This is the third video in my rank up guide series which aims to provide tips and advice for every Rocket League rank in order to get you where you want to be - at the top (in Grand Champion and Supersonic Legend). This video is for slightly experienced gold players who have a solid understanding of the basic ideas and concepts of the game but still have a lot of room for improvement in their mechanics, recoveries and decision making. I offer guidance on which skills and abilities you should practice, and ways to continue working towards mastering them - there are lots of things you need to improve at this rank before moving up. By starting to implement and improve in the points discussed you will see yourself develop as a player and raise your own skill ceiling.

I can confidently say that 1v1ing is something I got down, this is my third day playing, and I was lucky enough to get plat 1 but I don’t think I actually really deserve it.

@@slyk I escaped gold about a month ago too, and now I'm practicing using your how to get out of platinum video! I'm stuck on Plat III Div IV-III because there's a lot of really skilled platinum/diamond players (air dribbles, flip resets, ceiling shots, double taps, musty flicks, etc.)

For anyone watching I am a plat and so are my friends and honestly just play the game and you’ll get out of gold. It just takes time to get better. I have been asking my friends in champ as well for tips on better car control in the air and they all said that over time you’ll get better and they were right. I was plat 1 in solos and before I new it I’m now plat 3 going into diamond. It never hurts to practice but if you find practicing not helpful don’t worry you’ll get better over time. You got this 😉
3 years later lol not talking about my self but tell that to the peeps hard stuck for years lol. Its a mindset thing. I've got about 5 days played so I'm quite a new player so far I've peaked at G3 D2

This smurfs just pin you down bro... Nothing you can do until you get some luck on your side.
That means your game sense it literally non existent and you should practice that instead of fancy stuff

As soon as I started air rolling on my aerials. Even slightly I was able to fight from silver 1 division 2. To gold 1 division 2. Or however it is worded. I also did some goalie drills. Can’t wait to get the top of my car dribbling down. I’ll get it there every once in awhile and it is slowly getting longer. Just made my first air dribble in a game.
I’m not really understanding the air roll aerials and when to use it, I know it’s been a while since you commented but could you break it down for me?

6:18 I do agree with this, but I would recommend turning on team chat only to not get frustrated when an opponent is toxic. If you don’t, it sometimes decreases your courage and can make you angry. If you turn it off, you can play to your best ability, and can see team chat in other 2’s and 3’s matches. I know it’s not a lot and most of you probably do it, but just a small tip to help you stay chilled out in 1’s
Team only chat is a great idea too. It’s something I did for a while a few years back. Definitely useful for certain players!

Good tips, but I’ve yet to see anyone under gold 3 who can dribble at all sadly, it’s worth practicing early on and it’s helped me a lot

Because I play with high level friends so often i’m totally used to that kind of play style and it’s way easier to predict what diamonds and plats are going to do, golds are just impossible to read. they’re so erratic and hit the ball in the most random directions and it makes me want to rip my hair out. I feel like if I could just get out of gold, I could shoot right through platinum and hit diamond, but I’ve been playing this game for two years now and I’m still stuck in the same rank.

a quick thing thats helped me get from gold to diamond was being patient. so if you are in 2s and you have a "bad teammate" and you are in a tricky situation where you are in goal and the teammate is shadow defending dont go for the ball, stay in net and if they mess up you can save the ball, if you are in this situation dont go for a 50/50 keep patient and let the opponent mess up leaving u a good clear

I’m in gold 3 and whenever I play against people that rank I feel like I have a chance but the second I get to plat, ppl are almost doing double touches and aerials I cant even do. It gets really hard and I’ve been stuck moving in between gold and plat for a couple of months now

My problem is simply being too stressed in a ranked match to be able to pull off the stuff that I can do in training or free play. I find simple relaxing and not taking the game seriously or listening to music whilst playing helps me concentrate better and actually perform a lot better than my rank would suggest (at least in terms of consistency)

Any tips for a freestyler gold who can win in gc duos but not get out of gold?
Im gold 3 div 4. I am very clearly better than the people im playing against, mechanically and shot placement wise at least. My issue is i keep making risking plays, over-Committing, and getting out of position. I've tried to fix it but i just dont know how. My 50/50's also suck. Any advice? My ground game is very strong. I can dribble really well and hit consistent flicks but i just cant win 50/50s
I just started playing 2 days ago and have commit about 5 hours into the game and got placed in plat, me and my duo played a few more games to see if we were ranked too high but kept winning, I still don’t feel like I can be as helpful as I should in plat though so I am here, thanks for the vid :)

At gold 3 some of these became irrelevent (as in I already mastered these tips) especially the decision making part and recovery part even if I mess up every once in a while, and some of the items listed for plat apply if you want to get out of gold 3 especially, namely power shots. I can also add drift turns since a shot you can take a lot of shots MUCH quicker and with less adjustments needed than if you were to turn around normally while keeping your car under control.

How can I assign one button to air roll in both directions on PS4?
I know I’m at least plat level I have great mechanics for a gold from defensive to fast aerials and off wall hits and usually the only one rotating so I get around 2 saved per game and 9 clears but I have to solo que and I’m stuck in gold three if I could get someone close to my level I think I would be plat 2
