I can confirm this100%! I drive a 2014 ford explorer. The dealership I bought the vehicle knew about this issue and thought it needed a transmission replacement. after doing se reaserch and adding shudder fix it went away after driving it around for 5 miles. Going on almost a year now and it hasn't came back!
Thanks for putting this video up and sharing your knowledge ( as a auto technician myself) it's crazy how quick and easily people can misdiagnose vehicles and jump the gun on changing parts rather than doing research first.
Even after graduating from tech school in 2012 you never stop learning and reaserch is key before even turning a wrench, it can save you big time.
Awesome. Always good to do some research for sure
That was great! Simple fluid change. Routine maintenance wins!
I remember the Honda's with the CVT transmission when they first came out. They had a low speed shudder and Honda came out with a fluid update that cured it.
Good one OZ!
2017 Police Interceptor Utility (Explorer), 3.7 NA, 6F55 Transmission 130k miles. Did the same as your customer, changed valve cover and intake gaskets, spark plugs, and coils - no improvement to the shutter but acceleration felt the tiniest bit better. Plugs had some rusty looking corrosion from the tip through the threads. Did a drain and fill on the transmission, got out about 4.5/5qts of fluid. Replaced with 5qts Mercon LV and 2 tubes of Lubeguard shutterfix. Issue is 95/98% of the way gone. No more harsh shuttering, still tiny variations in RPM below 45mph when the torque converter isn't completely locked yet. Never had issues during full throttle accelerations but the 1200-2800rpm range, low throttle, up to 45mph area was the zone of concern I was targeting. I have all the work orders done on this car from back when the police department had it. They've been using 2 units of Lubeguard each time and the fix seems to last for ~10k miles at a time, and they did it 3 times before quote for a new transmission was ~6k and they sent the suv to decommission and auction. Definitely need a replacement torque converter but it's impossible without removing the entire powertrain - TC runs ~400$ for a remanufactured, with labor it would probably come out to ~1600$. Plan on doing this till it completely gives out or I sell it.
the Lube guard snake oil FIXX really worked on my 180kMi Acura TL. super well worth it
The most notable item that predicts shudder was the torque converter clutch pressure. When it was relatively low, say, ~35 PSI, it would shudder. When it climbs past 40 PSI or so, it would go away. This tells me that, for whatever reason, the transmission wasn't able to generate sufficient pressure to make the torque converter clutch grab as hard as it should have, thus causing intermittent slippage, which manifests as shudder. At least, that's what appears to be going on to my untrained, amateur, shade-tree mechanic eyes.
Sometimes shade tree mechanics are the best
Your killing me saying Turk most of the time! Good video
Yeah not even all the time either. Strange
Like in Super Troopers when they kept saying Meow. I bet someone bet him he wouldn't say "Turk" the whole video.
@@weekendhomeprojects haha probably
Me too!!!... and that's all I got to say about that.
"Turk" converter - he says... and that's all I got to say about that.
@scannerdanner called this stuff “Dr Shudder Fix” in a video he made last year. It was hilarious because they were so skeptical and it made them feel like they were less than professional to call it a fix. Since then it spurred an ongoing joke where they call anything related to a chemical fix “Dr ……… Fix”. “Dr Connection Fix” etc…. I love that you took the extra steps to prove it. Well done Azael.
mechanic in a can
I've been living with a shuddering transmission in my 2012 CR-V for about 5 or 6 years. I had taken it to a mechanic and he told me not to worry about it, that it would last many more years. I loved the CR-V but this shudder was driving me crazy. So, after reading lots of reviews, I ordered Instant Shudder Fixx and put it in my transmission 2 days ago. Afterwards, the wife and I took a 20 mile trip and there was not one shudder. Not even a hint of one!
In the future, if I ever have a vehicle that shudders I know what to do. Instant Shudder Fixx is easy, quick and effective!
I have 2010 CRV and it started shuddering. Ordered one shudder fix. Will see if it helps, gonna change the oil aswell
@@Team_Predathor This stuff's a miracle worker!
Do you know if this is good for CVT trans?
@@joseaviles9046 For use in ANY automatic transmission fluid except CVT, DCT, and Ford Type F [1986 and earlier models] applications.
I want to know also
I added the Lubegard Instant Shudder Fixx last week. Shifting pretty smooth now. No more shudder! 2013 Ford Explorer 163,000 miles.
@@Movieman1965 awesome
Great video, explanation and testing, Azael. Easy to follow and made total sense.
Awesome glad you enjoyed the video
Audio is back. Thank you Oz. Happy Resurrection Day.
Thanks Oz, this stuff is mandatory if hauling a car load around of bbws.
It was just cool seeing the issue while checking out scan data
I wish I had that problem! "A car load of BBWS!" I read that correctly right? You mean 4 to 6 big beautiful women? Doing the math I've dated girls upwards of 280 lbs and more and they didn't scare me one bit..! 😂
If you got 4 that means you're hauling upwards of 1000 lbs! And 6 makes 1500! That tranny is working overtime! Lol
Make your truck a LOWRIDER! Lol. Good thing I bought those leaf spring helpers for the rear leaf springs! My new truck at super low on even the smallest load of dirt or rocks.. but now it sits a lot higher without a load and sits flat with a huge load.. nice!
I'll work on the "load of BBWS"! 😂
Absolutely the best video ever on this product. Thank you 👍🏽
Great way to demonstrate the efficacy of the product. I have an oder for the same product arriving today for my 2009 Ford Flex. Changed fluid, did an upgrade to my valve with the Transgo shift kit, but nothing had changed in regards to the shuddering, especially under towing load. The tranny was rebuilt in 2019, too. I will let you know how it goes.
Used it on my Transit Van with 386,000 miles on original trans. Shudder completely gone!!
is that original engine azwell , ??
Good one, nice to see the before and after scan data 👍👍
It did work on my 2009 Subaru Tribeca with the 5 EAT Transmission, I did a full fluid flush using the OEM Subaru Fluid via transmission cooler lines to get all clean fluid into Transmission and the shudder was bad going uphill, There is a TSB from Subaru with the 08-09 Converters with Subarus of this vintage, However between labor and parts it's an expensive fix, So far it has not done it since I added this additive, No idea how long it will last, I'm hoping between the clean fluid and the additive it will be ok for a little while.
Still working? I just had to add this to my 03 4runner cause of torque converter shutter going up hills and it started to do it on the flat aswell. Anyway I just put it in today and it fixed it right up but I wonder for how long.
Didn't even know torque converter slip was a thing, LOL! Thanks for teaching me something new, Mr. Oz!!!!!! Rock on!!
Yea, at times it could feel like a misfire
I experienced this in my 2013
Explorer. Used this product and issue is gone as of Day 2. Three specific hills in my hometown I would experience it (2500RPM), used one tube of Lubegard, did not drain or flush transmission fluid, and issue is resolved as of now.
All your video's are great but I really enjoyed the before and after with the computer. And the bumps lol. You make things so easy to understand. Thank you for all your efforts. Happy Easter. I hope tomorrow isn't too hard on you.
07 dodge caliber cvt I get a shudder from 15-30 mph with heavy acceleration. After it warms up it generally goes away.
Incredible video. My 16 corvette has the tc shudder in gears 5-7. Going to do a triple flush with the new fluid, if that don’t work I will add some of this shudder fix. Wish me luck this is very stressful.
My honda odyssey 2017 was doing the same thing but for lower gears. Pretty much starting at 30km/h. My honda dealer told me to replace transmission for $18k. Ridiculous. I changed ATF for $114. Viola. the shudder was gone. By the way, I added this LubeGard instant shudder fixx just in case. My transmission fluid was never changed. My car km was 140k. my mechanic who change the ATF showed me the magnet plug which he took out to replace the old ATF. It had some metallic particles which looked big, but when I touched them it was just dust. It is pretty normal to have from what I have researched.
Clear as day , nice explanation .
This is why you change your fluid every 60K or so!
It’s crazy. Some manufacturers tell the owners that this is a sealed transmission and doesn’t need the fluid changed
Great video did it vibrate all the time or just in gear/driving so will it work even wen the car is at idle
Thanks man-great video! I sell oil for a living and always love learning more!

Awesome
30k miles since I put it in and still shifts smooth as butter.
Did you change the fluid then add it or just put the transcript shudder fix straight in there
@@michaelburtin3457
I changed mine first but you can do either. If you have a lot of miles and never changed it or you don't know the history and it has a lot miles then you may just leave the fluid and can still add this.
Pense que solo pasaba ami que El audio no aparece enseguida en UA-cam cuando subes un video 😮
Ya trabaja
Hi Oz. Another great video! Remove the transmission to change the the filter?? Ford has a better idea 😆
Wise wisdom on these engineers
I had what I thought was a engine problem.after watching several videos of shudder fix I'm giving a tube a shot. Transmission fluid looks good.hoping for good results. 2 ounces doesn't seem like much to do anything but if it helps I'm adding a second tube. At about 12 bucks I haven't got much to lose.at 2 ounces I'm happy I don't have to drain anything.anyone have a experience using it in a ford taurus?
I would have liked to see the results with just the fluid change and then see the results with the additive.
Now that would be a good video to make as well
Most people never change the fluid until the transmission acts up transmission shops. Don’t mind all the work 🤑 a lot dealerships say it’s lifetime fluid another great fix by 0z mechanico
Super clear explanation/demonstration. Thx so much for this valuable insight. Begs the question: Why isn’t tranny fluid changed as part of regularly scheduled dealer maintenance!? Crazy?!
Well I just did a fluid change and I drive for a living. The fluid change only lasted me about 1500 miles before I felt the slip/judder again. My dealership recommended a transmission replacement. They agreed to do another flush (for another 400 dollars) and add this additive. It has only been one day and about 300 miles. So I’m on fresh fluid and the additive. I’m hoping that it lasts for at least 20,000 miles and I’ll change the fluid out again. If it fails prior I’ll try to come back and say so but it’s doing great today
@@on-site4094
I think you made the big difference with the fluid change but if the additive worked, is it just a temporary fix? My bet is that it is but it will be interesting to find out. Oz, you been watching Scanner danner haven't you? 🤣🤣
With the scan tool being transparent ? Lol I put the screen shot of the whole tool but I didn’t like that it was completely covering the whole screen. And I was like hey can we just make it a bit transparent ?
This video was really helpful thanks
How long until the shudder came back though?
have you ever tried the ford skunk oil
What if you put this in your transmission and you find out it is a misfire will it screw up your torque converter?
Thanks Oz great video 👍
Miracle Juice
For sure. Fixed this problem
Has anyone tried this on a 2012 f250? I just started researching about shudder fix and I’m only seeing it help with ford explorers.
Mine just started shuddering last week. And I can feel it shudder bad at 35 to 45mph
Where can u buy that stuff ?
What exactly does changing the motor oil do for a transmission? Transmission and motor oil are two completely different thing.
Did I say motor oil ??? Because it’s transmission
Awesome 👏

Did you know vehicles don't have parking brakes, they have e-brakes?
Your link to the OBD Scan tool sure isn't anything like the one you show in the video. Does this one even show tranny issues? Doesn't look it does near as much
Thanx bro

how many miles old oil?
Im sure it’s the original oil
Awesome
Would in be explained as a pump? The engine spins the converter which sucks up trans fluid then expels it under a higher pressure. This higher pressurized fluid is pushed against valve plates which make clutch disks come in contact with their drive plates which causes the main shaft to spin which the pins the wheels via differential.
Does this works for cvt?
Lube guard has a cvt fix
