Def Leppard has my respect! "Photograph" showed me just how awesome they are!

- I'll be honest, when I analyzed "Pour Some Sugar On Me" by Def Leppard, a song I was somewhat familiar with, I didn't realize their story fully. This time, I was educated on Rick Allen's accident, and what the entire band did for him. That made this live performance of "Photograph" that much more moving!
Join professional opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff, as she listens to Def Leppard performing "Photograph" for the first time.

Pyromania is one of those rare albums where every song is a BANGER.
Also, this band is a model of not letting tragedy stop them from being successful. They fired a guitar player, drummer lost his arm and another guitar player passed away, but they keep going.
@@MS-ro9dm So you dont really know their story, ok, great you commented!!! troll somewhere else.
Easily their best album and one of the best rock albums ever.
@MS-ro9dm yes, you're right. Those traits aren't models of good behavior, BUT... to survive them, overcome them, and to adapt and succeed... that's what makes them a good example. Now you can cast your first stone.
So was Hysteria
@MS-ro9dm Yep, they were Prescription Drugs. Not illegal drugs.
People singing in the car had to bring their A game in the 80s.
Even if they only had a gentleman's C game once3 their voice broke.
you've gone straight to my heeeaaaaaaaadddddd 🎵🎵🎵 no way anybody not named joe elliott could carry that note that high for that long 😃
Seriously, bro. Elliot, Tate, Dio, Gramm, Perry, Meine, Johnson, Scholz, Walsh, Kimball, Hall, Rowland, Collins, Sumner...
Plus trying to sing over those Pioneer and Alpine systems.
@@vinsanity40k Have you met Mike Patton? 😆
I used to play lead guitar in an '80s glam rock cover band. When we'd do Def Leppard, our drummer would tuck one of his arms inside of his shirt in tribute to Rick. The crowd would go crazy.
that's fucking rad.
Any performances on UA-cam?
Rick mentioned bare footing on drum pedals insures no slippage when he drums and he can feel the vibrations from the drums better, which he used to get through drum sticks. Rick is amazing to come back from his accident. He created a new drum kit and a way of thinking in order to perform. Because of his new drum kit, he opened the door for other individuals who are in similar physical circumstances can now learn how to play drums too. For the rest of the band to support Rick and be patient is unheard of and they get my sincerest respect for their conduct. I saw Def Leppard a couple of months after when Rick was came back and was performing again before live audiences. They were awesome! And Rick was spectacular. They played everything! Been following them from their first album to date. I knew when I heard their first song that they were going to be very big!! This video is when I saw them back in 88-89.
@@StevenDavid-4q2 I also want to say I read back in the 80s that some of his drum sounds are also wired into the kick pedals being that his kit was built back electronically.so to barefoot drum as you said he could feel the vibrations better and also his feet work like his arm that he lost
@@PaulaDeitch That's correct that there might be a pedal or two that it goes to electronic sounds. Not sure how many or what sounds are electronically captured in a devise. It's not up to me to disclose Rick's secrets even though he has shared them on other videos. No matter how he does his drumming it is nevertheless incredibly impressive, because he is one out of a very large number (1/1million) to come up with another way to drum as effective and perfect his new drumming style in relatively short amount of time, is just simply miraculous. I think you'd agree with this assessment. This band is class through and through.
I saw them by before and after his accident. They were awesome.
@@StevenDavid-4q2 absolutely agree..top notch musicians all the way around
Elizabeth- Tea Time with Joe Elliott! He is generous with his time and loves to talk about singing and how he takes care of his voice.
Yes I think he would do that
Ive heard him do several long form interviews. And we know Elizabeth likes to do 90-120 minutes.
This definitely needs to happen!!
I’d love to see that!
This! He's a freakin encyclopedia of music knowledge.
13 year old me discover Def Leppard with this song back in 83. Been a fan ever since
My first exposure to them was Bringin’ on the Heartbreak. It’s still one of my all-time favorite Rock Songs.
This tour was legendary. I still meet people who have unique and personal stories of the concerts in their cities. Steve Clark really was the heart and soul of the band, and there's still a sense of loss for me when seeing or hearing him play. The Hysteria album is one that's in rare company having 7 out of 12 songs that were hit singles, including every song on side 1 of the LP. Thanks for digging into this one.
Agree 100%. He wrote most of their music, which Joe Elliott likes to downplay now. They have never had the success that they had with Steve, and there is still grief for me after all of this time. I love to think of what would have been if he was still alive and what he would have done with his music. I do know that he was interested in doing music scores. So much lost that awful day 💔 and he is still so loved.
I saw Def Leppard on the first tour after Rick's accident. They played the Monsters Of Rock show in Stockholm, Sweden, August 23rd, 1986. This was the third show after his recovery and learning the new way of drumming. The two first was August 8th in Ireland and August 16th in England. They had a replacement (stand-in) drummer ready to take over during the shows, but Rick played the entire show in Stockholm and even performed a drum solo that day - Magical.
I saw them 3 shows later in nurnberg Germany. Awesome show. Rick was great
Aug 16th Donington park for me - *_SOOOOOOOOO_* emotional for Rick, the band AND the audience. It's here on UA-cam.
Saw this Hysteria tour, with Tesla as the opener in Phoenix, just an amazing show. Needless to say, the crowd went nuts when Rick came out and also for his drum solo. Rick has helped turn his challenges with PTSD from the wreck into charitable works and helping others.
I saw this show too, when I was in HS, in CT.
Tacoma, WA one of the most EPIC shows ever.
What year was that tour?
I saw Def Leppard with Queensryche in the 80s but I forget the year. It was at the Spectrum in Philadelphia at the theater in the round.
This video looks like it's was filmed on a theater in the round as well. Not sure if it was this tour but with a different opening act.
I saw the Hysteria tour in Phoenix as well.
I remember Europe opening for them.
I saw the Hysteria tour in Orlando. Tesla opened too. My ears are still ringing :)_ One of the best concerts in my life.
Man Steve Clark’s improv outro solo gets me every time. He was truly amazing!!
I really missed the odd way Steve played and the sound it created on everything after Hysteria, it was as unique to the band as Joe's vocals. Viv and Phil are a more technically sound duo but they definitely lost something in the sound after Steve's death
Steve made Def Leppard's song and nothing got to that level afterwards. such an underrated talented musician
RIP Steve Clark
In an interview during the 80's, Joe Elliot said : "We don't sing flat, we yell sharp!" lol!
Given how heavily produced their albums were I remember being shocked the first time seeing/hearing them live and how close they sounded to the records. They were a band tailor-made for stadiums and their albums reflected that.
and somehow the great guitar solos on the record are improv'ed and improved live 🙂
And here in 2025 still selling out stadiums
Not anymore, his voice aged horribly if you listen to them live now. He has to sing everything in falsetto, he just has absolutely no top now.
lol I remember when people gave them crap for "being overly produced". In 2025 that argument is quaint since everything is autotuned to death now.
@@zachwalraven Some of their songs are on the high side. At 50 I can't hit high C anymore without falsetto. I'd rather they do it in a lower key with full voice but there's not much he can do about it at a certain age. Bruce Dickenson (Iron Maiden) has somehow managed to keep his voice and can out-sing people a third of his age.
With this enduring 80s kick you've been on for a while now, I feel I should once again throw the name Billy Idol out there.
That is great idea! I love Billy Idol!
White Wedding or Rebel Yell seems to be a good start.
Billy Idol is awesome live, his recent acoustic vergions of his hits are very impressive also
Billy Idol Mony Mony Live
Yes, Billy Idol! ❤❤
I remember a morning interview with a local TV station where the band looked rather exhausted from lack of sleep and was asked about their vocal production. Immediately, they hit four or five part vocal harmonies, in perfect tune and balance a cappella! Simply amazing singing…not to mention their instrumental prowess.
I was fortunate enough to see Def Leppard on this very tour, and it remains one of the BEST concerts I've ever been to in my life. Fantastic. Steve Clark RIP
Agreed, I saw this tour in 1988 in Hamilton Ontario, Queensryche was the opening act. I have seen them many times since but none have compared.
Agree 💯 I saw them December 19, 1987 in Greensboro, NC. I’m 65 years old now and have seen hundreds of concerts. This one- the Hysteria tour- was hands down the best concert I’ve ever seen. 🤘🏼🤘🏼❤️
Me too. I saw this one is Sacramento....with our very own hometown boys Tesla opening the show.
i remember seeing up front with another Lady in this video.
The same album as this one had "Foolin'" and that was the first song I remember grabbing my attention (as a kid when this came out) as a way to feel emotion from sound alone. It's still remarkable to me for blending synths, acoustic guitar and seemingly infinite choruses so well. I'm not the biggest Def Leppard fan, but this album and the next both set standards for music production, as well as sales.
It was "Umtah gleebin globbin gloubin" that got my attention.
Coin just rocks
This song, Foolin, and Bringin On The Heartbreak are probably the 3 Def Leppard songs that I have interest in. (Or occasionally Me & My Wine)
"Foolin'" has always been my favorite. Almost feels like a grunge predecessor in dynamics. Slow and low boil in the verses, then building thru the pre-chorus parts, and exploding in the chorus.
That hook is irresistible.
I’ve seen them 5 or 6 times and each time they never disappoint. This tour in 1988 was my first concert, I was 18. 30 years later I took my son to see them as his first concert at the age of 11. It came full circle because Tesla opened for them in 1988 when I saw them, and they were the opening band when I took my son.
Def Leppard was a big part of my youth and my life, as a teenager in the 80s this song meant a lot to me, I remember playing it at full volume in my car with my friends, a great time to be alive. Long live Def Leppard.
I am so thrilled you are doing the Live version. This entire concert showcases what a top tier live band Def Leppard were - and still are to this day.
I'm 55 now and they, along with Van Halen, were my favorite bands in High school. There was just something different about both of them. Leppard wasn't just "hard rock', their harmonies and melodic structure made them closer to "heavy pop' then heavy metal - which Joe Elliot has said was exactly what they were going for.
BTW, Joe Elliot is a great interview. The guy is a walking encyclopedia of 60's, 70's and 80's rock music.
@speed33169. I absolutely agree! I saw them in the 90s and 2008.killer live band!
I'm from Australia, just checked to see when it was Def Leppard toured here. Was shocked to see it was 37 years ago; damn we're getting old.
I wouldn't have gone to see them if my girlfriend at the time wasn't such a huge fan; I'm glad I did. It was a fantastic concert, and if it wasn't for
the fact Joe made a point of talking about Rick's accident before a huge drum solo, you'd never have known Rick had re-invented himself as a drummer.
While I'm sure the fans would have preferred Steve Clark be on the tour, me, as a huge Dio fan was having a blast finally getting to see Vivian Campbell live.
Great show, great memories, and ones I'd have missed if not for the woman in my life at the time.
53 here....turning 54 next month. We are kindred spirits.

Hi Elizabeth! Thank you for covering this banger of a song!
As a drummer, Rick has been a huge hero of mine since his accident. The kit was created 100% from the ground up, and if I remember correctly it was created by Simmons. Simmons was at the forefront of midi-drums and took on the challenge to get Rick back behind the drums.
There is a collection of pedals on the floor between the hi-hat and the kick drum, each pedal corresponding the snare, the rack toms and the floor toms. I honestly can’t remember if there was a pedal for cymbal crashes or not. It was a frustrating time for Rick, basically learning to play all over again. Initially, they had another drummer behind the stage playing along in case Rick messed up. One of the shows, I don’t remember which one but it was early in the first tour after Rick’s accident, the other drummer got severely delayed and they had to start the show. By the time the backup arrived, it was very apparent that Rick didn’t need him.
In the years since, the legend, respect, and admiration of Rick Allen has only grown.
It’s a great song
Man, did I play the shit out of this cassette back in the day. Me and the gang walking down the street, burning through "D" batteries like there's no tomorrow, jamming these songs through the boom box. I had gone through rolls and rolls of colored electrical tape decorating the radio to look like Eddie Van Halen's guitars... 1st the white and black, then yellow and black and finally the red, white and black.... lots of hours put in. The joys of rock and roll and being a teenager, no video games or telephones consuming our time... just the guys and looking at the girls with their big hair and Jordache's. 🤘
You were not alone! My friends and I used to walk and ride bikes for hours around our neighborhood playing Pyromania, High & Dry, 1984, Shout At The Devil, Out of the Cellar, Lick It Up... on a boom box. Such a great core memory of being a junior high kid in the early 80s.
Surely miss those days! Just rewatched "the last dragon" and "rad". The 80s were such a wild time. I mean all the hairspray destroyed the ozone 😂😂
Was a fan of their earlier material from High N Dry and Pyromania. They really gained my respect when the band kept Rick Allen in the band after his accident in December of 1984 in which Allen lost his left arm. Other songs to check out: Let it Go, Bringing on the Heartbreak, Too Late For Love, Foolin', Rock of Ages.
+1!!!
I feel like the electronic drum sounds helped with Hysteria's success.
Anything from Hysteria as that whole album is awesome. Love Bites and Hysteria are must do from that album.
@@jermhoosierfan Love Bites is the best song from that album as far as I'm concerned, but I can'T stand that album, as much as it is great, it is not the Def Leppard I grew up listening to but that album made them a huge band everywhere and it was also their downfall as they could never top that afterwards.
With that respect to Rick, I agree 💯.. But the music, for me , took a dive after the accident.. Phil Colin was given too much control and took the band in a different direction, that just doesn't do it for me as a listener .. Metallica did the same thing.. Loved the first couple albums.. then they went a whole different direction than what I was drawn to them by , and for .. I saw Def Leppard eary on , at what I can remember, at the Hollywood Poladium , then the Hysteria tour some years after in support of Rick .. but they lost me musically.. Great for them momentarily, changing their direction.. Not so good for me when they lost their edgeir sound and vibe that I was drawn to .
Bless you! Foolin’ is to me the quintessential Def Leppard song. I’m instantly transported back to 9th grade. Such great memories. I know where I was, whose car I was in and everyone there. Bittersweet
Saw these guys live a couple years ago. They still rocked extra hard. So glad I had the chance to see them live at least once in my life.
Much respect for the whole band for waiting and supporting Rick`s amazing comeback, very few if any would have done what they did.
Too late for love and Foolin are great songs. I was at work when u did this reaction and I stopped the car so I could rock out on this , one of my favorite bands
I hadn't listened to Def Leppard in a while now. This live performance gave me goosebumps.
As a kid of the 80's, I was a fan right away. I can tell you if you dive into Def Leppard history you will not only find a lot of success but a lot of heartbreak in this band. I find it amazing in 2025 they are still on tour and they look like they are still having fun. Ricks drum kit was not "altered" so much as it was created from the ground up. No one had ever did what Rick was trying to do and it took him about 4 years to teach himself to play drums again with two feet and one arm...There had never been a drum kit like Ricks before his.
The necessity of rocking out is the mother of invention.
Saw them in '96, very good live.
They are still amazing live too. Saw them just a few months ago. The stadium experience was not much different from this video. They sound just like the record and tight!
Photograph was the encore. That is why they are coming onto the stage without their shifts.
Dang that's a ballsy encore! What a group!
they did 4 encores... 4 that night. they played some songs more than once for the videos also.
@@AnthonyP73 they did 4 encores that night. no joke i was HERE on this NIGHT. Denver Co.
Does Phil even own a shirt? He’s still performing without one to this day.
I was at the gig when Rick Allen returned to Sheffield after his accident .That was a good night "we" the crowd went mental .
Im 50 years old, this song is one of those, taking me back to my teenage room, and youth years,it was played a lot yes, one of my favorite Def Leppard songs, maybe because of that memory idk, i did have a friend i did hang out with everyday, and this was surely hes favorite, so it was played.. alongside Metallica, Nirvana, Bob Marley, Guns´n´roses, among others..
I would proberly call Pyromania my favorite Def Leppard album, its surely not Hystria as many proberly would pick, even thats a amazing album to..
I have seen Def Leppard multiple times, including this tour. They are the best live band I've ever seen. What a show.
My personal favorite DL song is "Too Late for Love" but if you really want to analyze Joe Elliot's voice, "When Love & Hate Collide" is a must.
Two other good songs are "Die Hard the Hunter" and "Bringin' on the Heartbreak" from Pyromania that was released in 1983!!
Saw them just a couple of Summers ago on tour and they sound just as good as they did back in the 80's
This is one where you should definitely check out the studio version. Joe hits notes that are so unbelievably high.
I saw them in concert last summer and it was so good. Same energy, and they played all their hits. So much fun!
One of my absolute favorite bands!! I was a teen in the 80's and these guys were/are incredible! I've seen them in concert probably 10 times. Great choice.
I saw them about 25 years ago at a small festival. It was an absolutely memorable show.
This song was my gateway drug into rock. Played this song on my boombox over and over, and to this day is among my favorite songs of all time.
I saw Def Leppard on this tour in 1988 at the UTC Arena, Chattanooga, TN. The show was in the round and one of the best concerts I ever saw. They sounded as good live as they did on tape. Nobody opened for them. They played for 3 hours straight. One I'll never forget and I'm 59 now.
One if my all time favorite bands!! Keep digging, they have so many good songs! Try “Too Late For Love”
YESSSSS!!!!
This was such a good tour - saw them in May '88, right up against the barrier. It was during graduation week, and it was a PARTY
Class of ‘89!
To me, these guys were the best of the "hair" bands. And real stand-up blokes that they worked with Rick and together figured it out. That's loyalty and friendship. "Ohana means family, and family means nobody gets left behind, or forgotten."
Def Leppard is so much joy. You should do much more of these guys.
The backing vocals, not doing much in this song. But there are so many, it’s almost their signature.
Favorite Def Leppard song... Foolin'. Love that tune.
@ 20:15 Bless you! I wore out this album multiple times. First on vinyl, then cassette (x 3), then CD (x 2). Now it's digital and I never have to worry about it wearing out.
Def Leppard is one of the most under-rated bands in music. I rarely hear them on the radio anymore...
Bringin on the Heartache is a must!
I’ve seen Def Leppard live twice. One thing about them, because the drummer has one arm, his kicks are HEAVY! You can literally FEEL his drums from EVERYWHERE in the arena!!! He’s him.
A band with a bond like no other, they are great!
Wether you love their music or not, you can't deny their absolute killer live performance. They exude the fun and energy of rock and roll.
I saw DL for this tour in Houston, Tx. And I MUST say, it was one amazing concert EVER!!!!!! And to this day, I have been so grateful to have seen Steve Clark in concert!!
*_7:35_*
*_It’s strictly a “feel” thing. Most drummers play with shoes on, but some play with just socks or barefoot. I’ve always played with socks because I feel disconnected from my pedals with shoes on, and my feet stick to the pedals barefoot. Socks allow my foot to slide up and down the pedal without sticking, so it was the best choice for me._*
Same!
I agree it's a "feel" thing. As a long-time drummer, I've never liked playing barefoot or with just socks as I feel I hit harder with shoes. I know you can adjust the tension on the pedal(s) but I like them fairly stiff and with this you would need more effort if barefoot. But then again I play hard rock/punk. With Def Leppard, the bass drum parts are not labor intensive.
Can't get enough of Def Leppard! Such a classic 80s sound!
Finally!! I was just thinking you need to hear Photograph last night. So much better at showing Joe's talent than PSSOM
This makes me so happy I’m tearing up 😢🥺!
QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE
Thank you for analyzing a 2nd Def Leppard song. I’ve listened Photograph non-stop for the last 42 years. I have new things to listen for in the song now 😊.
Elizabeth-you are the most interesting content creator on YT.
YESSSSS MORE DEF LEPPARD LESSGOOOO
In the summer of 2024 I saw Def Leppard with foreigner light and cheap trick, and Def Leppard was absolutely 100% the main act! Their music is held up so well after so many years
Rock and metal vocalists have proven classical singers/teachers wrong because they've said that the voice can't sustain harsh vocals long term without damaging them, they've said this since forever and they were/are dead wrong.
Elizabeth has mentioned this a few times. Theres been a few studies in europe. This is why shes doing the in depth studies with The University of Utah.
Rick Allen is an icon - both for his drumming and for his resilience. I love reading the comments on any Def Leppard video and seeing that so many other people feel the same way.
+1 to the comments recommending Foolin’, would also highly recommend “Hysteria” and “Animal.”
Please, react to Sweet with songs like "Fox On The Run", "Ballroom Blitz" and "Love Is Like Oxygen" (6 minute album version). Brian Connelly has an awesome voice. Actually the whole band does.
There would be no Def Leppard without Sweet.
That last sentence is incredibly correct! I"m in with this suggestion!!
Sweet influenced all 80s hair metal bands
I second the motion for "Ballroom Blitz."
YES! - suggested Sweet a few times - please Elizabeth do Ballroom Blitz or Fox on the Run :)
When this song comes on, it's just filled with energy and positive vibes. It is one of those rare songs that never gets old. The whole album is just hit after hit. Great stuff.
Bringing on the heartbreak!!!!!!
I've heard a story about the guitar solo in the beginning of the song. Phil Collen was brought in as the new guitar player while they were making this album. The first day he came to work they were working on "Photograph". They set him up in a studio by himself to work on the song. After a couple of hours they brought him to the studio everyone was working in. The producer said "Let's Hear What You've Got". He also told the engineer to hit record. That very first take is the solo on the studio release and the one he plays in this performance.
Def Leppard suggestion Rock of ages
A game I play is when I play on random, is it rock of ages or pretty fly for a white guy?
Yep I concur. Next up for Def Leppard.
I saw this tour. It was stunning . The best live sound I have ever heard. It was better than the album tracks. I’ll never forget it.
Another great leppard song!! My BFF and I were obsessed with this band in 1988 when "Hysteria" was taking off in the us."Hysteria" turned me on to leppard as I was in junior high .I delved into their older stuff in the early 90s and liked it way better because it was way harder and edgier and I was getting way more into metal..metallica,megadeth,ect.after Hysteria I really didn't listen to them anymore because they became just to poppy and kind of boring to me.i wish that wasn't true but it is.looking forward to this review elizabeth! Rest in peace "Steamin Steve Clark" miss you.
I agree. High n Dry is my absolute favourite album of theirs, really much heavier. Miss Steve so much and the band will never be the same for me. Like AC/DC losing Bon Scott, I have had no interest in either band since those losses. Steve was the soul of this band and they have never had the success that they had before without him. He was just a special guitarist who never played for his ego, just the music.
@@karenglenn6707 I do think leppard lost their edge I wouldn't say because of the loss of Steve but because they finally broke in the u.s. because of the success of "Hysteria" which was a lighter, poppier metal and they stuck with that formula.i think Vivian Campbell is a good guitarist in his own right.his style and tone is very different from Steve's. There were a few songs I liked after "Hysteria" but not many and certainly not the whole album worth which always disappointed me.
I will see them live though!!
I feel the same way about metallica and megadeth.i haven't really liked a whole metallica album since the late 90s .liked a few songs, yes. Megadeths last album maybe 2 songs I liked.maybe iam just getting old!!???
That being said...I WILL ALWAYS go see them live!!
My favorite Def Leppard song!. I was heading home from work yesterday, and Photograph was on the radio.
I cranked up the volume, and sang along.
This is gonna be fun. And I'm going to suggest another one that will be both fun and amazing - Humble Pie's I Don't Need No Doctor - the Midnight special version with The Blackberries - EVERYONE sings - and Steve Marriot's vocals are an incredible treat.
YES... more Def Leppard please!!! :)
I saw this tour in the round, 1988. Good times. Great live show. Bonus that Queensrÿche was the opener.
Just the greatest lineup ever
I saw them in 88 on this tour in San Diego. They performed in the round and it was an amazing show. Everyone singing, smiling and dancing.
they're good their "Gods of War" song is a great Listen
This was my first ever concert def leppard in the round in your face so I know my stuff about this era of music
A few notes about this show. This song was the first encore - which is why they look so sweaty, etc.. The stage is in the center of the arena ("in the round"), so the band moves around and faces the crowd throughout the show. This show was state of the art modern at the time - the lazers and lighting, etc.. Def Leppard were on top of the world during this tour.
I’ve seen Def Leppard 3 times live. Including on the same tour this video is from. Always a great show and lots of fun. They never fail to give you your moneys worth.
From The Inside is a song about addiction from the perspective of the drugs and alcohol. Very powerful and thought provoking.
That whole album doesn't get the love it deserves
seen these guys twice in concert in their later years and STILL they are killing it !
Def leppard is one of my all time favorite bands ever , thank you !!! Please review Stryper , you have not yet , and Michael Sweet the the lead singer of Stryper literally has the voice of an angel !! Thank you ! Review any of these song ......Honestly , Always there for you , I believe in you , or calling on you ........ please thanks :)
Elizabeth, your analysis and breakdowns are always spot on! You rock!!
You gotta check out the band Cinderella you’re gonna love the singers voice
I would love to hear a reaction to Tom Kiefer…anything from the first record especially
Saw them about 5 years ago. They still put on a hell of a show.
Great tune. Great choice!
Please do Sacred Heart live by Dio.
Their BEST song! Love it. ❤
16:56 *He's singing, "...I don't need YOUR...photograph", when his volume goes louder. But, it being "arena rock" and live, and needing to be loud, AND sung with his British accent, we can kiss that "R" sound goodbye.* 😁🇬🇧
*btw, I made 2 versions of Marilyn tribute videos with this song. Been thinking about making a third.*
🤣
80s awesome times love Def Leppard saw them multiple times rocked out in my teens ❤ and still today😁
I don't mean to directly compare to losing an arm, but Iron Maiden's Nicko McBrain had a stroke and didn't miss a single show following it until he finally retired from live shows at the end of the last tour in Dec 2024
7:55 My cousin played barefoot, and I know two others who do as well. I personally played in Converse All-Stars because I HAAAAATE being barefoot for anything. Those were as close as I could get to barefoot shoes. It's all about being able to feel the pedals and articulate with your foot. Much like the sticks you use, the thing that comes between you and your instrument has a big impact on how you play. Fun fact: Neil Peart played in Capezio dance shoes.
Rick has been playing barefoot for as long as I can remember, even before his accident. The "Rock of Ages" video from the early 80's shows him barefoot. You can play with better control and feel the pedals better, so it can be an advantage, but sweat (slippage) and the risk of catching a toe in the springs, may deter some people. To each their own.
I love seeing concert videos from the 80s, when young people came to a show and were fully present for what was happening. No unnecessary tech, no cell phones, no social media to "post" to. They were all there at the show, for the show.
I love def leppard, my favourite tracks by them are
Wasted;;; bringing on the heartaches;;; lady strange ;;; another hit and run;;; mirror mirror;; photograph;; too late for love;;; foolin;;; rock of ages;;; hysteria;;; love bites;; pour some sugar on me;;;
I am so glad to be a kid in this time of music. So many great bands and music.
Looking forward to this reaction/analysis. I am a proud patreon for The Charismatic Voice, and have learned *REQUESTS for Elizabeth* to react to, are best made in the comments below the video. HINT request just one video. Reply to comments for video requests you agree with. Elizabeth reads the comments. I request Angelina Jordan, singing her latest original, “Bad Valentine”. ua-cam.com/video/vN3YzuX1kkY/v-deo.htmlsi=kXyyMAn3YiBZhTWc
This is a phenomenal original song by Angelina and Toby Gad. There are multiple versions including the more pop official music video version but my favorite is the jazzy Piano Diaries version-absolutely exquisite! It’s been a minute and the Angels would to live to see a reaction from you.
Please react to this fantastic song.
Yes, please Elizabeth, react to Bad Valentine, the Jazzy version. This song is so good and shows how much Angelina has control of her vocal ability and a mastery of storytelling that makes her second to none. One of the best singers in the world!
What a great request, Andy! It would be wonderful if Elizabeth would react to "Bad Valentine -Piano Diaries" ( jazzy version) by Angelina Jordan. What a special artist!
DEFINITELY react to Angelina’s “Jazz” version of “Bad Valentine”… especially with Valentine’s Day right around the corner. It will BLOW EVERYONE’S doors off! 🎶♥️♥️♥️👣
Def Leppard - masters of stadium rock! 👍🏻
I saw this tour about two weeks before this was filmed. It's still the best concert I have ever been to. The energy from the band took the roof off the arena.
Catch The Rainbow by Rainbow with Dio, 1977. Outstanding performance!
I saw Def Leppard twice on this Hysteria tour. Photograph was an encore and not the opening song. Such a great band. Thanks for the analysis.
Video 196 of requesting a return to Ne Obliviscaris.
