I don't often use it for my normal-sized musky lures, but if you want to use a really thin leader that is still bite-proof, I would. For example, if I were using an X-Rap for muskies, I would opt for titanium because the thicker leaders would affect the action.
First off I thought you explained everything very well, however I dont agree with some of the things you are showing. As there is no reason to put a swivel on any leader when using braid as braid doesn't get line twist. It just gets in the way and drags the front of the lure down. I also think there in no place for mono in Muskie fishing as it doesn;t have the cut resistance that fluoro has. The crazy Alberto knot is a very good knot. , but it is way to big and bulky when tied with heavy leaders. Learn and tie the FG knot it's much stronger and smaller then the Alberto knot. Plus the fluoro is less visable in the water.
Right on Liam!! Good stuff.
Thanks. I'm going with this setup in my return to muskie fishing. The mono setup is super simple.
Wow so much info!! 👏 I have never caught a Muskie or fish for them!!! Very interesting 🧐
Thank you!
Thanks for the knowledge
Nice presentation.....You have a future in this business!!!
I’ve seen a good fish bite off a 170 pound flouro leader. You make many good points.
Glad you liked it!
Excellent video, thanks! New subscriber.
Thank you, sir!
With the 130lb. Mono leader. How do you attach it to the bait? What type of knot? Ok never mind. I rewatched the video and got my answer.
I just a figure 8 knot to a welded ring, then split ring to the bait
what know do you use on fluro to swivel and or split ring? Trying to find a good knot for 130 lb fluoro
What size welded and split rings do you like to use?
I like #5 - #7. But probably favour a #5
What pound fluorocarbon is that?
I usually stick with 130 pound for regular sized musky tackle
What do you think about titanium
I don't often use it for my normal-sized musky lures, but if you want to use a really thin leader that is still bite-proof, I would. For example, if I were using an X-Rap for muskies, I would opt for titanium because the thicker leaders would affect the action.
