Torch in the room went out because it got blood splashed onto it :-) Not checking for dual wield being on is totally on you at this point in a game 😁 Before every attack you have to check it, that's the rule 😂 About you not getting your proper turn - it's buggy when you join combat late, you knew that as well :-))
Turn based mode is always a good idea for initiating combat, unless you are ready to immediately react and follow up with some weapon attacks. You'll be passing stealth checks regularly, so the surprise playstyle is something you need to learn, even though you don't rely on it as much as some other builds.
It's interesting how much trouble meenlocks are giving you, there are a few fights in this act that are quite a bit nastier in my opinion. We'll have to see, I guess :-)
It wasn't subsequent turn, it was your first turn of combat and you've already burnt your sneak attack starting combat. It's messy and buggy, much cleaner is to go into combat together, but there are times when the benefits of doing it separately outweigh potential bugs, like this time :-)
From what I've seen playing, if you join combat during the first round, you just lose your whatever actions you took to join combat. However, if you attempt to join combat after the first round has finished, you do not get to move or do any additional actions/bonus actions on that round, because joining combat was your "turn". While this is annoying to experience when it's someone joining on your side of the combat (another player, companion, the ogres, etc.) it is extremely helpful in preventing you from getting absolutely overwhelmed with adds when other enemies start joining combat.

When you want to hit enemies with lightning or ice it's always worth it throwing a water bottle at them first 😁

That makes sense, but I thought I joined in the 1st round. I'll have to go back and look, maybe Findon was surprised and so it was really the 2nd.
