Just stunning Adam. I feel like as a series these images and the processing really told the story of the day. You had a desaturated start into b&w as the conditions worsened and finally ended with an amazing full color image that showed the beauty and peace the day finished off with. Such a great way to tell the story, thanks Adam.
Hi Justin. I really appreciate you paying such close attention to the work. You're exactly right and it pretty much matched my experience, feelings and enjoyment of the day. Thanks so much for your comment.
Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine. A memorable quote that suits you well Adam! No matter the conditions you truly amaze and inspire! 😉
Thanks Steve........If I could choose two ways in which people see my channel it would be informative and entertaining. Really appreciate your comment, means a lot.
Great vlog Adam, ending with a stunning timelapse. Excellent info-blast too - I learnt so much - especially how you explained the surface law. Many thanks. M
Terrible conditions but you did a very good job regardless. As challenging as it is, the most memorable and dramatic shots often come when you least expect them in uncomfortable conditions. Top work 👍
Greetings from the States, Adam. As usual, your vlog was as stunning as the landscape you’re in and very informative. I enjoy your informal approach to your presentations and your jovial nature. I feel like I’m hiking with a great friend with every session. Lastly, your eye for composition is fantastic. Great work, mate. Ed
Thanks for your great response Ed, thats exactly how I want the vlogs to feel and I certainly feel like everyone comes along with me on these excursions. It makes talking randomly into a camera in the middle of no where feel much less weird.
Good vlog, really enjoyed that and well done on getting out in those conditions. Have just spent my 1st visit visit to the Peak District, had some great weather (hot mostly) but did encounter a few showers but not as bad as my 1st visit to the lakes which was a total wash out :). Cracking images as always - my fave being the opening layered shot in the rain, mood was fab.
I love it too. It does take a bit more will power to get out though and there's always a chance you'll come away with nothing. When it comes good though the effort is fully rewarded.
It's good to get back to basics sometimes. I've been lost on my channel for a while now but I think my latest is a return to what it's about. Loved the image at the end. Well done for perceiving in the rain. Think I would have given up
Great video Adam. I could do with some of that 'bad' weather at the moment. We've had weeks of blue skies and some cloud and rain would make a nice change 😀
Lovely vibrant photos and another cool vlog Adam, mad English weather as usual plays its part to full effect. The monochrome shot of the Gritstone outcrop works well and I think there are lots of interesting shots available across the area using this subject matter, cheers for now, Del.
Am in the need to be inspired Adam and your first man to do it 😉 , yes peaks stunning landscaping with yourself and co makes me feels great knowing peaks isn't far from me to get out and shoot , just waiting for better times to get up out of bed meet the rising sun , cheers Adam 👌👌
Great vid Adam, I love a bit of adverse weather, my last vid was constant rain, but made for some tidy shots imho. The time lapse at the end of your vid was stunning.
Hi Adam, great video and your photos were amazing, I just wanting to know what sort of camera care you do when your when you get home with your gear? I know you gear is weather protected but what preventative measures do you take.
Great vlog and images Adam love the enthusiasm and info despite the weather . One thing nobody talks about when giving exit data is what focus and metering modes are used would this be worth covering . Nice to see you out n about. Good work
Hey Adam I really have to say I always look forward to your videos cause you are such a master of composition... besides providing great content you teach people how to find beauty. Keep rocking :)
Another awesome video. Really enjoyed this one. I wish I stay in a place whereby there is ‘nature’ like what’s in this video. Thanks for making this. Have a good day.
Great video as always mate. Always great to see someone I love following in areas I know well too. I was running past Kinder reservoir last week and was quite surprised by the new landscape of it. If you are further over towards Woodhead at any point before the rain returns, the reservoirs there have taken on different forms, Torside being massively different. It's pretty much formed itself a nice beach!
Thanks Peter. I am not massively familiar with the Peak District at all so all tips are fully welcome. Glad you enjoyed the video, appreciate your time.
great episode Adam, that final image really epitomises the enjoyment of being out there. Got a weekend away on the Dumfriesshire coast next weekend and just itching to be out there.
Thinking about unique photographs while walking the dog this morning. Is it possible? Does it matter? What photographs stand the test of time in your home? Each photo you take has a unique story behind it and surely that's more important than worrying about who has taken it before you and how much better their image is than yours. My photos are mediocre but I love being out there and snapping.
Is it possible? Yes, but increasingly difficult with the big vistas. Does it matter? As an amateur, no i dont think it does. As a pro? Possibly, if you can't find a new way of working. The story is definitely the most important part. If the story is right it will stand the test of time.
Awesome mate! I think I was up there on the same day you went (judging by your Instagram), did my own video and a wild camp. I'm really glad you also made the most of these awesome, dark and stormy clouds. Cheers Adam.
Tuesday 6pm mate. It was really interesting to see your take. I really liked your image of the sort of ashy looking area there on the reservoir, I was a bit taken aback at how empty it was! I couldn't figure out an image using it though, but yours was class, especially with the green hills at the top of the composition too! Thanks again mate for the inspiration, always been a big fan of yours.
Great video and some atmospheric conditions to shoot in. Maybe an idea for a future video could be what you do with your equipment after shooting in rain like that, getting your camera dry etc and cleaning. Is getting dew in the lenses a risk?
Yeah. When I get back I just make sure I get my gear out and leave it in the warm room to dry out. Water inside your lens is definitely a problem but shouldn't happen with a lens on unless you submerge it or leave a non sealed setup in the rain for too long. Even my non weather sealed 800d performs well in the rain.
I only raise it if I need the extra height for the composition which I did for that first shot. The shutter speed was high enough that I didn't need to worry about slight movements.
Loved that final image Adam. Such a variation of light and conditions. How had the X pro ball head been treating you? I’ve just been reading some horror stories about it lately. I own the same ball head and have never had any issues myself. Just curious. Cheers
Hi Diego. Appreciate you watching. The X-Pro ball head has been flawless for me so far. I use the version with the RC2 quick release also because it suits my needs better than the top lock version.
Another great video Adam with some great shots. My favourite was the one you took in the worst of the weather that looked like it was monochrome. I liked the layers and symmetry whilst still minimalistic. Surely the weather didn’t challenge the Ribblehead Viaduct for being the worst you’ve been caught in? Whenever I come home without an image, like you said you had done a couple of times lately, I try to convince myself it’s because my photography is improving and I won’t take a shot for the sake of. The word 'try' is the important word in the sentence.
You're right Mark on all fronts. Not every trip can be a success, even for the best of us. I'm glad you liked that image too, I think that was my favourite also although I am happy with how the set tells a story of the changeable day. The weather on this occasion was savage but brief. It was also reasonable warm air temperatures so was not as bad as a couple of previous outings.
Hi, I'm sure you get this question a lot but what would you recommend to someone who is just getting started with photography that has basic (even old) camera equipment, in my case a Canon PowerShot SX10 IS, in terms of how to get the best out of their equipment without having to invest in anything new for the time being? Is ir even worth it to try and photograph with it? Thanks in advance!
Great video Adam. I love how you show the journey, not just the destination. Just wondering, did you use an ND filter for the 40 sec exposure (ISO 100 @ f11)? All great images but I particularly love the final one. Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing it with us. :)
Thanks buddy. Really pleased you enjoyed the journey. I love capturing photographs via a full day out in nature. Always creates and interesting narrative for the video and in the pictures. Tabs again.

Hi Adam, how did you manage 40sec exposure without remote shutter? I think 30 seconds is a maximum, or?
6 років тому
Hi Adam, my fault. There is a bulb timer. I was not aware of this functionality since I'm still getting familiar with my C5D MIV. I had C60D before.
Recently, I was on a lobster boat in the Bay of Fundy in mist then fog. It soon became impossible to keep moisture off the camera lens and my glasses. In this case, nature won.
Of course a lens hood would help keep the rain off your lens in many cases, but sadly Canon are too stingy to include one with a lens purchase, they have to be bought separately! Whenever I watch your videos, Adam, I always wonder whether you'd be able to speak if your hands were tied down. Perhaps you are part Italian?
Yes John, my Grandmother was Italian. The L series of lenses from Canon do come with a lens hood attached. It's pretty deep with the 70-200mm too and I did actually have it on the lens in that shot. The rain was coming in horizontally though with the wind which i why I needed to stand in front of the camera and use my cap as an umbrella until the last moment.
I did have the lens hood on, you just couldn't see it in that shot. The rain was coming in almost horizontally towards the lens though which is why I had to also stand in front and use the cap as an umbrella.
That add gave me the shits before this video. Had to listen to the complete thing before this started. I had to walk away from the comp with the volume down.
Just stunning Adam. I feel like as a series these images and the processing really told the story of the day. You had a desaturated start into b&w as the conditions worsened and finally ended with an amazing full color image that showed the beauty and peace the day finished off with. I like your enthusiasm. Some of the crappiest weather conditions not only make for amazing imagery but also unforgettable memories.
That last shot is beautiful Adam....
Brilliant again happy times in the rain you can’t beat it
Thanks mate
Your videos make me feel like traveling the world and take photos. Keep up your work.
Hello Adam, you just demonstrated how to take an advantage of any weather condition (s) and make very nice images.
Great story ...
Your enthusiasm is infectious. Love it.
Just two words. Absolutely stunning
What a great day for you Adam. Another excellent video and beautiful images :-)
Really interesting! It's true conditions change and we have to work with what is available. Nice catch with the low reservoir.
Excellent video Adam. I have observed a number of times that after a rainy day there follows a cracking sunset
Every one gets better ...... I really like the way you keep things short, sharp, informative and entertaining ....
Well done on braving the bad weather, your final image was to say thank you for bearing out , it really sums it all up.
It definitely felt like that. Thanks Rory.
Terrible conditions but you did a very good job regardless. As challenging as it is, the most memorable and dramatic shots often come when you least expect them in uncomfortable conditions. Top work 👍
You're a great storyteller and inspiring to watch. So skilled! Thank you.
Absolutely stunning! And just 30 miles or so away from where I live! A brilliant video.
Thanks Ashley. Glad you enjoyed it.
Excellent vlog Adam, got to love the peak district. 👍 👏
I've been waiting for this kind of shooting condition from Adam'... Very informative as always.... 👌👍
Bravo AK. Bravo.
Lol. Thanks mate.
Great vlog Adam. Really appreciated you sticking out the weather and due to that captured some amazing images. Thanks for sharing.

Fabulous as usual my friend,,,, shot the best sunset 🌇 ever after seeing your finger over for ground video 📹, thanks Bob,
Nice one Adam the dark stormy clouds shot was superb
Very talented and professional pictures. Love your composition and Photoshop work. Thanks for your Instagram account.
Beautiful captures as always Adam! Thanks for sharing them with us.😎👍JP

what an insightful video!
me i even-though it is harder to get out, i love bad weather for landscape photography
I love it too. It does take a bit more will power to get out though and there's always a chance you'll come away with nothing. When it comes good though the effort is fully rewarded.

It easier coping with the bad weather when you're out with a mate.
First Man Photography that's true, great to motivate eachother. The summer we've had so far and you got hot by that rain! Lol
Cheers from Vancouver Island British Columbia Canada, LOVE your channel!! Keep it up!!
Great video Adam. I could do with some of that 'bad' weather at the moment. We've had weeks of blue skies and some cloud and rain would make a nice change 😀
Great composition at the top of Kinder Scout, although I would have preferred to see the final image in colour.
Great vlog Adam. Particularly enjoyed the time lapse.
Great video Adam, really enjoyed it, British weather! best in the world!!
Indeed. Great fun.
Another great vlog Adam and beautiful images. Four seasons in one day :)
Great vlog, entertaining, learnsome and briljant as so recognisable seeing you ending up that hill with briljant light...thumbs up!
Thanks Dave. .Very kind comment

This channel has helped me a lot iam even taking notes thank you so much
Hey Adam great to see you are in my stomping ground, I live about 2 miles from Hayfield! The Longdendale area is also stunning.

Amazing video with some amazing pictures. Just curious which backpack are you using to carry all of your gear?
how was the walk up, my knees are playing up after Ben Nevis is it a steep one, and how long does it take
My next place on the cards Adam, can’t wait, now I’ve seen you excellent work and video 😁👍 proper good solid video with some belting photography 👌
Hi Adam, great video and your photos were amazing, I just wanting to know what sort of camera care you do when your when you get home with your gear? I know you gear is weather protected but what preventative measures do you take.

Plenty of cracking areas within 20 minutes of where you were towards Kinder. Keep you snapping for a good while! Cheers pal
I liked your footnote about using your camera in the rain.... I just use mine ... never had a problem in the rain..
Nice video Adam. I think you got a super collection of shots in the various weather conditions.
Thanks Wayne. Appreciate it. I was really happy with the story they told of a single summer day.
great episode Adam, that final image really epitomises the enjoyment of being out there. Got a weekend away on the Dumfriesshire coast next weekend and just itching to be out there.
Nice. I need to explore that area. Not somewhere I know well. Any location tips?
I'm heading to the Portpatrick area as a colleague has recommended that area so will be my first time to check it out
Cool. Will be interested to hear your review of the area.
That’s my local backyard buddy. The conditions were totally normal .knder downfall was a special shot x
Thanks buddy.
4:12 just out in the rain! I can't stand it yet cannot look away! #drama

Great video! Btw. one of the rocks looks like a turtle (around 6:10)
Ha yeah. I thought that too.
Great videos Adam! Could you do a tutorial on how you get amazing time-lapse videos. thanks.
Hi. I've already got you covered there. Check this video out.....ua-cam.com/video/uzZwqoSEWTg/v-deo.html
Thanks Adam, keep up the great work.
Appreciate your time.

Having the centre post raised on the tripod is like having a monopod on top of the tripod. I avoid it as much as possible.
I only raise it if I need the extra height for the composition which I did for that first shot. The shutter speed was high enough that I didn't need to worry about slight movements.

:-(
I go 3 seconds in between.
Another great video Adam with some great shots. My favourite was the one you took in the worst of the weather that looked like it was monochrome. Are you not concerned about weathersealed equipment? My nikon d500 is also weathersealed but i dont know what they mean by it?
Did you see Thomas vid from last week in the thunderstorm?
Not yet mate no.
Do you suppose that you could spend a day photographing little things such as heather flowers, bugs?
Please?
I don't do much outdoor macro work to be honest. All my macro work is in a studio setting. I could definitely mix it into the vlogs though i think.
Recently, I was on a lobster boat in the Bay of Fundy in mist then fog. It soon became impossible to keep moisture off the camera lens and my glasses. In this case, nature won.
