ACW Sales Guys Shoot... LUGERS?

  • If the 1911 had an "arch nemesis", I think we can all agree, it would be the Luger. In the spirit of "know thy enemy", our less than Dynamic Duo went out and bought Lugers for themselves to better understand what it's like to be on the losing side of a World War. Stay tuned, as we have two "special appearance" Lugers that have unique histories all on their own. It's always .45 Friday here at ACW, but maybe today we can make an exception.

The touchy - feely angst over the Dachau pistol was a little overdone but also kind of understandable. The fact that the current caretaker of these historic pistols allowed you guys to not just handle but also shoot that pistol is just outstanding. You guys just held significant history and were allowed to shoot a museum quality firearm. Congratulations!
I do watch one of your videos now & then, and enjoy your 1911 content. This was a refreshingly different look at something very few of us get the chance to see, much less handle and shoot. Congratulations again on the fact that each of you managed to find and purchase original pre-WWII Lugers. I wish I could afford one myself.

The Dachau pistol was a little strange to hold, just thinking about its history.

    Good video.
If you are handling a Luger, be aware that some have a safety that works different. So, work the lever and when a little piece comes up and blocks the sear, then it is on safe.

Add the lanyard strap, place the lanyard over your off hand shoulder with the firing arm through the lanyard loop. Firing a Luger P08 with a lanyard is a push of the hand on the pistole and a tension pull of the lanyard against the body to create a "isometric" style hold maintaining the weapon on target during firing. This facilitates rapid recovery of the sight picture.

Walther P.38s next please. That is P dot 38 military Nazi Hitler Walther P-38s made by Walther, Spreewerk, and Mauser. Not post war P-38s or P dash 38s. You can bet they are haunted by the Nazi officers that carried them and you can bet they were worn a lot and shot little. If it were not for the Walther Nazi P.38 most of the features on modern 9mm auto pistols today would not be there with due respect to the Browning Hi Power contributions. Thanks for sharing.

That could be fun. The P.38 is a very revolutionary and influential pistol in its own right!

@@lorenrogers9269 After we filmed this, I did some research via the gun's serial and a few other things and came to the same conclusion. I'm by NO means a Luger "person", we were simply going off what we were told by the museum curator.
