Considering its a more recent vídeo and benchmarKing always lean to the better visual fidelity side, i would say his settings are probably better looking but with little to no difference on the fps Lets hope the King himself answers it
Hardware Unboxed released their findings a number of years ago and they have really made a difference for many, many people. I used them myself for a while because it does provide a good base for visuals to performance. But...I have no idea what graphics drivers they were using then. With all the updates to all graphics cards up to this point in time, I think starting with Hardware Unboxed is still a good starting point, and the individual players can tweak it from there.
the real joy is going through guides like these to figure out which tweak causes no noticable loss in image quality but magically boosts framerate, and keep tweaking here and there until you have achieved a noticeable framerate improvement with no real loss in image quality, rather than paying hundreds of dollars more for a better card that achieves the same framerate while keeping the ultra preset.
it is very confusing with such a category method we have to look for one by one, can you make the video sequentially according to the settings in the game? or give me a screenshot of the optimal settings in this video
A lot of people thing this game is unoptimized for a 2019 game but the game is just massively futurepeoofed. That cant be said about the pc ports that come out these days.
DO NOT USE FSR. Look out of any window or use the binoculars and the game gets pretty funky, same goes for certain weather conditions, especially easy to see on/around tress. I have tried this on both a 3080 and 6800xt and the same thing happens on both. So just use TAA or if you if you can DLSS, personally would recommend neither DLSS or FSR but DLSS is overall less buggy.
You can use a custom DLSS to fix the sharpening. Later versions of DLSS past 2.5.1 don’t have sharpening capabilities at all. This fixes almost all the problems with DLSS. It’s a shame that FSR has busted scopes and binoculars because I think it actually looks best out of the three options. Good level of sharpness and not many artifacts in motion.
@@benchmarking4386 Yeah but you cant get rid of the annoying artifacts FSR causes so I wouldn't ever use it over DLSS if I had the option to choose between the two. FSR does look better though and that is how I found those issues out as I was using FSR over DLSS due to the weird hair and shimmering issues. Now I just use TAA as both are not really ideal and distracting
I use VSR to set resolution to 1800p and then I put fsr on quality and the quality/performance is great on my 6700xt, almost max settings never going below 60fps.
@@brzimtrco6142 Its not about the FPS gain its about the artifacts that FSR cause. Its why I said do not use it as you cannot fix them and its not any different between people or computers it seems. As seen by others that have outlined this issue elsewhere. Unless you really need to push your FPS up then you may as well just stick to TAA. Or if you have Nvidia swap DLSS files over as it does help. The FPS gain will be pretty much identical to DLSS .
Woow, this is an amazing video, extensive benchmark and explanations of different settings impact on performance. Thanks for this vid man, you've SIR earned my sub.
One tip to note is that if you using the rockstar launcher version you need a mod to swap dlss for you because if not the launcher detects the file and restore it
I'm using the new 3.5.0 DLSS version with that garbage rockstar + epic games launcher, the file doesn't get replaced with the old 2.2.0 DLSS file that RDR2 uses. Maybe they've fixed that. Restarted many times, still there.
I have to thank you! I got a new PC and couldn't get my game to run at a steady 120fps. I followed this quide and was able to play the game with beautiful graphics and a steady frame rate. Thank you!
I'm running a 7950X3D and 4070 Ti Super. I followed your optimized settings, choosing the higher option on the 6 highlighted with color, with the only change being that I chose DLSS Quality (3.6.0) paired with a 2.25x DLDSR setting - 4k resolution on 1440p monitor. Running the built-in benchmark I got a result of 119 FPS average and I am absolutely blown away. I'm sticking with DLSS+DLDSR but when testing the FSR Quality option the game was easily locked to 144 to match my gsync display with power to spare. THANK YOU SO MUCH. As far as I'm concerned, you are THE top of the top. Edit > Updating the default DLSS .dll to 3.6.0 increased benchmark fps average from 113 to 119. Edit2 > After 6 hours without issue I had to replace the original DLSS .dll file as I encountered a game breaking bug when returning to Beechers Hope after capturing Marshall Thurwell with Sadie. Bummer.

I come from Brazil to say that your explanation, even though it is not in my native language and that I have a limited understanding of English, your explanation was so good that I was able to understand everything. I'm very grateful. With your recommendations, I was able to run the game much better and with almost no visual impact.
This Guide is the absolute best hands down there is no comparison, I went from an average of mid 60's low 70's to an average of high 90's to around 110 whilst making the game look better. 3070 Ti overclocked with afterburner 5800x overclocked with ryzens software 32gb of ddr4 at 3200mhz 2160-1440p at 144hz, sometimes I use nvidia dllsr to goto downscaled 4k resolution but I avoid it most of the time.
I really appreciate these videos, you've helped me immensely to get the best look and FPS out of GTA V and RDR2 so far, will probably be back for others!

I was getting 60-63 FPS with ultra settings, I tried your reccomended settings and now I'm getting 100-110 FPS. And theres no difference between ultra and your settings. Really appericate you dude. Btw my hardware is RTX 4060 and Ryzen 5 5600.

Wow thank you! This is the perfect guide and breakdown. I had no idea what most of these did. I just got the game on sale and recently got a hand-me-down gaming PC with an older 1070 TI and a i7-980 CPU, still a great very capable gaming PC so I knew I could run this, but I am also trying to run it on a 4K monitor, so I was struggling getting 30 FPS! I just ran benchmark settings after changing all these, (I used FSR) and now it's hitting 30 and not going any lower at all! So stoked!
Brother you are magnificent, tbh on par or even better than digital foundry
Thank you so much i went from 60fps with dips into the 40s in the benchmark to stable 80-90fps.
First of all, thankls for this vid, helped me to raise FPS twice! Sad you didn't do such tutorial about GTA IV ;)
Same here! ))
Shout out to the guy who really discuss every single setting, I watch every second of this vid, keep it up man!
I was literally looking for a guide like this yesterday as i started RDR2 for the first time in a couple years. The timing!
Absolutely GOATED the only guide that helped me. And the effort man, great showcase, 10/10 best benchmark on planet earth bro
Nice video ! Keep Up !!
Moroccan btw right ?
Yes 😉
You're the Hero PC gaming community had been waiting for
Extremely useful & practical video. Even if my hardware differs, these are good settings to start with and the methodology is invaluable.
This is the best video settings video I've ever seen, amazing work
This video is amazing, thank you so much for all the testing.
These suggestions took me from 62-65 fps on max to about 110 fps in most areas. Massive difference and the game still looks great.
Thanks! I have been looking for good looking optimized rdr2 graphics, got to say this helped me a lot.
This fixed my performance issues a lot thank you!
Hey thanks for posting the optimized settings in a completely random order I love moving back and forth instead of just going down the list! 10/10 smartest content creator alive
While it is a great video, i can't help but agree.
Loved tbe video but you're right, this category order ain't it
Man he already did all the work for you painstakingly testing all of the settings. If it’s that much of a problem for your lack of attention span, just skip to the end of the video where he shows all the settings at once lmao. What a dumb criticism
This is one of my favourite channels on yt right now, you make super well done videos
Once again great job with this guide! Keep up the good work!
The best performance I’ve seen yet. Thank you.
what a great job and incredible dedication, thanks for what you do
This was amazing! Please do this to as many games as you possibly can!
Dude i junped from 70fps with fsr quality to over 120fps on average with these simple settings. Thanks man, however i do have to say i highly dislike the grass detail level so i put it to 8/10
70fps is already enough for the game lol, if you play on all ultra just keep playing lol, why do you need 120 fps
@@americanboy1332 maybe he wants to play at a higher refresh rate, maybe he wants to install mods and needs the performance margin, maybe he doesn't wants his pc to overheat, there are many reasons my guy.
You honestly deserve so many more subs man, I just discovered your channel, feels like a gold mine.
There are things missing from the optimized settings section and nothing is in order compared to the in game menu
My fav benchmark channel. I realized I wasn't subbed so I just subscribed. Don't stop making these.
Why did you do this in random? You should have done this in the order.
Even im being grateful, he did it in the most confusig order possible. It is almost as manatees in an aquarium choose randomically ballons with the settings order.
Yeah i would watch the hardware unboxed instead
To be fair he did in a order but is for category, filters, shadows, reflection etc etc
He did it though, which is nice and easy, the settings all at the end for you to screenshot. Gratefulness and thanks are free you kn0w
The way he did it was ALOT better lol. Explains everything here by category and presents it well.
by far the most detailed guide with explanations of what each setting does and the related performance impact of each setting. well done, thank you for your work. just as a side note the settings i had decided on prior to watching your vid were very close to what you had with a couple of exceptions which i'm going to do comparison on. your data on the performance impact compared to the visuals on each setting is invaluable...thx mate
How do you think this compares to the Hardware Unboxed optimization guide?
Considering its a more recent vídeo and benchmarKing always lean to the better visual fidelity side, i would say his settings are probably better looking but with little to no difference on the fps
Lets hope the King himself answers it
Hardware Unboxed released their findings a number of years ago and they have really made a difference for many, many people. I used them myself for a while because it does provide a good base for visuals to performance. But...I have no idea what graphics drivers they were using then. With all the updates to all graphics cards up to this point in time, I think starting with Hardware Unboxed is still a good starting point, and the individual players can tweak it from there.
the real joy is going through guides like these to figure out which tweak causes no noticable loss in image quality but magically boosts framerate, and keep tweaking here and there until you have achieved a noticeable framerate improvement with no real loss in image quality, rather than paying hundreds of dollars more for a better card that achieves the same framerate while keeping the ultra preset.
it is very confusing with such a category method
we have to look for one by one, can you make the video sequentially according to the settings in the game?
or give me a screenshot of the optimal settings in this video
13:47 has everything laid out for you

Before this video I was doing Permutations and Combinations of all settings ...
Thank You So Much!
A lot of people thing this game is unoptimized for a 2019 game but the game is just massively futurepeoofed. That cant be said about the pc ports that come out these days.
Yeah the second I saw the menu on release, I figured you can get the equivalent of a PS6 remaster.
Such a great video! I came back playing RDR2 but now in PC, your video helped me out so much with my visual preferences. Keep it up!!
Yes both FSR and DLSS have problems but overall imo FSR looks more stable and sharper specially around moving foliage and trees.
Thanks for this vid man, you've SIR earned my sub.
thanks for the video but absolutely hate the fact you couldnt go through the menu in order....
you need to understand the settings and not just copy paste them
@@dxvthvbyssvbsxrbsyxudsmxmbxrxd You don't need to understand anything. Use optimised settings from this channel for every games and I had 0 problems.
Number one i love your job 🔥🔥☺️
One tip to note is that if you using the rockstar launcher version you need a mod to swap dlss for you because if not the launcher detects the file and restore it
So if its on steam you can just replace the file, right?
@@kevinfromsales6842 i dont know because you still need the launcher for it to open the game as far as i know
@@allansolano5587 yeah I'm not sure. I replaced the file and dlss still looks like garbage at times.
I'm using the new 3.5.0 DLSS version with that garbage rockstar + epic games launcher, the file doesn't get replaced with the old 2.2.0 DLSS file that RDR2 uses. Maybe they've fixed that. Restarted many times, still there.
@@mcgmgc I hope it is fixed. I tried cyberpunk with the new 3.5 file and it looks great.
Here I am in your video with another game!! You are doing such a great job dude thank you so much!! Much love!
13:40 in my pc direct X crash the game every moment
yes it works!@@bufordmustang302
I have to thank you! I got a new PC and couldn't get my game to run at a steady 120fps. I followed this quide and was able to play the game with beautiful graphics and a steady frame rate. Thank you!
DX12 is unfortunately on this game not good optimized. Frame stuttering everywhere
Damn he is back... great video as always my man!
You have one of the best channel for gaming. Tired of people saying just run everything at ultra when a lot of these settings have no difference
This is how you make tutorial for optimizing settings of games! Subbed!
This is very useful, I went from about 55 fps to about 70 without noticeable quality change!
Went from around 40 fps to 70 without making my game look potato. legend
Legitimately one of the most useful YT channels on the platform, I'm always recommending your videos to friends
easly the BEST benchmark video in youtube
Very well made, helpfully, and I formative video sir. Well done and thank you.

Absolutely Perfect ❤ video
I just want to tell you that this guide is amazing. Thanks for your work.
Bummer.
this is THE best rdr2 fps optimization guide on youtube. i love how he shows an example for 8gb vram.
legit good guide, improved my performance by like 40% ingame thanks a lot
Thanks for the guide! I was so lost with all the settings, and wanted best quality & performance for my hardware.. this guide did just that!
Nice job on this. TY for all that hard work!
Love u man searching for your old video yesterday 😂😂
Wow, just wow! You sir deserve to be on a larger gaming channel for such work, I've never since watching youtube seen such a detailed, informative video on a topic such as this. BRAVO!!!
Insanely well done man. I really appreciate it! Such a great and helpful video. Respect from the Netherlands

Thank you so much king! We need more folks like you :)
Incredible video! So concise and we'll prepared. Thank you!
That was unexpected and most certainly welcome, cheers mate! :)
Dude, thank you so much for making this video, your knowledge on the game engine and ways to improve performance helped me enjoy red dead redemption to the fullest.
Hello! I come from Brazil to say that your explanation, even though it is not in my native language and that I have a limited understanding of English, your explanation was so good that I was able to understand everything. I'm very grateful. With your recommendations, I was able to run the game much better and with almost no visual impact.
i Literally Goes from 58FPS to Avg 85 FPS!!!!!!

Excellent video mate. Followed your settings exactly and gained around 30fps and the game still looks amazing.
thank you for this vid not only did my performance go up but the game looks even better than the settings i use
I really appreciate these videos, you've helped me immensely to get the best look and FPS out of GTA V and RDR2 so far, will probably be back for others!
