I’m 72. When I hear this I remember sock hops and slow dancing with girls who held the flip in their hair solidly in place with Aqua Net hair spray. That scent fueled my adolescence. Depending in your or her height, you could literally rest your chin on that flip. While reminiscing about those days, we oldsters should bear in mind that youth is remembered fondly by most people because it’s the period when one has no real responsibilities. Speaking of which, we can hardly shirk our generation’s responsibility for the current condition of the world since we have largely been in charge for the last 30 years. Our post war Baby Boom generation produced four Presidents (Clinton, GWBush, Obama and Trump) since 1990. You can decide for yourself how they stack up as representative of our generation. Also, the current group of younger people we like to decry are the children we raised. The state of the world, both good and bad, are mostly the result of our “leadership”.
I turn 13 tomorrow and when I was a little baby and all the way through my life my dad and I will listen to this song and it t brings back so many memories. He would turn it on and we would sing it and enjoy the moment. It brings a tear to my eye listening to this song.
My mom and aunt were both pregnant in 1987. I was born in October; my cousin didn't survive. Now 6 months ago I was diagnosed with stage 3 non small cell, both in my right lung! I'm praying that I beat this one too! This song has been helping me get through them both! Sadly I lost my older brother, my best friend 2yrs ago to non-small cell, he fought for 13months! We both listened to Rosie's angelic, beautiful voice to help us through rough days! Her voice is so very soothing! She is one of the angels I will see in heaven, along with my brother! If this song doesn't hit you where it counts you've got problems. The everlasting, classic American 50s sound topped with absolute angelic vocals. The innocence captured in her voice is like a time capsule that is opened every time the song is played. This song is one of the things that just makes life better.
The U.S government is actually using a name of a continent to its citizens and country. We are U.S. citizens. Citizens of the United States. The United States is a country but America its not a country America its a continent. The whole entire continent was already named America 269 years way before the United States of America became a nation or even existed. Everyone on the American continent is an American likewise Asia are Asians, Africa are Africans and Europe are Europeans.🤦

This was our wedding song; my beautiful wife in white and I, in my U.S. Navy dress uniform with full medals..... Our guests said, it was like watching a movie watching us slow dance this song at our reception. Ironically enough my beautiful wife's name is Rose. 19 years and still going strong, we've been told we look and act like newly weds. Sometimes it seems like Fate is cruel, but all we can do is carry on and hope for the best. I hope you are doing well in life in spite of everything.
Me, i've been listening to this song since Rosie was a teenager. It was love at first hear. A lot of people have covered this gem of a song but Rosie owns this song. that is why I am here almost every day. My Aunt Rosie was a believer in Jesus as our savior, ask Him into your heart let His holy spirit prove He is Real. The spiritual energy returns to the source (heaven) when the physical body in is gone. So yes Aunt Rosie is with Jesus!
I am 79. I keep playing this song over and over. It is "hypnotic." While I was thinking of writing this, I played it 3 more times. Music is all about love and this song is about "pure love."
John covered this song on a 1974 album and mentioned Rosie in the intro. When I interviewed Rosie on the telephone for a newspaper story in 2006, we talked about that. It meant a lot to her not only that John covered the song, but that he mentioned her! She was very nice.
@@kelleydupuis1059 "Angel Baby" was not included on Lennon's 1975 album, "Rock 'n' Roll", a collection of 50s and 60s covers. It was included on the CD, "Menlove Ave", released in 1986. "Angel Baby" did appear on the CD reissue of "Rock 'n' Roll" in 2003.
In remembrance of Rosie of " Rosie and the Originals " who passed on 7weeks ago. This song from the half-Mexican Rosalie 'Rosie' Mendez Hamlin is considered the founding anthem of the low-riders of East Los Angeles. Isn't she beautiful?
I'm nineteen, but find myself obsessed with this era of music. To all those commenting about when this song was popular I'd love to hear what life was like then. Things have really changed. I admire the purity of this time, when people still believed in love. The comments of people talking about slow dancing with their sweethearts melts my heart. Where is that spirit nowadays? Why are boys so crude and non-romantic now. I hope I get my slow dance someday.
Why are girls so masculin and non feminine these days??? Men have not changed its the women who have. Go watch Kevin samuels. You will get the answer to your question.
hi Destiny I am now 70 and the best time for music was the early 60s. Life was so simple and uncomplicated we went to dances and listened to great music. No drugs or phones people were friendly. and when we danced it was sometimes slow and close with your girl.. A way better time to grow up I hate whats happening with young people now. Sorry You had to be there to understand regards Bill
I was a sophmore in high school when this song was released. It was always a favorite at the sock hop. I remember the girls would hold you tight when dancing to this song. The angelic girlish voice by Rosie was dreamy. popular, and memorable to this day. (Go Sunset bisons -Dallas, TX - class of '62)
I was a freshman in High School in 1961 (now 74) when this song came out. REAL women back then. No multi colored hair, no tattoos, no metal trinkets (tackle box) through their nipples, nose lips, tongue etc. R.I.P. Sweet beautiful woman.
Oh my goodness, I remember dancing to this at a party. in those innocent days. If you held a girls hand that was something so special ....we were in our early prime then......
Rosie Hamlin a beautiful girl and great song. I was 15 when this song came out in 1961 now I'm 76 but love the song as much now as I did then. Sadly, Rosie passed away on March 30th 2017 and will always be missed.
In the summer of 1968 I found myself so far from home sleeping in mud and wondering if I would be alive in the morning. Rosie, Elvis.Buddy, and all those others kept me from going insane, surviving the year and coming home. I wish I could shake their hands and thank them.
Thank you to all the overlooked heros who served. God bless you for your sacrifices. Many of us lost friends.... and lovers. But ours was THE BEST generation to be alive.
A few years ago, I sang this song in at a bar....when I finished many people(mostly girls) came up to me and said that I did a wonderful job. Prior to singing, I rehearsed...over, over, over, home...in the car...everywhere...it took about a month...to get memorized. I was surprised how much positive feedback I got. My confidence level was high. I wanted to do it ... damm it....and I did. I put my heart and soul into that song. I am a male singing Rosie's song. It was a confidence builder...indeed.
Dude I don't even sing but I thought the same thing...this would be a powerful song if I could sing it...beautiful expressive emotional radical melody churns my soul.
I was 18 just out of high school a complete nerd scared of girls, but even we science geeks had an angel baby we dreamed she would smile and melt our hearts. Her name was Sheila Frost with long black hair, saphire blue eyes and a smile that lit up the room.

I remember when I was just a little guy, my aunt would hold me tight, rock me to sleep singing this song with tears in her eyes. My aunt had such a beautiful voice; this song hurts my heart when I hear it even 30 years later.
Tommy Dang Tommy! Who’s slicing them onions again?? 😢 Glad your aunt gave you an awesome gift by introducing you to this timeless classic 😊 if you have kids, please keep the tradition alive...
Hopefully your Aunt will be reunited with that cousin
The pain of loosing a child is something that can only be alleviated by that hope.
My beloved brother since deceased never recovered from losing his daughter at 32 years of age to cancer
My wishes are they were able to reunite.
Let the music soothe your soul brother.
It hurts because you got so much heart.
If it hurts so much that tells me that someone loved you so much and that is a treasure.
Damn got me tearing up over here
Hey we are here because we love this kind of music. The ones who missed this wil never understand how lucky we have been, we are previelidge people.xx to you all.
The original sock-hop song. My first slow dance. Great time to grow up....

I bought the 45 when I was 11yrs old! I'm now 60yrs old, beat cancer, stage 4 small cell 10 years ago, only 1% in the world beat it & make it this long! I loved this song when I was 11yrs old, when I bought the 45, & I'll will continue loving it untill my last breath!🌹❤️🧚🎶💫🌈💖🌟🌻💒🎵💎✳️❇️🥀

If this song doesn't hit you where it counts you've got problems. The everlasting, classic American 50s sound topped with absolute angelic vocals. The innocence captured in her voice is like a time capsule that is opened every time the song is played. This song is one of the things that just makes life better.
I am way, way north of 70 and agree with you 1000%!
That innocence died in Dallas, Texas , in the quagmires of Vietnam, and with the arrival of four lads from Liverpool.
@@armandoruiz8758 Amazing how naive and ethnocentric US citizens are. Mind-boggling stupidity.
At 68, I was lucky enough to have older brothers and sisters. Music played in the house all the time. I remember jumping off the school bus after school and running home to watch Bandstand every weekday! I grew up with a deep appreciation for music. I miss those days. This song sure takes me back!!!!

I'm 72 as of January 11th miss are old time music and all the wonderful and beautiful songs we had woooo
Ahhhh what a perfect night with the perfect song and a perfect life since then.....
Every now and then, whenever we're alone I'll sing it to my beautiful wife......my Angel Baby!
Oh you are so lucky..I've lost or was abused by every man I've ever loved. But I'm still a romantic. This song hits me to my heart 💓
@@paulascott7670Paula, you deserved better. Sometimes I wonder, why do romantics never find each other? I’m a romantic guy in my mid-20s who’s never even had a girlfriend. I see people get in relationships like they’re nothing, I see people get discarded like yesterday’s news, and here I stand alone. Sometimes it seems like Fate is cruel, but all we can do is carry on and hope for the best. I hope you are doing well in life in spite of everything.

47 years old and i am listening to this in my tesla. This song is forever. So is the memory's of you.
❤ 79 years old and have always loved this song.
I am 79. I keep playing this song over and over. It is "hypnotic." While I was thinking of writing this, I played it 3 more times. Music is all about love and this song is about "pure love."
had a wonderful boyfriend and who dedicated this song to me.

My hubby told me to " stop singing that song. People are gonna think you're crazy!"
I love the song and will not stop singing it!!!
One of John Lennon's all-time favourites - sleep tight, Rosie... ❤
John covered this song on a 1974 album and mentioned Rosie in the intro. When I interviewed Rosie on the telephone for a newspaper story in 2006, we talked about that. It meant a lot to her not only that John covered the song, but that he mentioned her! She was very nice.
@ksfhhnfan the Song is on the Gimme Some Truth Best Of CD Box
@@kelleydupuis1059 "Angel Baby" was not included on Lennon's 1975 album, "Rock 'n' Roll", a collection of 50s and 60s covers. It was included on the CD, "Menlove Ave", released in 1986. "Angel Baby" did appear on the CD reissue of "Rock 'n' Roll" in 2003.
1961 was a great year for those Oldies But Goodies, from East Side San Jose
Absolutely beautiful......those 4 simple chords that were the backbone of that 50s sound. Back then and still today...... timeless
In remembrance of Rosie of " Rosie and the Originals " who passed on 7weeks ago. This song from the half-Mexican Rosalie 'Rosie' Mendez Hamlin is considered the founding anthem of the low-riders of East Los Angeles. Isn't she beautiful?
I had no idea she was gone, how sad.
What A Doll Baby !!!
As beautiful as her music. Thanks for posting.
Yes she is. Wasn't aware of her death until reading your comment . Thanks for informing us. Love the song.
A great Mexican American idol. She represented Brown pride in the highly racist era of the 50's and 60's. Angel baby should be the Chicano anthem.

I hope I get my slow dance someday.
destiny your day will come..the rite guy will come along if he hasn't yet he will.be patient..
No drugs or phones
people were friendly. and when we danced it was sometimes slow and close with your girl..
A way better time to grow up I hate whats happening with young people now.
