I blame the car companies, when they show their cars doing things that cars shouldn't be doing, everyone thinks "oh, I can do that and more!". This is a car, not a truck and should be treated as such, but people instantly think they have some huge monster truck and it can go through everything.
Ehhh... ridículo eso te sirve justo para usar una vez, pero si lo tenes que hacer en un trayecto largo sin los neumáticos adecuados o con clavos.... bueno, vas a parar cada 100 mts
Set of chains are handy too. You probably could have kept going up that road with a decent set of chains. I'm just north of you in BC, those stock tires aren't made for PNW deep wet snow.
With stock factory tires you will get stuck 🤯so don't waste money on traction boards... I have a 2018 Jeep Renegade Sport, It is lifted and it has mud tires on it, I go through anything, that is being prepared 😭😂😭
Winter tires bro. BFG KSIs, would be a whole lot better where you're wheelin'. You are right about the MaxTrax. Can definitely make the difference between a mere slow down, and a full on crisis. Cheers
Buy a set of chains. That way you can just put them on when you're going to hit a snowy trail like this one, rather than having to get out once you're already stuck and try to fight with the back and forth moving those things around. The boards are handy for when you get into something unexpected, but if you're knowingly going into a snowy less traveled road slap the chains on and away you go 😎
Every time I have gotten stuck in my Subaru, traction boards would have helped immensely in rectifying my situation. Thanks for uploading, your rival drivers in Subaru XV Crosstreks do a lot of the same stuff Jeep Renegade Trailhawks drivers do off-road. Your content and other similar stuff is very relevant for those seeking off-road adventure in crossover vehicles.
Now that more and more crossovers are becoming off road oriented many want to take them out but are concerned about the capability because everyone thinks they need a truck or Wrangler to off road. My goal is to show just how reasonably capable they are.
Those Tires are no good for snow. I have a 2015 renegade. I live in the mountains up state NY. 17” wheels. The best tires I ever bought for this jeep are “Falken wild peak AT trail tires”. I was alway a BF Goodrich guy. But BF doesn’t have a 17” AT tire to fit the renegade. I love these Falken All Terrain. Great in snow, rain, slush, Up n down hill. Thick gripping rubber, They look awesome on the jeep to.
im in burlington vt i have a 2011 sierra z71 1500, i put on those falken wildpeak at2s and actually returned them... iv never seen such a shit tire in my life, my ass end would slip out on rain.. goodyear or cooper only way to go and if you have the money Michelin and if you really have the money, nokian hawks
Of course, if you don't get the update for your transmission control module you could be dead out of the water with error code p0128 with no 4x4 lock. Seems silly it's disabled if the coolant isn't 100% perfect, but once I got the update it performed better at lower gears and RPMS.
They need to make locking diffs for the renegade. You can get a locking rear diff in the Cherokee trailhawk with the same damned drivetrain. Renegade gets left with nothing. Good video. Thanks.
Yes, we should have a spare tire, jack and tire iron. Unfortunately if you buy a 2020 Jeep Renegade Latitude you don't get a spare tire kit. They are on backorder until late 2021 or early 2022.
....that was a well traveled road for people with the proper trucks with decent tires...regardless, good PSA....next time when you go get tires get something in an A/T tire, it will likely double the amount of places you can go without having to take out the traction mats....carry the traction mats anyways...
I can’t stand my Jeep. I have a 2016 Trailhawk edition. You can’t get off road tires for the Renegades. The wheel arches are too small. I have BF Goodrich All Terrain TAs on our Honda Element for crying out loud. The Element is a way better vehicle than the crap Jeep. The Jeep left my wife stranded on the highway with less than 12,000 miles and only about 1 year old, because the main main cooling fan failed and the vehicle overheated. The window seals whistle at highway speeds, the center air vent doesn’t put out hardly any air, the E-brake turns on by itself randomly (with or without the seatbelt on) the radio shuts off randomly while driving, the blue tooth is horrific, the wipers work inconsistently front and rear. Then there is the air bag issue, it tells you it needs to be serviced and so does the E-brake. The seatbelt alarm comes on while driving down the highway and I’m wearing the seatbelt. The front left speaker blew after 10,000 miles and no, I don’t blast the radio. The 4 wheel drive is horrible in the snow and ice assuming it will even turn on. Mine shut off on the last big snow we got a few weeks ago and would not turn back on. The down hill assist also quit working. The sunroof opens fine but is super sluggish to close. The remote start stopped working for a few weeks to top it off. This has got to be the worst car I have ever owned and I’ve owned three Fords that were pretty bad. You couldn’t pay me to take another POS Jeep. This vehicle is an absolute joke.
Sounds like a lemon to me. Had none of those issues. The center vent thing is real but it does blow regular air, just not heat. There's a large amount of off road tires available now even the KO2 and Open Country AT3
I have the trailhawk renegade and the dealer says they are all terrain but the dsidewall says HT not AT. Clearly not all terrain tires. I just upgraded mine to the Cooper AT3 4S 7 days ago and will be taking them into the Nevada desert then into Utah and the Arizona desert. Well see how well they do. So far so good except they are a little bit noisier.
I had the same problem. I just got the renegade and first time in snow took turn too fast and slid into plowed snow. Just one tire off in the plowed mound and was stuck. I had to wait for truck to pull me out. Like others have said, those street tires they come with are lousy on snow. I just had Pirelli All Terrain plus 225/65/R17 tires put on my latitude and they fit fine and I have a little more ground clearance. Plan to also get some traction boards just in case.
Correct me if I'm wrong. Tyres look all season or just m+s only and not winter ones. Have you tried typical winter tyres? I'm quite surprised as I believe my Q3 with winter tyres would beat that road with ease.
I do a simmular trick all the time with old tire chains. I have several sets of old bar guards that don't fit anything. The trick is to lay them out in front of or behind the wheel and ram them in between the ground and the tire to get them started. I usually use a snow shovel handle to ram them in(stuck cars tend to attract snow shovels).
Something I wasn't aware at the time of the video is youre not supposed to use chains on the Trailhawk models. They have bigger tires than other models so must have clearance issues.
So, I pulled up to the market today and saw this piece of metal sitting there. And I thought to myself: that must be the new Honda box. Nope, it's a Jeep. Seriously people? Why do all vehicles these days look the same? There's nothing special here. Whatever happened to the good old days when a Jeep was a Jeep and didn't look like a Honda or about 10 other vehicle boxes that I can name. Honestly people, all these modern SUV'S look the same. They look cheap, and probably won't get you through the first 100,000 miles without breaking down. No thanks, y'all. I remember when a Jeep was a Jeep and was set apart from all other SUV's. It was the SUV, before SUV'S were cool. Now, it's just like everything else.

You can have as many drive wheels as you want, but without snow tires you're not going anywhere.
Every jeep renegade owner should have All terrains.
All you needed was cat litter, works great for traction...
On icy surface. Deep snow cat litter doesn’t help much
Dont blame the jeep, i been tru snow like this, you got wrong tires and a bad driver maybe🤷♂️
Or be less of an idiot and spend the money on proper tires and not get stuck in something that it would never be stuck in
Wheeling by yourself is a failure -never do it.
Better recommend snow tyres!(or at least a shovel, in fact you should never go off road in snow without a shovel)
True. I'm going to try and make a more comprehensive video this winter
