For the rims not to slip: We used to put dots of heated tar, peeled off from the base of electric line poles. Makes every rim break work, sticks so much, it locks up sometimes, do not apply on front rim.
To me the value is more, but I'm a Profile fan boy.. besides, all the stock pieces can be returned, still looking new. Those are also high end upgrades that most would appreciate. It's a better bike all around. Side note, I got tired of the Elite hub sound especially when bombing around at night in my small town. That hub makes dogs bark inside houses. Plus there is extra drag when you want to coast. Simply flipping the pawl springs around quiets the hub quite a bit, but you still get full engagement and a, I feel, nicer sound. Plus less drag when coasting.
6:19 to stop your brakes squeaking I would use emery cloth on the rim where the brake blocks touch and go around the rim with it and file your brake pads were they touch the rim 👍🚲💨
I use a sacrificial Phillips 1 screwdriver to hammer in star-nuts (Phillips 2 for hollow bolt star-nuts), its much easier to keep it straight. You just need to make sure the front end of the handle clears the inside of the steerer tube and doesn't load the wings of the star-nut.
Phu always asking for free shit lol.. I absolutely love the Supreme chain! mine broke this past weekend but instead of snapping completely and killing me, the link on one side snapped but not the other so it gave me a heads up. Brought it home and replaced the snapped link, now I'm back on business. Not bad for a 2 yr old chain. So worth the extra cash
Headset cup removal tool for the cheap: 1" copper water pipe; hacksaw the slits like the Park Tool has; spread it out a bit; 1" copper cap on the striking end. Bingo! Couple of bucks versus a Park Tool or trip to the shop.
Keep the pads clean with rubbing alcohol and use soft compound pads. For the DIY press tool, I used to use an axle off an old rear MTB hub, some washers and the axle nuts..
Upgrade now. Save the parts and ride the bike. When is time for sale put it back to stock and offer the parts with the sale or sell them later. Bolt-ons can be changed back.
Personally I would have cut the forks so you didn't have to use all of those spacers. I figured with all the tools you have you would have a pair of tubing cutters🤷 besides that and the handlebars i think the upgrades were a huge improvement. The only thing on my SE thats stock is the frame and forks. 🤙🤙
I agree on the half link being one of the best BMX innovations. Old school chains were ticking time bombs. You never knew when that chain would go "plink" and send you over the bars. I stole the chain off my Honda 50 minibike, it was #40 chain I think. It would fit if you ran a 15 tooth in the rear. Mulched the teeth off sprockets though.
I have an open road freestyle BMX from the 80s and looks like a GT performer but it's not ! it's an "open road "does anybody know anything about this brand ???

I know this is gone and not make sense but I used to do this on my bike my T1 barcode with kool stop pads 2 different, compound black, and orange. I can’t remember what they were called the door they were black and orange, compound, and I’m a huge knife guy so I found different grits sandpaper work good on the pads depending on the compound. When I sharpen knives I have to worry about different grits, for different types of steel like my D2 steel & M90 steel so I tried it seem to work pretty well. Are used to do it every week and it seemed to work really good. I’ve tried them on all different pads and they seem to work really good.. on chrome rims. Are used to do it on a weekly basis but it does get a little bit expensive.
I have the 24 SE DC limited edition, 20 in XL made in America frame ans the first gen monster quad. My first looptail got stolen. I'd like to get the Perry Krammer PK cruiser. I think that would end my SE collection. I want to switch to Hutch because SE got too big. I want something that there isn't a lot of.
The old man with all the Gary Littlejohn bikes has now subscribed. Is the owner of that SE bike intending to sell the bike later on with the original parts? Is he perhaps trying to keep the parts in perfect condition to maintain the value of the bike? I'm trying to understand the reason for this build.
To be honest with you, I’ll keep the parts store it away for or when I ever sell it they can take the original parts. And like anything you wanna make your own and plus I love profile parts. 😎

Thanks Alf and Phu! I always used to pry that plastic jam ring to remove the forks, but that would damage the plastic piece. Now I see the right way!
