Help me out here please: Is *"the Continent"* a reference to "the USA", "or the European geography, other than the *island of Britain?* I keep hearing this reference in the BBC Versions of "Antiques Roadshow" Appreciate the clarity info, Thank you, Beth Tennessee, USA 🇺🇸 🍀American Lineage of County Kerry
I keep writing Hugh, asking for the phone number of that gorgeous blonde in Victorian get-up, playing the piano in the opening segment, but, so far, no luck.
Ah, I believe that enchanting Victorian-blonde-musician was only a session-player for this opening credits-gig...(she seems a bit “stiff”, anyway, probably not a fun gal, all business most likely...LoL...)
These are way older than the 90s.just look at the clothes and hair. Also Kiddy's carpet industry was on the verge of extinction in the 90s. Also some of those buildings were long gone by the 90s.I disliked these early ones because everyone was So Posh and you never heard a local accent!
TIL that there is a difference between a clock and a timepiece and that is the exact sort of semantic pedantry that I live for

£30,000 - £40,000 for the plate is the equivalent to £75,000 - £85,000 today. For a plate!
The set of a hundred she has I thought they discussed how many she had still a lot either way.
the plate moment was literally jaw dropping

30:00 that was two different pieces that happened to nest in each other and so it was.
Although many Bowie knives were made in Sheffield in the 19th century as the expert says, many were also made in Solingen Germany.
