it's nice to see a true hands on approach to sound design using pedals. Sure plugins can do a lot that, but there is something very human about the imperfections and nuances from turning knobs and pressing buttons while reacting to the video sequence.
As great as it is to see the genius Max Cooper at work, I can't help but feel like this is a missed opportunity. A better quality (& more consistent) view of his screen would have given great insight into how he approaches building his sounds, and a bit of guidance on the structure of what he's showing would have helped a lot. For example a specific section for how he approaches creating his synth & percussion sounds with maybe a prepared example would have been amazing. Definitely still some useful ideas in here though!
Cool to see how he works. His approach seems so natural to him that it still leaves you with a rather unclear idea of how he achieves his results. You get some bits and pieces, but you don’t get a deep understanding of his audio processing.
The most amazing thing is that he got video working inside of Ableton without it crashing every second. I gave up after trying every single codec known to mankind.
You can see Max discuss his synths and pedals in this video - Max Cooper: "The way I work is more like a sculptor than a musician" - Studio tour and interview ua-cam.com/video/QelF7EpeNno/v-deo.html
Wow - that so fantastic to see this master at work
Max Cooper is a genius! Thanks for the video!

master at work
Did you find out what kinda audio interface he uses?!

here the audio project seems to weigh much more than a single video track. There's nothing strange
Did anyone catch the name of the lamellaphone plucking instrument Max uses?
"which im doing very badly" ... as rich beautiful distorted overtones swell around the room.
yeah
Does anyone know what pedals / boxes hes using?
There’s a video from a month ago on this channel where he goes through some of the pedals
Microcosm, giger counter….
