I was told by an old Timer, that when he was young and at a round up at the Gov't Pasture they were sitting around the fire discussing the next days weather when this old timer spoke up, "there are only 2 kinds of people in this country who predict the weather, Damn fools and new comers, the rest of us know anything can happen"

Good one! I moved to Alberta 3 years ago and quickly learned to talk about the weather local, regional, then provincial. Then you move on to local events, followed by regional... after 45 minutes yes I'm falling asleep cause we dont get to discuss space aliens, time travel or other more news worthy events. Lol. Keep up the great content QD!

    Good morning!
I was listening to a radio forecast a few years ago.
The forecast for the day looked NOTHING like what was really going on outside.
The weatherman read the forecast...then paused and said:
“Well...that’s the official forecast folks. But if you happen to have a rooster in your yard that can predict the weather...I’d go with the rooster!”
That was the most honest weather forecast I’ve even heard!!
    Take care...God bless!

My one grandfather was an original homesteader and I remember him as an ancient old man shuffling down the hall to the bathroom to unload his Copenhagen and he would stop at the barometer and tap it 3 times and set it, then he unload the cope and reload and shuffle back, stopping by the barometer and tapping it 3 times and setting it again like the weather had changed in the last 2 minutes. He never went by it without checking it. For those old guys that was all they had and they were going to squeeze every bit of information they could from it. I have a barometer in my house and every now and then I like to stop and tap it 3 times and set it and remember Papa. Tip of the hat to those old buggers as they were tough as nails, no polar fleece or thinsulate for them.

Here's two old saying I found in one of my old farm magazine from the 1920's. First: when planting you should always plant three seeds in each hole. One seed for the bird, second seed to rot ,and the third seed to grow. Second: when is it time to plant in spring. The ground needs to be warm enough for the seed to start to grow in the ground. You can tell if it's warm enough by sitting on the work ground with your bare butt and if the ground is cold to your butt it's too early to plant but if the ground is warm to your butt it is time to start planting season. Me and my old boss on the farm we used to get a real kick out of this thinking about how many Old-Timers are out in there field with their trousers dropped sitting in their field see if it's warm enough to plant seed just imagine if the neighbour went by it will farmer out there sitting in he's field bare ass...lol I think you'd be getting the one finger salute and then we'll be one hell of a story for the neighbour for the rumour mill...lol

I thought I was behind the times with my flip phone. But the rotary phones, did you have to break into a museum to acquire them for this video? Love from a farmer in Ontario. Awesome work Quick... Love the Poppy

Everyone in the MIGHTY SASK knows the best predictor of the weather is the Stenen Weather Rock that hangs right to the left of the Coop which is the place you buy a case of Boh before you camp in Narrow Hills (and pluck leeches offa yer feet).

LOL! Here in Florida, our weather conversations usually consist of one-upping each other on who is sweating the most, or the chances of rain that day. And, during hurricane season, we're all amateur meteorologists!
