    I want to say a massive thank you to this channel for uploading this, at 28.53 my grandmother is the lady staring at the camera, it's been almost ten years since she died and this brought me to tears seeing her healthy again. Thank you so much for a chance to see my grandma again xxx

    Wow, I am so used to clucks interrupting and chattering and trying to show their knowledge, or lack of on the american AR. Quite refreshing to have people shut up and listen to an expert! I will now stop torturing myself and watch the british version, much more polite!

      You miss the reason people tune in even more than to see antiques appraised. It is to see the owner's reactions. Additionally, the chattering often reveals the history of the item. Many find the uninterrupted narrative by an appraiser to be a bit too preening. And, as is so dramatically demonstrated by the Tiffany revision at the very end, the assessments can be wildly off in that case by a factor of almost 10.

    These days the "brown furniture" antique market has tanked, its why you don't see much of antique large furniture on new antiques roadshow. Its sad how current generation finds old furniture creepy and don't want anything to do with it..but its cheaper, so that's a positive.

    I would have thought some body to the Accrington Pals , who suffered so much at the Somme, would have been in order

    I don't understand how the art nouveau movement did destroy tiffany's business. Can anyone elaborate please?

      I guess just like people from the Bauhaus saw Art Nouveau as old fashioned. Tastes and fashions change. Fortunes rise and fall.

      Yes but Art Nouveau was not put out of business by Bauhaus products

    25:40......"lf you put a Geiger counter near it, it will go mad because of the uranium in it but I mean, its not dangerous"........from the viewpoint of a totally naive...colonist, that seems to be quite the optimistic conclusion concerning potential radiation poisoning.

    Well, you learn early in the furniture game not to use the forbidden "s": As in 'Let's have a look into your drawer(s)'. Alright, you left-brained people, stop that giggling!

    Unfortunately, many so called"experts" can be rather brusque or even rude towards the pleban commoners,such as,yours truly..
    It must be very satisfying to consider ones self "a legend"in your own mind...😎😏😂

      Indeed. I was a fan of the UK version first, but that was decades ago. Returning to it here, that has been my dominant impression of several, but not all, of their appraisers. It perhaps is a vestige of the class system in the UK and deference shown to those with the trappings of title and the appointments they had.

    • @aesotope1592
      @aesotope1592 Рік тому +2

      The only snobbery exhibited here is from your comments. In the UK, people generally listen to experts in their respective fields, as opposed to North Americans, who think they know everything.
