@br7757 I have a Samsung Q8 4k too. I must say that 4k on Samsung Q8 is the best TV ever made. Nothing can compare. If I come closer about 1 foot away, I can see some tiny pixels. I assume 8k may require a magnifier to see the difference.
Are both sets calibrated? If not, what is the point in a comparison because all you are doing is comparing the image on 2 wildly inaccurate TV's. Did you at least put them in to the cinema preset or the one that comes closest to correct colours, gamma, greyscale etc.?
Firstly 8K makes sense if you go with bigger size in your room relative to your distance - like 85” while sitting 3-3.5meters away. Doesn’t make sense to go 65” from that distance as you won’t notice resolution difference. Secondly since 8K is already upscaling from 4k don’t expect it will do better with lower resolution than 4k tv. If you watch 4k content primarily then you will be fine as well.

After test 1 they knew which TV was which. Wouldn't this bias the remaining tests? Adding a third 4k oled in would be interesting. So much more to picture quality than 4k and 8k, dimming zones, peak brightness, processing power, upscaling, tone mapping, bfi etc etc

I think it's telling that 8k TVs are breaking the 50-inch barrier. How many people REALLY want to have a TV that basically IS one of their walls?
The same question was raised when FHD versus 4K. If you want to see the difference between 4K and FHD, with a 55 inch TV you need to sit within 1.6 m. I imagine that distance only gets shorter when it comes to 4K and 8k.
I'd like to see with the upconverting a 4k video. Yes it's fair to have done both at 1080, but would the 8k upconvert a 4k video to look better then the 4k can produce? If so then anytime you get a 4k video or blu-ray the 8k tv would become more of a sound choice.

Maybe ill get when I need a new TV in the future and when all the tv are 8k but for now 4k is fine for most people and actually better for most programs now.
6:45 I'm gonna call that unfair. 8K TV upscale is to upscale 4K CONTENT, not 1080p. Then, similarly to a 4KTV upscaling 1080, it's only 4x the pixels going 4K to 8K.
Streaming for 8K simply is not going to happen for at least another decade. Heck 4K isn't really stable on many platforms still. Takes way too much processing power.
I would love to buy an 8k TV but I just can't see the point of everything I watch upscaled to 8k resolution. Plus the prices are very expensive right now. A lot of people have said that 4k native resolution looks better than 8k. Maybe as time passes 8k will be more attractive to me but for now I'm okay with 4k tvs. The only 8k TV I was really interested in was the TCL OD Zero miniled 8k models.
This was pointless! You have to use actual 8k content on the 8K tv (like the photograph comparison) to make it a fair comparison (which isn’t available? Or is extremely limited). All this shows is if “upscaling” to 8k is worth it or not? I give it 2 years to see 8k content being released more frequently to 8k users, but at a higher price!
I'm still rocking a 1080p TV which is incredibly sharp and detailed. I can read fine print on it and resolve the pores on someone's forehead as it is. LOL! I don't need to see the atoms that make up their body now. But if I do, then I'm waiting for Ultimate High Definition! I hereby officially declare that (16,000 x 9,000) is Ultimate High Definition! True 16K! 😋
Agreed. So why bother making a 55 8K in the first place? They're only working with what's available, and what the average UK consumer will be duped into buying due to price and room size. So quite a useful comparison really.
Maybe a little bit of a rigged test as they are both LG nano cell with a big price difference. Just for example the LG C1 which uses OLED would come out on top on almost all these tests and be the winner. The upscaling of 1080p content is a trivial software issue.
watching different content on both the tvs at the same time, ofc its hard to see any difference 🤦🏽♂️ im sick of these terrible channels that doesnt take effort into reviewing true and honest comparisment

The only field I see 8K to make a good difference is VR gaming, however current CPU's would not be able to deal with such a resolution with an acceptable framerate, maybe in 5 years we'll get there
4k is not gonna be obsolete for a very long time, just like 1080p is not obsolete right now. 4k will have superior refresh rate for a very long time until 8k high refresh rate or 8k gaming becomes a common thing. I have never seen an 8k tv, but just from looking at how dense the pixels are on 4k, it is just incredible. I can't distinguish a pixel to another pixel from 5 inches away on my mom's 4k monitor. So 4k right now is definitley still great.
There's point of having 8k tv. You can play games in 8k, watch youtube travel videos in 8k and watch upscaled (by special software) 4k movies to 8k. Also 8Ks are big screens and they offer the best color quality anyway.
When they said the hertz difference they literally spoiled the whole "Which one is 8K" thing. Of course the lower hertz one is more likely to be the 8K due to how the 8K increases the price
Ironically 8k is only useful for when you are at gaming distance and not viewing distance from the screen. 8k gaming is even further away than 8k video content.

"its hyper realistic i feel like if i stepped into this image it would look more like the other one". What does that even mean? It looks so real on the 8k it is bad because it looks too real??
If you understand science, you'll realise that buying an 8k TV is a waste of money. There will be no change. It all depends on how big or how far away you are from the television. For example, if you were close to it, you would notice a minimal difference, but if you were at least the usual distance away from the 8k TV sitting on your couch, it would be practically hard to notice. The human sight has its limitations... Anyone who creates a TV that exceeds 8k will be completely useless since the TV will not fit in your room and you will have to be fairly close to the TV to literally see no difference. We've reached the point where it's no longer worthwhile. Instead of trying to make bigger resolutions, I think LG or other big electronic companies should focus on another tech like VR.
Ya gotta love how TV companies are pushing 8K when really, no one wants it. Now, they're putting high end options in the 8K only to further force you to buy the 8K. What a ripoff, 8K is gonna go the way of 3D TV.

8k better than 4k??? Like to this you say 4k bettet than 1080p?? Why 8k be not better than 4k?!
Maybe ill get when I need a new TV in the future and when all the tv are 8k but for now 4k is fine for most people and actually better for most programs now.
Yes!! Gadget show is back great to hear the familiar voices again :)
By the time broadcasting is done in 8k, an 8k Tv will have been refined to a point where you will most likely have 120hz as standard.
What a crap comparison 55” @8k you cannot see the difference in 8k until at least 85”
I tell myself that the threshold goes at 85" as well, so I won't feel bad buying an 83" OLED soon ;)
Meaning 8K is crap for now. What is the lowest priced 8K 85' ?
6:45 I'm gonna call that unfair. 8K TV upscale is to upscale 4K CONTENT, not 1080p. Then, similarly to a 4KTV upscaling 1080, it's only 4x the pixels going 4K to 8K.
u lost the poin..this test its to compare in the real world. u know most tv show its only 1080p. not 4k yet!
Yet the video quality on this is 1080p can't at least put it out on 4k!
Streaming for 8K simply is not going to happen for at least another decade. Heck 4K isn't really stable on many platforms still. Takes way too much processing power.
U mean 5 years
@@blacklyfe5543 No. 10. 5 more years to get 8K TV into homes and another 5 years to produce 8K content and 8K production structures.
@@CameronKiesser in 10 years they gonna release 16k
@@CameronKiesser 8k tv still worth it cause by then 4k won't even be a thing anymore
@@blacklyfe5543 Your timings are laughably off.
How much content is in 4K anyway ? I want to get a 8k tv so once they become more cheaper .
8K Tvs will become cheaper by the time 16K TVs comes out! Whenever something better rolls around, inferior product becomes cheaper and affordable.
@@Patrick19833 I don’t think 16k will ever be a thing unless we’re talking theatre size screen.
the question now is if 1080p content looks better on a native 1080p tv vs upscaled to 4k.
Facts
@@blacklyfe5543 hey buddy do you agree with me about 8k. I'm okay with 4k for now. There isn't tons of 4k much less 8k.
@@michaelwyckoff9207 there's a ton of 4k not 8k though
This was pointless!
You have to use actual 8k content on the 8K tv (like the photograph comparison) to make it a fair comparison (which isn’t available? Or is extremely limited).
All this shows is if “upscaling” to 8k is worth it or not?
I give it 2 years to see 8k content being released more frequently to 8k users, but at a higher price!
I couldn't agree more 8K content is a must for an 8K TV comparison!
I found the review very fun to watch, but the TV models featured are prehistoric...
You should produce an updated video with the 2022 models! 😉
2023!
@@TheMoises1213 👍👍
neither test did a black level test.. It's black levels which are important v 4K OLED. I need to know where to put my money.. 8K LED or 4K OLED?
I think the best way is to put it on a very large tv like 80 inch or above.
True 16K! 😋
Do the test on an 85 inch or larger and you'll see 8K win. The 55 inch test is useless!!
Agreed. So why bother making a 55 8K in the first place?
They're only working with what's available, and what the average UK consumer will be duped into buying due to price and room size.
So quite a useful comparison really.
Who the hell buys 85 inch tvs this is why 8k is a flop. Oh you bought one right? That's why you're so upset
how blind do you have to be to buy a tv anything over 60 inches?
Maybe a little bit of a rigged test as they are both LG nano cell with a big price difference.
Just for example the LG C1 which uses OLED would come out on top on almost all these tests and be the winner. The upscaling of 1080p content is a trivial software issue.
I cant see a different between 1080p and 4k (im 15year old young guy with healtly eyes) how that old man guess which is 4k and which is 8k?!
1080p is better
watching different content on both the tvs at the same time, ofc its hard to see any difference 🤦🏽♂️ im sick of these terrible channels that doesnt take effort into reviewing true and honest comparisment
Like he said, it's vastly dependent on the content shown - i can't see the point in 8K for at least for the foreseeable future especially for TV's under 65''
a 65 inch 4K is indistinguishable from an 8K unless you get damn close.. I think to appreciate the difference you need 85inch at 3-3.5m distance... which is ludicrous
@@gmmgmmg So basically unless you were to watch TV up close (something i never do) there is little point in getting say a 65'' 8K TV for a normal sized living room?
@@matthew6994 absolutely zero point, 8K is a total gimmick, invented to make people believe they need to change their TV because "it has 4 time as many pixels". On top of that, there's absolutely zero 8K content. And I hope there never will be, as it would clog the internet for basically no reason...
The only field I see 8K to make a good difference is VR gaming, however current CPU's would not be able to deal with such a resolution with an acceptable framerate, maybe in 5 years we'll get there
Yes or a viewing distance of 1 ft! :p
Here in the US I'm in the market for a new tv. I can get a 4k 85" for half the cost. Plus no 8k content is out there for the masses.
oled 4k is future proof
Upscaling is normally done by an AV receiver before it gets into the TV so that test is questionable
I wonder if you can upscale to 4k and watch it on 8K i am pretty sure it should be possible
ARE YOU THICK
8k is better for a PC work monitor than as a TV
720p is better for a Pc 1080p is better for a tvs then 4k moniters and 8k tvs
My 4K ultra hd tv fits me just fine…
Same 😊
What's Elexa?
When they said the hertz difference they literally spoiled the whole "Which one is 8K" thing. Of course the lower hertz one is more likely to be the 8K due to how the 8K increases the price
Ironically 8k is only useful for when you are at gaming distance and not viewing distance from the screen. 8k gaming is even further away than 8k video content.
Wut.. literally the current Gen Game Systems run up to 8k
@@kylmon4759 The worlds most powerful consumer grade graphics card is unable to render some games in 4K at over 60 frames. And the card alone costs £2k
I will stick to my 1080p TV since most movies from the past 50 years are shot in 1080 and upscaled for 4K and 8K.
8K has been dead for years.
The 50hz gave it away
8K is worth it if you got like a 80 inch plus TV ....
but my 4K TV is fine since its 55 inch ...
I believe 1st test was compromised since they weren’t showing the same footage :/
What about gaming on next gen consoles though?
Worst 4K and 8k TVs though because the contrast is bad on these nano cell TVs but good video still.
No, I'm no expert. But. I'd say 8K only makes sense for larger TVs, 75"+. THEN you are going to get a higher DPI... ;-)
And for Next gen consoles.
@@michealkelly1414 Xbox Series X all the way but I do like some of PlayStation too just not the PS5
8k resolution and the pixels are great when you wish to zoom in.
It's crazy how 10 years ago, I thought only rich people had 1080p
This channel reminds me of top gear...
I actually got this 8k for around the same price as the 4k. The 100hz is the only thing that got me doubting.
But 4k TVs right now have better image quality than 8k models
On a 55 inch tv full Hd 1080p is satisfactory. Really cant complain.
4k is double that at 2160p
But if you play between them that is 1440p ,you can be fooled its at 4k also.
So to try 8k on a tv of this size is a fail.
As another comment mentioned. 75 inch screen above which is home theater size is where we can appreciate 8k.
I'm waiting for 100k more perfect from 8k😤
Are you gonna spend it or what?
I’d rather they not have cheated tbh but processors need to render & upscale quality to its resolution much better
"its hyper realistic i feel like if i stepped into this image it would look more like the other one". What does that even mean? It looks so real on the 8k it is bad because it looks too real??
Ive actually been to the alexandra theatre cause i live in birmingham
I really hope 8k is better... my whole brand depends on it.
Had to watch this I just bought an 8k guy talked me into it
Just look at all the pixels that have to be filled in to upscale much lower resolutions.
