That list is absolutely flawless. I would put Burzum’s Filosofem as #2 & Emperor #3 ! of course the AI just gathered aaaaaaaaall the debates / analysis on aaaaaaaall the forums & comment sections and just rewrite what had been said a gezillion times by fans so it’s quite undebatable that most of these riffs are LEGENDARY / COLD / MEMORABLE / MELODIC
Well, there is an argument to be made for riffs such as the opening riff on Spectral Wound's Frigid and Spellbound and Mgla's Exercises in Futility V and VI at least as far as influential modern Black Metal riffs are concerned.
In general I´m surprised that all of these riffs are quite "old". There isn´t room for 2020´s black metal for some reason. These songs are legendary units from my youth. Is this on purpose?
Of course! I simply asked ChatGPT 4 to list the 10 "greatest, most iconic and influential" riffs from [insert genre]. Once it gave me the list (pictured in the video) I asked it to deep dive and point out which riff exactly it considered to fit the bill. The rest was just a matter of compiling and editing. Hope that helps! 🤘
@johnnyisdead I didn't. Though I can't imagine any of the nanny parameters on the vanilla GPT4 would affect a riff compilation. It's an interesting thought, though. If you do it, be sure to let me know your findings! 🤘
