Hey rob, Im currently in classes for collision repair. You can 100 percent fix that frame properly. they can get the pulls within 1mm of perfect. OEM spec is isussualy 3-5mm. or you can always straighten it out and cut the frame and replace to manufacturer recommendations. No need to worry man, a good bodyman will get that thing straight! if you need help with specs or diagrams let me know! I have alldata and a few other ways to get stuff.
Fun fact: GM had a program where they had 3 concept corvettes 2 of them were rotary powered, one was a 2 rotor and one was a 4 rotor and last one had a V8, they called it the XP-822 AKA Aerovette.
Every automaker in the 1960s-1970s experimented with rotary engines, most decided them to be inefficient, impractical, unreliable, and overly expensive to warranty and maintain as a business venture.
I remember a few car magazine articles back in the late 70s... a couple of sneak previews of the Aerovette. Damn. Never happened. My High School years were devastated!
I thought for a second he put it back in to keep the rotary swap a secret from the repair shop, then I was like damn he didn't even sweat when he told him to pull out the motor😂
lonewolf5460 I’ve seen cars like this at an auction company I used to work at in Australia, all of them were written off and weren’t allowed to be re-registered for safety reasons
I've barely watched any of your content Rob, but when I saw the thumbnail and the title of the first video in this series it was an instant click. Keep the videos coming. Love the idea.
It’s so satisfying seeing a Corvette getting a rotary. It’s like it’s going full circle, twice over. The first bit of satisfaction is getting revenge for all the LS-swapped RX-7’s and the second bit is that the C3 Mid-Engined Prototype originally was slated to get GM’s 3.0 2-R Rotary that, sadly, never saw production.
Love it bro anytime anyone changes a engine in a corvette the deathbox I love it I don't like vettes but this one with a rotary is gonna be sweet. Keep up the good work brother.
That paper was the build sheet for that car. Forget the years they did it but they would put that in the front bar there on a lot of the Corvettes. I don't remember witch models they did this to or for how long but it's a neat Easter egg to find!!
Hell yea Rob... I live in Jackson, MI and work for a Tier 1 Auto supplier... I’m irritable and moody as hell lately! Wife is pissed at me. This weather needs to break fast!
most states have it pretty good when it comes to getting titles for messed up cars in Florida they only cars about the orignal vin tag so as long as you have that it's all good . I put a datsun B210 hatch back on a Suzuki samurai frame and drive train lifted it 2 feet with a lift kit and drove it for 3 years before I sold it to a friend who just had to have it . it was a bit tipsy but ran great and had 4 wheel drive. as I said as long as you have the orignal vin tag you could get a new body or a whole new car around the vin and still have them give you a title as long as it matches the vin tag .
I'm pretty sure cars without a key cylinder in the column don't have the old school locking pin. I think he could just turn the wheel. I'll have to double check that thou.
@@TheoXydias_PerlaCoffeeTrailer yeah, i know what you're talking about. It is actually a pretty old built, it runs 9 seconds with a 13b if i'm right!?!? Cool and clean built tho!
If you can get a "column lock bypass" kit they usually come with a cigarette lighter adapter and wire harness to instantly jump the column lock actuator to the unlocked position. If you were near me id lend you one. Im sure you already fought it with a locked column but just in case it helps I figured id comment. Or jump the connector manually
I'm Pro Mechanic Peace of paper stuffed in Front Crossmember is called Build Sheet. 3 piece wheels where first done by BBS as far as im aware.. the reasoning was that they could change the barrel of wheel fast on garage to alter the cars grip levels to suite the tracks. Manufacturing costs came down as well when they started to do that.. they could do the face and beadlock part all the same for single size and then just make different size of barrels for different widths of wheels desired. Porsche was first with BMW to use those in racing , but Porsche was the one who needed to use the wheels to get rid of understeer of their rear engine and light front racing cars. The manufacturer teams had money to have multiple sets of rims around for all their needs , but single person teams without huge budgets needed them most. Now its just an novelty piece to have rims like that. looks cool tho .
I live in Elyria Ohio about 5 min from Amherst Ive been here my hole life I probly know the dealership it came from they have always had a couple Corvettes around awesome to see were it came from and where it's going
1:40 haha, there is a bent vette running around in Australia somewhere... Not supposed to bring in vehicles that have been salvage titled before into Australia.. ;P
Nothing wrong with bending it back in place, unless its a absolute show car or your doing crazy stuff with it and putting ALOT of stress on it, its perfectly fine
Not metal. Carbon composite transverse leaf spring. Lower CG that way. Don’t need a reinforced spring pocket. However since there are only two points anchoring the spring it is allowed to bow and effect the opposite wheel. It feels sketchy around bends with bumps as when one wheel travels vertically it brings the other side up too.
It would be so sick if someone was able to mold RX7 rear lights into the rear panel for the Corvette. It's got a similar bodystyle to the RX7 & it has pop up headlights, it would look like the RX7s bigger brother lol. I do hope you at least put an Elfini or Mazda badge on the 'vette.
Oh it’s going to be running in less than 60 days for ls fest west. It’s not like the 4 rotor in size of project. But if it’s a hit I’ll take it east lol
Berry Tharp you don’t understand what power a turbo 4 rotor makes. They make power just as easy as any ls motor (I don’t get why people can’t respect the build)

I bet about a third of all “Customer Ordered” Corvettes are ordered with “Option R8C” so that their shinny new Vette is delivered to the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green Kentucky. After all the Corvette factory is located in Bowling Green Kentucky and if you pay the extra $990 Dollars you are taken on a builder tour of the “Assembly Line” and a guided tour of the Corvette Museum as well as getting pictures of your car being built. However if you fork out an extra $5000 you get everything included in the RC8 option and you get to assemble your cars engine under the watchful eye of a Corvette engine builder and if you ask me that would be a pretty freaking cool thing to do. PS you should save the paper work you found in the fame horn for no other reason than just because.
The corvette started life at the museum... Gotta take it to the museum and ask the people coming in and out how they feel about it
Kyle Keogh sir please we have talked about this, you are greatly upsetting the customers

The spring You miss is called torsion damper. Tanks also got it.
You made pushing a corvette up a ramp look easy as heck, muscle respect.
Granted, it was missing the engine and other vital components.
Thanks for explaining RPO codes. The rest are probably in the glove box, under the arm rest, or under the rear cargo cover.
rob, you know there's room for 4 rotors in that.
JUST POINTING THAT OUT *WINK WINK* =]
wink wink nudge nudge, say no more say no more!

The leaf springs are actually fiber glass instead of metal. Kind of weird but interesting .
James Hamer i’m glad you said this, my inner Corvette owner was screaming for some reason
the gmc safari vans also have fiber glass leaf springs. ask me how i know lol
jon doe i over loaded the van with a shit load of 2by4s and one of them snapped literally in half. Lmao
That paper is the build list for parts and options in the manufacturing line. We print at least 400 of those a shift for the Tahoe / Escalade line
So You ain't afraid about crushed fibers in the Corvette body? I really admire Your spirit about bein able stretching it. Good luck!
