Cellular Dongle 2 Test -
Mini 4 Pro : • DJI 4G Cellular Dongle...
Air 3: • DJI 4G Cellular Dongle...
I essentially make sports video ( Mtb ), I own a mini 1 and bought a Neo combo rcn3 pack + googles n3 and Rc3 motion controller.
Of course I may buy the Flip because I think it will fly more faster in autonomous mode ( Lidar sensor) , more foldable in a rucksack , less noisy ( bigger rotors), and bigger battery aautonomy
I was on the fence as I do my videos w action cameras and didn’t want to spend a bunch for a casual drone.
I’ll be buying this.
From what you say Gavin this sounds about right, and it certainly is interesting with those "bicycle style wheels" lol
Thanks Gavin as ever. Do you think Mini 4 pro is still better than the flip? Also do a review of Flip when it arrives please. Thanks.
I can see using the Flip at weddings. It’s probably quieter than Avata 2, Neo and possibly the Mini series of drones.
Yes, I'm interested! I was owned several DJI drones before - Mini, Air 2s and FPV. My first purchase will be Avata 2 and after that maybe I will purchase the Flip if I can use it with Googles 3 and FPV controller 3.
Great video to the point, I think it’s worth ordering.
I think they should sell it similar to a "combo " but with NO controller . The reason for this is there's plenty of people out there who I've already have controller and this would bring the price down and better for the environment .
This would be hardly if you could do it with your 👍
Thanks ❤
I think DJI need to listen to comments like this as I don’t think they cater too well for people that already have kit, they sell the drone only but I agree there should be a drone only combo with batteries / case 👌
I absolutely agree which is why I left this comment . Hoping that somebody from DJI will see it . ❤❤
I'm buying to add to my fleet for real estate photos.
What will cinch the deal? Can it track/follow a dog?
If it's not compatible with the FPV gear not interested. The memory card is a big plus and who doesn't want more flight time?
The Neo does a satisfactory job for my purposes. Just enough flight time, just enough storage just enough power.
2. I am interested in it
1. I might buy it
3. Yes
👍 As usual a really good summation on what you know so far.
My problem is going to be compatibility with my existing dji controllers, goggles and motion controllers, I simply am running out of room🤣
Honestly it’s crazy how much tech you accumulate isn’t it! Maybe there will be a drone only option and use your existing gear? Thanks for watching :)
Yes i will be buying it. Currently have a mini 2 se that in selling in order to get ready for the flip. Lidiar from air 3s and AI rth with augmented reality is what has me locked into the dji flip. I also wanted the neo but neo has too little battery and camera. So knowing i will have the follow modes from neo, this would be amazing for us that wanted the neo. I also wanted an fpv drone like avata but avata is more expensive and does not have lidiar nor ai modes. If this flip is compatible with fpv + has normal mini 4 capabilities and neo capabolities then that would be a big yes for me😊
Seems a good all rounder eh! Seems you’re sold I hope you get one as close to launch as possible, I imagine it will be a big upgrade from the 2 SE!
i'm with him on that. Sold my air 2 in hopes for a mini 5 but this might be it.
@@freshandsaltyjohnny im glad. Is not the flip like a piña colada? The best mix of all the different technologies that dji has released. Some people dont get it and say !well you should get a mini, or a neo, or a 3airs but they dont get it that we are undecedided and thats the reason flip will exist
Can the flip get close up face shots like the neo can?
1.100% I buy it
2. I am interested in it
3. Yes
Simple enough answers! Thank you for watching and commenting :)
That was great to watch Gavin I hope to see you with this drone in the near future regards Dave👍
Thank you Dave! A lot of people just read out spec sheets and lists I try to put them into a little bit of perspective
I would be interested in the noise level considering the props are so much different.
Indeed I’m looking forward to finding that out myself
Same here! Especially since the Neo has quite a high-pitched whine...
If the noise level is low and the image quality as good as the Mini 4 PRO (and priced cheaper!), I will definitely be interested in buying the Flip.
my source says it's the same decibal level of the neo, with a slightly lower pitch
@@hellohogo Hope that lower pitch helps!
Yes I would buy, yes please review. Nice pre-view, many thanks.
I think Frank Wang must really hate me a lot. Every time I buy yet another one of his drones he comes out and announces a new piece of shiny bling to get me foaming at the proverbial chops. I only fairly recently chucked in my Air 3 and bought an Air 3S and now the Flip comes along. Having said that the Flip looks like a kids toy compared to my Air 3S so I think I will swerve this one. I do have the Dongle 2 inserted in my drone as quite frankly I think it positively silly to ever fly without it. Some You Tubers were screaming about how useless the dongle was when it was first released. On that basis I almost didn't buy one. After watching your review of it I took the plunge and frankly have never looked back and am still extremely grateful to you for the review.
PS Happy New Year 😊😊😊
Can you also do a comparison video between the Flip & The Pro Max?
Absolutely
@GAVINHR great, looking forward to it. I have the Pro Max already but I'm interested in seeing the two flying camera's face off. 😁
Yes, yes and yes!
I dont think this would be able to fly in cinematic mode. Image doing a power loop and the front arms just flip 😂 really worried about the over all strength in those arms.
love the neo tho.
Thamks for the info. I finally decided last night that I would buy a Neo and now I might wait for the Flip. Any idea when it will be released and at what price?
14th of january
@thomasdeveirman9644 Thanks Thomas
I think this is the drone everyone wanted in the first place, NOT the Neo. I think DJI was testing the waters with the Neo. This one I'm sure will be a lot like the Neo but much more powerful. But that's just a guess.
In my opinion the Neo was a product to just destroy the hover air X1 doing the same but at half the price, I suspect the Flip is to compete with the hover air pro max
I love the neo. I've used it for the follow modes and for FPV mode which is extremely fun. But to each their own I guess
@@GAVINHR think you're pretty much spot on here!
@@MrksKr yep! It’s priced accordingly from what I see also !
Exactly this 💯@@GAVINHR
I think you’re right, this one will much more capable than the Neo. I’m not really interested in selfie drones, especially at this price, so I’m probably getting this one. But never say never.
...It's premature, but since I don't care for obstacle avoidance, I don't really see the "upgrade" from my Mini2 or Mini3 (the which, with quieter props and better camera was a definite upgrade).... I'm not getting an itch for it. But I always enjoy your take on this stuff, Gavin. Carry On!
Do you think it will come with an FPV combo just like the Neo? It made me really interested. I am thinking of returning my Neo and getting this one.
Lidar , is it useful to make a point cloud for 3d scans?
Does anyone know if this works with any of the DJI fpv goggles?
Yes, yes and yes. I anticipate using it with goggles 3 from my Avata 2.
I am still on the fence when it comes to this drone. I am not a big fan of the mini drones, but I did buy the neo. I have a lot of " full size" drones such as the air 2, air 3, air 3S and mavic 3. I did get the avata 2 and love it, but I don't consider it a mini. I will wait for the reviews to start posting before I consider getting the flip. The size, as well as no obstacle avoidance worries me. If it becomes compatible with the goggles and is more of an FPV than maybe. It does seem like dji is throwing a lot of drones out into the market all of a sudden, which also makes me worried about quality over pushing drones out fast.
Have you heard anything about controller compatibility? I know it has been advertised with RC 2, but will it work with rc n3?
I fully expect it will be RCN3 compatible yes
Yes, I will buy it, yes, I am interested in it, and yes, looking forward to your review on this new drone.
Got the NEO for Christmas. Getting my iPhone next. Android cannot handle the software here in the states. Will the flip be just as user friendly for someone older like myself that is not that tech savvy? Yourself and other UA-cam drone channels are great for beginners like myself.
Hi and congrats on the Neo! I’m fully expecting the flip to be equally as easy to control and the fact it has some features like obstacle avoidance it should be even better!
@GAVINHR Thank you for answering me back, and so quickly. Your video was extremely informative and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Im not going to buy it until i see some honest reviews, not sponsored ones, so yeah, go ahead, gavin, I'll wait for your review, lol i do like the neo, though for the price and the n3 Googles my first time at fpv flying which i did love. Thanks for sharing, my friend. I hope your ok. I dont see much of you these days happy new year 😁👍👌 🇬🇧
Of course ! You know my reviews are always unbiased and honest, it’s a neat little option it has to be said ! Oh I know I’m sorry I’m really busy with work these days so have to be a bit more selective with my videos and would rather make 1 better video then posting for the sake of content and just repeating myself, hope you had a great Christmas and new year!
The DJI Flip will have a 3-axis gimbal! Tip from the pro
It looks like a 3 axis I completely agree but all the specs say it’s a 2, will find out in a week for certain
If available without the controller, then maybe (have an RC 2 for AIR 3s).
If it includes RID at less than 250g, (self-certifiable for class 1), even more interested.
nice summary, thank you!
Appreciate the comment :)
I was going to buy the Hoverair X1 Pro for its Omni Terrain feature, but if also the Flip will have it I would prefer a DJI product since I already have a Mini 4K.
I'm concerned about the prop design. Looks like the props go thru spindles above and below it. How fragile and bendable are they? Will they survive a crash??
Very cool. Wish we could get them in the usa 😢
You will be able to soon I imagine !
I will get it on 15 Jan 😊
nice one again mate cant help but feel those props look really flimsy
Love my Neo but I think I should have waited🤨.
GAVINHR thought you disappeared from the face of the earth. I haven't heard from you lately nice review.
I doubt that the crash and fall resistance will be as strong as the DJI Neo, it will take time to prove it after being on the market for 3-6 months.
How about dji mini 5??
Our club would like to record pickleball matches with a drone autonomously.
Do you recommend using the DJI NEO or flip?
If so, how would you set up the drone?
I hope they make a larger battery for the neo if that is even possible
Returning my new and got a dji 3 regular because that dam battery life and weak wind performance
it reminds me of the spark, i think its a replacement of the spark, same as neo was replacement of tello, im seeing a pattern
Definitely interested! Currently using Mini 2SE but missing some picture quality and vertical picture format as well as range. However, not ready to shell out £1k for a Mini 4pro with combo accessories.
I noticed n one of the screenshots that recommended price is 469 euro which brings is to £399 - sounds appealing to say the least!
Wonder if it gets vertical format - the 2D gimbal might not be able to do it?
Basically a DJI Cinewhoop
Good video Gavin 👍
As a drone addict, I think it’s safe to say I’ll be buying it 😂
Cheers,
Steve
Bet you can’t wait! Not long left now 🫡
@ Absolutely 👍😃😃
Yes please-Review it !..... I want. I held off buying the Mini 4 Pro and the Neo. This is just what I have been waiting for....Im wondering how much $$$$ the Fy more combo will run? Also, I read somewhere that one of DJI's Goggles now work with the Mini 3 Pro? Know anything about that ? Have you tried it?
Sadly Sir I don’t own any goggles as flying FPV isn’t something I’ve ever been a fan of, but yes this sits nicely between the two of those drones I think it could be a winner if it performs well!
@@GAVINHR Standing by !
i have to hoverair pro max so this is looks quite the same, the only thing i see as an upgrade is the longer battery ( at this time )
Plus the pro max is 8k, I guess you just know with the rc controller it will be a bit easier
Think I will stick with my mini 4 pro and neo...... I keep looking at the avata 2 though 😂
Yeah if you have the mini 4 pro I’m not sure this makes huge sense to buy but certainly those that have outgrown the Neo then yes 👍
I have the 4 Pro and Avata 2. Great pair to have. Especially as you can use the Goggles 3 with both drones.
I think we are all looking at this drone in the wrong way. DJI have primarily produced this drone for the American market where sub 250g drones can fly over people when equipped with prop guards. With the exception of the Neo none of the current mini series are under that weight when guards are fitted. The fact that the Flip improves upon the Neo specs in many ways will make it a big seller over there, in the UK though not so much.
On another note, in this video you state (2.05) that the Neo was the first DJI product to introduce innovative new ways to fly that had not been seen before in a DJI product. This is not correct, The (2017) Spark had the ability to fly with no controller using hand gestures, fly directly from a mobile device or fly with a proper remote just like the Neo. These features were all removed from later drones as no one bothered with them.
If it can shoot a 360 pano I'll get one.
I'm interested in a DJI FPV version 2, it has been almost 4 years lol
Funny, all these YT videos right before the release on 14th. We don't know anything about video quality (8/10 bit, bitrates, colormodes), noise level, crash resistance or if it can operate without RC like Neo (no 2nd button on all pics no far) or which track modes it'll get.
I doubt it will surpass Mini 3 camera, it will be louder than Mini4K and brake it's rotor joints very easily
You literally didn’t watch the video did you.
@@GAVINHRWell I did, so I felt the need to mention this 😅
@stefw0200 well all the specs were included :)
Sim eu vou comprar um!!!
Neo I could care less about, but bought one and it's a blast but at end of the day camera sucks on it and why would I be excited that much about it as a professional.....I'm not. They are just fun pieces of drone tech but at end of day if it can't capture well it's going to sit on the shelf. My Mini 4 Pro sits never being flown because of lame quality to higher end drones I own that's the reality. Inspire 3 would be far more exciting if more affordable so ideally a Mavic 4 Pro with swappable lenses or something Inspire 3ish on a smaller more affordable platform that would be 😄😄😄😄😄 Neo though for $200 is a blast! I'll buy this too I'm sure to play and see why not if you love all things drones.
Nobody is talking about the sudden loss control and the neo escaping up to 300mtrs in height. I have seen a few videos about this.
As detailed in the video, people are flying them over water and in situations it’s not designed to do unfortunately
@GAVINHR i wasn't referring to flying over water
@Michael.OJackson feel free to send some video links if you have any I’ll take a look as I’ve not seen any other than when people have flown it incorrectly I’d be interested to see them
The propeller like bicycle rim .year made 1902😂😂
yes maka a revieuw off it
Most of my fly time with my DJI Neo - the only drone I've ever owned or flown - has been over water. The idea that it can't do that is therefore both a surprise and controversial to me.
If It can use my Dongle 2 , then I will buy it and add to the collection 😅
It certainly looks that way!
Can it shoot Vertical photo video, by rotate the camera ????
From what I understand this is not possible it will probably do a crop like the Neo
I want to buy it but only if its compatuble with n3 goggles. Also hoping they sell it with jjust the drone and maybe extra batteries i already owm all the controllers so bundles are pointless
The big rotors look very fragile i don't think it would take a hit without breaking , glad its not the mini4 pro replacement
They do indeed, better get that care refresh just in case ! LiDAR will make it very unlikely to crash when flying forwards but beyond that it does look a bit vulnerable
pretty cool it looks like a wheel chair lmao
I think Drone Wilder will be able to shatter this drone.
I hope DJI keeps improving the Neo.
Ditto. Neo is amazing and if it had a more proper camera and global at that size would be epic and super capable.
If this has the same fpv compatibility and flight capabilities of the dji Neo, it's going to KILL
Interesting.
About fly time.... That time is not available for the pilot. Flying a Mini 3 pro and a Mavic 3 pro the drone goes into critical mode when some 6 minutes remain. Flying time minus 6 would be a more correct figure.
100%, even the plus battery on the mini 4 pro only gets about 36 mins but I’m just working on on advertised time, I suspect as you say 24/25 mins may be realistic
@@GAVINHR I often fly in a way that I bring the drone just above the home point and keep on recording as long as possible, even during the descent. Having the position precisly established helps a lot as side moving doesn't work when critical kicks in. Usually critical kicks in and 6 minutes remain.
So its worse then the Mini 3 but will cost more?
It will be better then the mini 3
@ how? It has a 2 axe gimbal instead of 3, can’t shoot horizontally, maybe has even a smaller camera sensor and no 360 degree tracking, it’s born to fail
There is no indication that this lidar performs anything beyond the "automatic breaking" being advertised. I supposed the only advantage is that it will do the same a night. Two bad that it can't do something akin to APAS by mapping. Oh well, what could have been.
Dji has really copied the hover air drones with the flip and the neo as pretty much an upgraded tello. The flip is basically the hover air pro max 😊
Honestly, they really have! You are right 100%, the hover air is so good but DJI just have the might to take them on
The name flip, I think feels 'fpv'ish
1)No, 2)Maybe, 3)Yes 🤣
The thing I am waiting to see is how noisy it is. If it sounds like a high pitch squeal like you get from an FPV drone I won't be buying it. But if it is quiet like the mini series that would be great.
I think that’s the golden question that most people are waiting to be answered, myself included
@@GAVINHR I think it will be quiet with only 2 larger blades .
No. Far too many "new" models too quickly coming from DJI. Its not giving the buying public time to catch their breath before yet another new model comes out. Frustrating as hell. I know they've always been innovating. But this is getting a bit daft.
I predict it will be known as the DJI Flop by the end of the year 🤣🤣 Looks horrible, hate the way it folds with the spoke looking prop guards.
com esses protetores sem possiblidade de retirar. o tempo de vôo em vento forte vai cair para 15 minutos. e pode levar o drone embora. 🤣🤣🤣
I have the Hoverair X1 Promax and I love it. However, when using for aerial footage (landscapes), battery life and range is limited.
Basically I dream about a drone that gives similar image quality and range of the Mini 4 Pro, when using a RC, for aerial video and photography + being able to carry the drone only (no RC) and use it alone or with my phone to get quick shots, basic tracking or short manual control. This is the best when doing outdoor sports or during family vacations.
So far, sounds like the Flip is a winner. I might have a Promax to sell soon. I really like it, but Flip might fit my needs better (if it can fly over water when using the phone app unlike the Neo).
If it can omniterrain like the pro max as I’m expecting I think it will be the perfect drone for you based on your comment, hopefully find out soon enough !
DJI Flip review video out now! ua-cam.com/video/VLjn6Qlg0mA/v-deo.html
Not a drone for me! Ain't it ugly!😅
Dji absolutely destroyed the commercial drone market making it so any idiot can fly these things. The majority of guys trying to make money with drones have absolutely no business trying to sell their shots! None of yall seem to understand basic framing and composition and have made drone footage nothing but a novelty at this point. I personally hope dji gets banned in the US.
I own mini 4 pro and neo. Abdolute not for me.
Piece of what ?
Kit
Haha yes kit
@@GAVINHRhad to listen twice hahha
Nice video. I own the Mini 4 Pro so I wont be buying it. The design of the flip looks to be weak on the hinges and arms, looks like it would be prone to breaking.
Yeah 100% I don’t see a huge benefit if you own the mini 4 pro already :)
IMO the mini 4 pro is for more drone enthusiasts.. this flip looks great but more like a flying camera for people who just need a flying camera. Like for my mom or sister for instance lol
@@chainbenwa2713 may I politely ask you - what else the drone is if not a good flying camera? I imagine you are not using it with infrared camera or for industrial surveys
Don't you guys think its funny that all of these drone don't have an onboard back up battery that will give an extra 5 or 10 mins of flight in case of main battery failure or just for that unforeseen emergency?
Interesting idea but these days DJI drones are VERY conservative when it comes to battery and often are back / returning to home well before actually needed
I think it's all but confirmed to exist at this point
ua-cam.com/video/WJp49wA8baI/v-deo.htmlsi=CmIGgIqUvhdzybTQ
Or another flop. It doesn't look very sturdy.
Be fine if we don’t crash it
@GAVINHR I have never owned a UAV I didn't crash once or twice.
The DJI Flip is going to become Flop!
This is like AI slop. but worse
looks awful...doesnt look like it will fly in wind well...2 axis gimbal...meh
I agree, specs say it should fly well though but time will tell how it performs
Too many words, you burned my ears off.
May I suggest a book? It seems videos may not be for you
If DJI have sorted their active track inability to properly follow mountain bike riders at decent speeds, it will be well game changing. If not, I might have to bite the bullet and buy a Hover Air Pro Max.
