    What was your inner burr setting? Im curious because i usually do dark roast and i have my inner burr at 3 and outter setting anywhere from 7 to 9

    • @craftcoffeespot
      @craftcoffeespot  10 місяців тому +1

      I am at 6 on the inner burr! Meanwhile, my Barista Express is now at a 3. This goes to show the exact number doesn't matter; just make sure you're at a place so that you have a comfortable range of settings on the outer burr.

      @@craftcoffeespot Yeah I prefer it particularly as it is better match for other kit placed near it. Not quite there yet in fine tuning for my preferred Java Mocha locally supplied bean. For a less than two years into the art of decent espresso coffee making it is satisfying to keep improving thanks to people like yourself and also Coffee Kev who got me into it initially with Breville and their products. Ta to both again. Frank🙂

    Recently bought this and enjoying it. So far, still using up some cans of Illy espresso grind, so haven’t tried the grinder yet. I enjoy the double shot, but I’m still making my regular “cupos coffee” from my k-cup model to get 8 ounces of coffee. I am intrigued by what you said about using the hot water spout to make Americano. Tell me more! Is this just a matter of adding some hot water to dilute the espresso so you have a larger, less intense serving?

    • @craftcoffeespot
      @craftcoffeespot  6 місяців тому

      I use hot water to dilute the espresso, typically 1:2 or 1:3 espresso:water ratio. It’s still a small drink, that has stronger flavor yet much more palatable than straight espresso. The small drink means less fluid and quicker consumption.

    I have no clue what to do. I grind finer and finer and the coffee flows like crazy (14-15) seconds. I tamp as hard as I can😢. Any help appreciated.

    I've had one for a couple of months now. Got it in "black truffle" -- a nice matte black that looks great in my kitchen. Unfortunately, the paint finish on the tray immediately started to chip. Otherwise, it works great. Stick with the stainless.

    Hi, I got exactly the same machine but my machine pushes the water back into the tray. Why?, so like a half of the water will be in the glass and other half will go into the tray I did speak with the company directly and they say the machine is faulty. Have you experienced such an issue?, It feels like the machine can push through water, even without any coffee in the filter, even empty filter. Doesn’t push through all the water.Thanks

    • @craftcoffeespot
      @craftcoffeespot  10 місяців тому +2

      Sounds like the OPV is faulty. You'll always get some water back in the tray due to pressure release, but half is too much. Talk to Breville to get it fixed if it's under warranty.

    Hi, looking to get into the espresso world.Been looking at the breville barista express and the barista pro but cant decide.I want to learn ho to be a good barista.I am a beginner which one would you recommend?

    • @craftcoffeespot
      @craftcoffeespot  6 місяців тому

      Barista Touch is on sale for a great price today, so I recommend that. You can find it here: amzn.to/3vmeGCj (affiliate link)
      Otherwise, the Barista Express Impress is the best for beginners, very easy to use. Find it here: amzn.to/3TSu9DP (affiliate link)
      I would not go with the classic Barista Express. Impress, Touch, and Pro are all better. The Impress is a LOT easier to use. The Touch is great for steaming milk. So, if you want milk, Touch. If pure simplicity, Express Impress. Check the links above.

    • @craftcoffeespot
      @craftcoffeespot  6 місяців тому

      @@MannenMoment the link *should* auto redirect to Europe. If not, then no. I would stick with the Express Impress if it’s cheaper in Europe, and you don’t care about milk. Otherwise, Pro or Touch are both solid.

    I"ve been researching the best home espresso machine for me. I am not a Barista or a pro. It would be the first machine. It is extremely confusing wiht so many options out there, so far this seems best. Any other machines I should consider?

    • @craftcoffeespot

      If you want easy espresso, I recommend a super-automatic espresso machine. The Philips 3200 is extremely easy and low cost. Here's our review: ua-cam.com/video/buiIX23KBvY/v-deo.html
      If you better espreso and less work, look at the Breville Barista Express Impress. It's like the Barista Pro, but FAR easier. We have a detailed video coming but I am really pleased with its simplicity. You can see our review here: craftcoffeespot.com/espresso/breville-barista-express-impress-review/

    I guess my confusion comes with putting in 15g per recommendation, but then expecting only 30g out on a dark roast? I’m assuming it’s because you’re using manual mode because I’m getting a consistent 2oz of espresso out which is about 56-60g. Are you not pulling 2oz of espresso? That’s one thing you didn’t cover. Your focus was on grams, but not oz output.

    • @craftcoffeespot
      @craftcoffeespot  9 місяців тому +3

      You need to stop your shot early, as you’re likely getting too much. It’s about the ratio and grams or oz don’t matter as long as you’re consistent. .5 oz coffe vs 1 oz espresso is the same at 15g and 30g. Focus on the ratio, and tweak that until you like that taste.

    If it’s a light roast it should be a 3-1 ratio. You need to dial in more. 16grams in and 48grams out in around 27-35 seconds. I have a pro as well and I’m always pulling 20 gram shots in and getting 60grams out. Works great.

    • @craftcoffeespot
      @craftcoffeespot  Рік тому +5

      This was a dark roast, where 2:1 works best for me. The broader message from dialing in is to encourage everyone to tweak their settings until they find the sweet spot. Every bean is different and preferences are different. What separates the Pro is it’s easy to change settings.
