I love the insulation falling, it's like confetti every time you make power.
So it was insulation? I was like "WTF is all that junk falling down!"
@@CMDRSweeper remark at 5:10
I love it when sparkly confetti shoots out my exhaust.
You guys are worried about the shit falling down when you guys need to be more interested in how much power this stock REW is making.
@@henryerazo5221 ok
People probably hear this thing on the road and think it's broken.
lmao
😭😂💀
hahaha perfect!
Who's that dumb ass in the broken vet.... Wait whys that thing so damn fast 🤣🤣🤣
The thumbnail looks like Rob on his first day to Dyno school lmao
"hi, im Rob Dahm and this is jackass" had me dying
I almost choked on my lunch.
😂
4:26
I burst into tears lmao
Best part of the video, lol.
Rob, if you're having shifter issues, you could check out the "anti-venom mod."
This is a very specific washer placed in the detent plugs of T-56's to help with poor shifter feel. Just a thought
Isn't he running a stock RX7 box?
Like it makes no sense IMHO to use a corvette T56 cause then you need a custom clutch/flywheel and bellhousing?
Retaining the RX7 gearbox would only require custom cross member for me the box and engine
@@Jarmezrocks The C5 and newer corvettes' transmissions are rear-mounted directly to the diff, with an internal driveshaft called a torque tube between the clutch and the input shaft.
I think he is fighting the reverse lockout solenoid since the stock computer is gone.
That washer is a band-aid, hinson or mgw shifter actually fix the issue
@@Wrongwayislost77 Geeeze thanks for the info man. I am Australian so this is all new stuff to learn for someone like me! Cheers
Wow I just watched this video twice to make sure I was seeing it correctly. Rob dahm you single handedly have just blown my mind. I am now totally and completely rethinking my whole build and the time effort and parts that I have put in to it just to achieve what I thought was an amazing goal of 500hp. And that is from all the research that I've done talking to countless people in the rotary world and being told it's near impossible to get that number out of a 13b. This just proves that you sir are the rotary king 👍🤴
a stock block and stock seals aren't sustainable for these levels of horsepower though - rob said in another comment that he's gonna be making a series saying what you actually need to max out his turbo (around 600 hp) reliably and safely so watch out for that in the future 👀
Yes I totally look forward to that it's just amazing that however it may not be reliable so to speak. But it was still accomplished
2020 Quote of the year.
Rob Dahm
"I have the biggest swamp ass ever"
3:30 Rob: “ it’s ice, I mean sweet tea..” damn Rob I almost got to hear the Canadian come out of you haha
Please explain
In canada ice tea is sugary goodness. Its not cold tea lol.
Ya we just call “sweet tea” ice tea it’s few and far between that places in Canada serve unsweetened ice tea, and even if you found it you would have to specify that you want it unsweetened.
Every time I would visit my grandparents in Anaheim I would forget that it was called sweet tea, so I’d ask for an ice tea and get a bitter reminder about name difference lol.
@@TheSassygrasshopper i was in vegas with my dad we both ssked for ice tea, the server new we were Canadian the second we took a sip.
LS Fans: Did you beat the LS6
Rob: Yes
LS Fans: What did it cost?
Rob: Everything
now compare it against a LS9
Now compare that against a 26b
Weighs less than half the LS too
Logan it’s like 70lb NA
Peter Griffin The ls9 is a far better engine than most rotary engines
when he stalled getting onto the Dyno
"Noooooo" 😂😂
Lol rob driving casually on the freeway with the hood trying to blow open
I just noticed
Opens up in the back, so not going to fly open.
my car does that...only it opens in the front
GM: "you can't have a rotary corvette make more HP than a stock LS6"
Rob Dahm: "Hold my frickin beer."
GM: "reliably"
More like hold my Valvoline and Keeps Sponsor
G SysOp and without boost.
Good job Rob!
@@cd2920 Why? Isn't the Rotary turbo on the showroom?
Corvette owners: You just can't 13b swap corvette.
Rob Dahm: Haha 13b goes: "Brap Brap Brap".
Haha dorito go brrrr
I really felt that "NO" as he stalled reversing onto the dyno 🤣
No you cant make more horsepower with rotary in your corvette
Rob Dahm : 'Haha McDonald burger yum yum'
The only UA-camr I watch the second I see his notification 😍😍😍
That roof got obliterated, great stuff!
Every hater who said that it won't make more power and torque than the stock LS can eat their own words now! 😈😎
people said that? i guess they dont know how easy it is to make power with boost
I love what he's doing, but c'mon, what did it take to get there? Put that turbo, time, work and money into an LS and it would be no contest.
@@chinchy111 Yeah, a lot of people say that, people that don't know shit about rotarys
@@BJK1715 Well, the point of this was to show that rotarys are not as bad as some people think, sure, the LS can make more power with the same mods, but that's not the point
Lol cam and other goodies on that ls6 would destroy that rotary without boost
It starts sounding like a badly tuned VQ when the engine protection kicks is
Hehehe Glad I'm not the only one that heard that...

“Rob is alive!”
“I have the biggest swamp ass ever.”
Classic Rob
*13B SWAP THE WORLD*
"HI I'M ROB DAMH AND THIS JACKASS" that should become your quote, that was funny!!!
His pause was perfect
he will get b=forbuilded
He should make a t-shirt.
Rob when I first started watching you I really didn't like you, but now I see your passion and how excited you get about your craft. I've now learned to like you. I say this because I wish my girlfriend had the same enthusiasm about me as you do rotary engines.
That comment means a lot man. Truly.
I just love how Isaiah is feeding Rob McDonalds
The only thing more exciting than the car is your great enthusiasm for the project
"Swamp ass"lol , i definitely run into the same problem with hot asphalt where i live
550 HP and 503 TQ at wheel, alright. Question, what’s the servicing of this engine at that output going to look like?
Covering that next. That’s not sustainable levels of power on a stock engine. Both stock apex seals and stock block itself aren’t meant for that much tq. We did it in horrible conditions. But I don’t think it would last long for anyone. Wanted to start with a stock block and then do the least number of mods to do 600 hp reliably maxing out this turbo.
Rob Dahm I’m honestly just wondering. I don’t know that much about the platform. Thanks for responding.
@@RobDahm how are the apex seals being used harder? im guessing too much engine vibrations from the power?
@@chinchy111 Much more pressure I'd wager. Same way stock piston engine block can only hold x amount of power on internal components.
I don't think a lot of stock parts hold up well at 30 psi 🤣
UNBELIEVABLE ROB!!! You killed it Sir!
'You've come a long way in such a short time! Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. I look forward to your new videos every day and can't wait to see where the future takes you!!
I just checked and the last time besides the dyno and hoonigan burnout that Any of the cars have been driven hard on pavement was may 2018.. over 2 years ago! I'm dying to see these incredible builds get some street time!!!
32psi is insane on a rotary engine. He tunes like he has money. Like watching a gambling addict getting cleaned.
Love these videos XD
On my old FC I ran a s500 between 35-50psi depending on air temps I never made the torque rob is making(max was 450) but i was 600-675 to the wheels
“Hi, I’m Rob Dahm, and this is Jackass” 🤣
Great job there Rob, nice to see you getting into mapping. Love this kind of video.
PS. The sound of rotary in the morning, that's true love 🥰
Greetings from 🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪
Congrats man! This exercise truly shows how much your knowledge has grown over the years. Great job tuning, great numbers.
"Today is the day" somebody watches Fasterproms.
Are you ready to make some power
Jusr to think this started as a joke
I'm new here. What's the joke?
@@ENDACUH LS6's
@@ENDACUH People always take the LS engines from a Corvette and swap it into a RX-7. So Rob jokingly said he was going to take the Rotary engine from a RX-7 and swap it into a Corvette. But he actually did it.
I'm really looking forward for the C8 joke now lol
Oh this dyno is definitely the place when you see a bunch of RX7s and RX8s in the parking lot
You the man Dahm!!!! Might have to start calling you Dahm-er since you’re eatin’ up the competition!!!
Anybody else notice the left rear wheel kinda wobbling at around 14 minutes as he accelerates? Love the car, might want to look into anything that may be possibly loose and/or worn out. Can't wait to see more!
I love how its hitting cut and you just stay in it. It stayed together I give you that
Time to invest in a trailer since you invested in a truck.
Goose neck trailer way better than bumper style
Boost pressure is how you make torque on a rotary. Nice job, bet thats one hell of a fun car.
Congrats Uncle Rob! That curve looks mint!
DYNO TIME!!!!! Long awaited.. 400+bhp please rob 👍😜😂
That Corvette really look like THE KNIGHT RYDER CAR 😄😎!
I'm 26 but can you adopt me?
It sounded so sweet at the end. You tuned it well. Nice torque and hp curve.
I like how informative you are in your vids, not holding 'industry secrets' and telling us everything.
I have been looking to rebuild my 13b lately and upgrade the turbo, I will definitely be waiting until you finish this series before I do so.
Just try not to take as long as the 4 rotor =P
I really hope that comments help you cause i wanna see this car again and all your other ones 😁
Every time Rob makes a pull, confetti falls from the sky !!
That boost solenoid doesn't sound right... Too much flutter.
4 port. Swapping it out. Annoyingly loud. And not enough granular control over it
4 ports are for very high pressures. 3 ports are better for fine tuning.
Sounds like the frequency of the solenoid is too low
Rob I was sitting outside working on my Sachs km3 rotary lawnmower which listening to my Sachs km37 rotary run in the background when you uploaded and then put the rotary tubing video on while I worked on my rotary. Perfect afternoon
I didn't realize how much I c5 and an RX7 resemble each other until the sound of the rotary connected me to the two.
Once the C8 rebuild is complete, we need to see the C5 and C8 together that would be so cool!
Awesome achievement to be sure! With the reduction in weight and the added horsepower this Vette is going to be a lot faster than a stock Z06!
I imagine there will be a trade-off in drivability due to the fact that the torque doesn't really surpass that of the V8 until 4,000rpms or so... but for something that's not a daily driver, that's probably a justifiable trade-off. Hopefully Rob will give us some feedback in that regard.
Great work sir!!
Must have been fun to drive back to Shop with new tune!😎
Christ on a pogo, that is a good day's work right there.
I love that you're really getting into doing all aspects of building a car, including the tuning.
Although I suppose you have to if you want to be the next rotary guru!
As always, thank you for sharing this with us, it feels like half fanboying/fangirling and half being an apprentice.
You are definitely lowering the bar for others to consider owning a rotary, which is a great thing.
Not to mention demystifying the whole "rotaries are super unreliable" myth. Clearly they can take a beating when they're built right, and the world needs to know that! :)
Well done Rob. Now finish the four rotor off !!!
I love how Robs made the corvette so much more useable for everyday life👌🏻😂
Excellent job on that tune Rob. I'd like to see a return of the top speed run you did a while back. Cheers
8:39 Oh yea rob, gotta love that nice bell curve on the dyno 😂😂
You need to show the runs overlayed so people can see how drastically different the power bands are between these motors.
You can tell Rob was hella nervous in this vid. Good stuff though
Damn at 0:17 he really is flexing that power stance isnt he
Wow!! That engine got beat and it handled it like a champ! That’s a lot of power for a stock rotary engine.
Can't wait for the next video when rob buys a dyno
Those Temps though...Glad I am in Michigan! Great video Rob! Best wishes as always! I gotta say I know power levels with my 2010 Ford Taurus SHO. 400+HP and 440+lbs torque. AWD and twin turbocharged. Stock Parts. Stage 4, 93 octane tune from Livernois Motorsports. Corvette is doing great, glad to see things working out. 👍
Rob is a pretty smart dude! I used to think he was a Dahmmy
How’ve you not hit 1,000,000 subs yet?!? The most well known person in the car community!
I’m an inconsistent youtuber. So focused on building cars I forget to make videos. I’m trying to improve haha
Rob Dahm I’m not even a UA-camr, but I’m so focused I forget I have a limited bank account😂, currently rebuilding my rover’s engine (again)
Definitely the smoothest ICE sound there is. You can hear the pistons not oscillating.
That bonnet / hood looked super solid 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great job on the tune man made great numbers and it didn't explode!
Watched a lot of these dyno hits and I still squint and get anxious when boost kicks in lol. Rob shows NFG truly that was cool.
Yup, love the confetti
I see so many rob dahm haters all over youtube talking shit about how he doesnt do anything on his cars he is just some schmuck with deep pockets. My questions for them are as follows:
1. How many of these haters have even built a 400+hp car?
2. When saying rob isnt hands on with fabricating, tuning (which this video makes it abundantly clear he is willing to take a stab at tuning his car), and installing, how many of the haters are doing every bit of that on their own rigs (pretty sure most people dont build their own cages or do there very own dyno tuning)
3. Are these folks hating simply because rob is doing what so many of them want to do but can't due to financial, family, work obligations or simply too lazy to put the effort into building a high performance car?
To Rob and the guys he works with all I have to say is you guys do a great job and have nothing but respect for you guys and your willingness to share your successes as well as your failures with us. I know at this point in my life right now I can't afford to do what he is doing but I love that I can watch him do this and while doing so pick up information and advice from his trial and error that I can use myself when I am ready to tackle something of this caliber.
Hell yeah, thanks! It was cool seeing you man👍
I have literally been waiting minute by minute love it thanks rob keep them coming
JH and you both ruined insulation on the dyno today. Perfect.
Cleeter McSkeeter- “ALL THE TIMING!”
Rob you need to purchase a dyno for your shop you will be a Rotary tuner pro with your stable of amazing rotary vehicles
Its a good tune for how that waste gate is sounding, Im not that familliar with rotary's and I guess that's how it sounds with low gate pressure. sure is making some numbers. More fuel, Less timing more boost!
That waste gate sounds crazy cool
"Hi, I'm Rob dahm.. And this is jackass." had me dead 😂😂
I can't believe you dynod the vette in the upside-down
That was sick. Can't wait to see it driven in anger!
Rob no matter how many times I see this cool Frankenstein of a car ( I mean that as a complement Rob and Fans) badass body with a killer mind. I get surprised every time I hear it. Cuz a vette shouldn't sound like that but it does and it's sick as fuck. You know it's only gonna get better from here. Cuz we have the C8 still to come up. I see the C8 todo big things with Robs knowledge he's gonna have and it being mid mounted engine it's gonna be sick.
Rob Dahm's lovin' it.
At 3:29 that ever person reaction when someone hands them a McDonald’s drink and it’s sweet tea.
The exhaust in the top end sound beautiful
Roof insulations are pretty soft nowadays , i watched cleetus Mcfartlands , Jh diesel truck also rip of their insulation . So stay hydrated , stay home stay safe dont rip off.
Man! Who the heck is disliking this guy!!
Eh whatever! I think he's a winner and a champion for doing what he do's
LS owners
That's one mean air pump you got there.
0:51 gotta love that active hood venting!
Great work. Good numbers and tuning. 👌
So, you now have a Front" mid-engine rotary Corvette and you are building a Rear mid-engine rotary Corvette. I think when all is said and done, the Corvette museum should have your cars on display.
Nice hair, Friar Rob.
Awesome video Rob
Gratz! Looking forward to more.
That's the good shit well done Rob!
This is a second video in a day where I see pieces of ceiling flying around.
I would like to see what it does on a 1/4 mile!!!!!!! That would be interesting.👍
he needs to do the rest of the car setup for it to have a good 1/4 mile
