Thanks for the video, this will be the first game I will have bought twice (got it on Playstation at release) and it's 20 bucks rn on Steam. Just a question why no FSR2? I had a very good experience with Witcher 3 on Deck with FSR2. Also is a stable locked 45 fps possible? I play heavier games at 45fps/90hz and it feels smooth enough considering I have to play 30 fps with blurry image on PS5 because no patch lol. I'm sorry if you answered some of these questions already perhaps, i was skipping a bit through the video and I'm planning on watching it fully once i got the game and have more time.
Hey, thanks for watching :) I too got RDR2 twice :D Pre-ordered it and played it day 1 on PS4 and again on Steam Deck. Honestly I don't remember if I tested FSR2 or not, generally I try to avoid it or set it to Ultra Quality since I don't like how it looks in most cases. But in case of RDR2 the quality and performance of the game are excellent so there was really no need for it. Locking the game to 45FPS should give a very solid experience, I left mine at 60FPS since I was enjoying 60FPS in the desert locations. Maybe in few areas or missions it can drop to 40FPS but nothing major. The only issue I had with the game is memory leak as it kept crashing the Deck after 2 hours of gaming. But otherwise I managed to finish the entire game on Deck. The only solution without messing with the game files was to close the game before it crashes and launch it again.
For some reason, rdr2 on my steam deck runs pretty bad. It goes down to 28-21 fps depending on the location whilst using ultra and medium to high graphical settings. I tried lowering it but i still have this problem, and idk why. This game used to run really well even with high settings but now it runs dogshit. Do you have any clue as to what may be the problem?
The game started crashing on me more frequently towards the end but performance remained stable. Do you have enough extra space on your disk drive? I usually leave 10% of my total disk drive free since I noticed degraded performance when it's completely full.
Just try Factory Reset bro I got problem with Resident evil 4 when every people can play at 60fps but i only have 25-30. After i do Factory reset the game run very smooth at 60 and remember backup your save file game before you do factory reset
For some reason rdr2 runs horribly on my steam deck oled. Like I’m trying to reinstall now and see if that helps. There’s good amount of space on storage left and ram is normal amount.
Hi. For me it crashes so bad that the whole steam deck has to be rebooted. Let me know if you have faced something like this and if you have a fix for it. I am using the OLED Steam Deck and I am running the game on Proton Experimental.
My Steam Deck did freeze a few times (3 - 4 times) during my 25 hours of gameplay so far. A couple of times I had to reboot the Deck. Not sure if this is a unique issue for the game since it happened to me in another game too. Since it's not very common I haven't been bothered by it but if it starts happening more often I'll try investigating it and make another video. So far so good pardner! P.S: In the Graphics menu you can see the memory usage and if other app are running, my guess is; the game is running out of memory sometimes and crashing the Deck causing the need to do a reboot. There's plenty of VRAM for the game so it's weird. At least it isn't too frequent.
@@UntitledCritic Proton not being fully compatible to it is a huge factor that can take on it's performance, im surprised they never really optimized this game to this day.
@@apenasumgamer8724 Last night the game crashed once again for me after about 2 hours of gameplay. It seems the memory leak issue was never fixed on PC. The only simple fix for now is to quit the game and re-launch it every hour or so to avoid fully crashing the Deck. Unfortunately Rockstar doesn't have good track record of fixing their PC games even when the issue isn't too complicated to fix.
@@UntitledCritic thanks for telling me that i just bought a steam deck and have been looking for info, i did want to play rdr2 but i guess i will have to wait for longer or find a good proton version that runs it smoothly
@@apenasumgamer8724 I wouldn't count on a fix considering the PC version been out for almost 5 years so chances are low for them to fully fix their game now. Honestly it's a great game and beside this issue it mostly runs great on Deck. Also congrats on getting a Steam Deck! Hope you enjoy it :)

Alright pardners, I just published my review of the game on Steam Deck: untitledcritic.com/review/red-dead-redemption-2-review-on-steam-deck/

The deck would be perfect if it had VRR. I lock RDR2 to 40 fps because I can't stand when there are dips due to the stuttering.

check your Vram of the steam deck , make sure it not 4GB

Sadly it's not well optimized on PC and the experience overall can be a mixed bag. I still enjoyed it but the crashes were super annoying.
I just bought red dead redemption number 2 ultimate edition for 29.99 on steam store it’s on sale till December 4th

Awesome 🩵🩵🩵
Would be great if I could get it to run but every video and tutorial I’ve looked up is outdated and doesn’t match what I see as I follow so yeah
What error are you getting?
I hope this game goes on sale on steam store on Black Friday I’m not gonna spend 59.99 for a 6 year old game
I think I got it with 60% off, it'll probably go on sale next week during Autumn sale.
