Craziest Algae Bloom. How to Catch More Fish in Algae
Переглядів 43214 днів тому
The algae bloom is a time when many anglers end up doing more harm than good by reaching for extreme colours or overly loud rattling baits. Often, because the fishing is expected to be tough, they abandon their usual tactics altogether. But the truth is, algae has been around as long as the fish themselves, and it doesn’t affect the bite as much as people think. While using slightly brighter co...
Scientific Secret for Late Summer Walleye Fishing
Переглядів 1,5 тис.Місяць тому
We all know walleyes love eating crayfish, and dialling in on a crayfish pattern can lead to some of the most action-packed fishing you'll find. However, late September brings a fundamental change: crayfish moult and hid in the rocks. This means walleyes have less access to this forage. Keep this in mind, watch this video, and you'll save yourself a lot of frustration when targeting walleyes du...
Battling Deep Water Hogs. Vertical Fishing Lake Trout
Переглядів 960Місяць тому
Lake trout fishing in the summer is a blast. Vertical fishing is similar to ice fishing in open water for them. These fish rely on structure to corral baitfish, so focusing on deep structures is a good starting point when looking for them. The most crucial detail when searching for lake trout is locating the bait, usually ciscoes at this time of year. Once you find the bait, the lake trout won'...
How to Dropshot Finicky Walleyes (Setup and Technique Breakdown)
Переглядів 2,5 тис.2 місяці тому
When it comes to catching finicky walleyes, a dropshot is my go-to, like a lock fits a key. While this technique is a staple in bass fishing, it’s still flying under the radar in the walleye world. In this video, I break down exactly how to rig and use a dropshot to help put more walleyes in the boat.

Giant Walleyes Only. How to Sharpshoot Big Feeding Walleyes
Переглядів 2,7 тис.3 місяці тому
Catching big walleyes on shield waters often seems like a matter of luck for most anglers, who occasionally stumble upon large fish at their favourite walleye structures. However, there is a way to specifically target the larger fish that have adapted their behaviour due to their size. In a recent conversation on our podcast with Dr. Paul Cooley, an intriguing point was raised. Once walleyes re...

In this video, you'll see the fish were exactly where we expected them to be. Try this approach, along with our bait suggestions, and I'm confident you'll increase your catch rate.
Lethal Tricks to Catch Walleyes During the Mayfly Hatch
Переглядів 5 тис.3 місяці тому
The mayfly hatch is one of the most challenging times of the year for most anglers. Why? Because walleyes switch their diet to focus almost entirely on emerging mayfly larvae. Why would a walleye chase a minnow when there’s an easy, abundant, and nutritious food source right along the bottom? Exactly - they wouldn’t. There are roughly 120 mayfly larvae in every square meter along the bottom, ma...
Exposing Hidden Walleye Migration Paths
Переглядів 2 тис.4 місяці тому
Tracking walleyes as they move from their post-spawn locations to their summer humps can be challenging. They’re easy to lose track of until they reach their summer spots, where people are accustomed to catching them. During this time, you can use a few simple tricks as general rules to help track down walleyes during their move. In this video, I’ll show you the where, why, and how to catch mig...
Boat Positioning Is Everything. How to Maximize Your Catch Rate
Переглядів 1 тис.4 місяці тому
For most anglers, it's a common ideology to position their boat and cast towards shore. While this is a common and effective strategy, there are alternative methods. Often, when we encounter fish positioned at a specific depth, we adjust our boat's position and cast in a different direction. This ensures that our baits remain in the strike zone throughout the duration. This approach increases t...
Scientific Secrets for Post-Spawn Walleye Fishing
Переглядів 6 тис.4 місяці тому
We recently had an eye-opening conversation with walleye biologist Nick Baccante, who led walleye research in Northern Ontario. His work was so prestigious that he presented his findings to the United Nations. From Nick, we learned that post-spawn spring walleyes can be very predictable when you know exactly where to find them. Here are a few key insights to help you locate these fish. First, y...
Easiest Way to Catch Spring Smallmouth Bass
Переглядів 5894 місяці тому
Imagine a smallmouth bass transitioning from its summer habitat and behaviours to its winter ones. As the season changes, they begin feeding heavily in preparation for winter and move to deeper waters. In the spring, this transition happens in reverse. They migrate to shallower waters in search of warmth and food. Having hardly eaten all winter, these fish are now starving and feed voraciously....

As a supplement to your point about fish finding your lure in the bloom, consider this. Before the walleye night fishing ban went into effect, Mille Lacs Lake launches took clients out at night to the deep mudflats. The popular method of fishing was a slip bobber rig and a leech. They caught tons of walleye over many decades. Think about it, the fish are 20 to 30 feet deep. It's pitch black dark night. A leech, which is black in color, is the bait. How the heck does the walleye find a black leech, 20 feet down, at midnight? I don't know but they do find that leech and eat it. I often wondered if the fish can see the leech in the dark or if they feel its swimming motion? I don't know.

This bait is awesome. I caught so many bass on this. My #1 lure this summer. Its incredible. The trick is the right jig head. You want a jig head with a wire keeper. The worm color called bama craw is the best color i think. Thank you crush city.
