On the other hand Russia has a failing economy - inflation and interest rates going up, more NATO right on your border, a badly damaged oil refining industry, an army with a very bloody nose, a poor air force, Black Sea fleet combat ineffective, demographic predictions are not great, a 3 day SMO is now around 1000days with no strategic objective obtained and 600k casualties. Ultimately Putin will meet his end and Ukraine will join the EU and NATO if thats what they want. Which bit is going well for Russia??

While we will not know the total casualties of the russian side of this war, it is clear that it is in the hundreds of thousands. In WW2 the US suffered 407,316 military deaths and 671,278 military wounded - the Ukraine conflict is nearly as bad for russia as WW2 was for the US - does that not sound bonkers to you?

The Russian navy has been driven from Crimea and is abandoning the western Black Sea. The Ukranian strike on the Caspian Flottila shows that nowhere in the Black Sea is safe for the Russian navy.
The Russian air force can barely operate over Crimea, the sea of Azov, and the Western Black Sea.
Russia can't recover its own lost territory in Kursk, Russia is reduced to asking for Korean meat, which will not help.
There have been strikes on Moscow, these will intensify.
Even Putin has admitted that the Russian economy is in trouble. In reality it is far worse than Putin has admitted to.
