    If it wasn't for shoes like the Hoka Bondi 7 , at 65 years old and running since 1979 , I would be "done" . Never needed the extra cushion and stability when I was younger , but definitely need it now or I suffer for it. Where younger runners are talking about PRs , race day , tempo runs , recovery runs , threshold runs and all that jazz, my goal is to make it 5 miles without cardiac arrhythmia , cardiac arrest and more common avoiding plantar fasciitis . How's that for a PR .

    I'm no runner. I'm a very tall, fat guy but I own the Clifton 8's for everyday walking and errands. Seriously the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. I don't know if these shoes are made for big people or not but I've always found so much comfort in Hoka and NB. Fantastic shoes

    I work retail and I wear the Gaviota 4. I have flat feet and don't wear insoles, so the stability of the Gaviota is very welcome for me because it is a stability shoe. If I were to wear arch-support insoles or custom orthotics I would definitely opt for the Bondi 8 (specifically the goblin-blue-colored one).

    • @milesbrown6948
      @milesbrown6948 2 роки тому

      Thanks for this comment Frederic. I have extremely flat feet and some Hoka models I have tried have too much arch support for me. My speedgoats have been life changing for hiking so I'm trying to figure out what the non-trail equivalent is.

    • @frederichauge9032
      @frederichauge9032 2 роки тому

      @@milesbrown6948 I would say the Clifton with some arch support insoles would work best if you have tried either of them already. Both the Clifton and the Speedgoat have neutral stability and a balanced cushion. I say arch support insoles because the midsole is uniform in density, there is no medial arch support to prevent overpronation.
      It almost surprises me that the Speedgoats worked for you considering it had neutral stability (meaning the entire midsole is the same). My best guess would simply be that since the speedgoats are meant for hiking/trail running, you're really only using them for softer trails and not concrete. Hiking trails are--in general--easier on your feet and I imagine that is also making a difference for you.
      But it's really important to take what I say with a grain of salt. Everyone's feet are different and I'm not an orthopedic doctor. I just sell shoes for a living, which only started recently.

For me, I try to use the Bondi as much as possible, when on pavement, in hopes of being able to run for all the years to come. For a walker (who wants to feel stable) with a really wide, rounder forefoot, narrow heel, painful neuromas, metatarsal problem - which Hoka (or another shoe, like the new NB Form coming out) would you recommend? I'm a neutral runner, female, who has to wear Men's shoes because they come in wider sizes (except the size I truly need is a 7.5, 4E because of a custom orthortic...except maybe due to low drop I might be able to eliminate and go down to 2E. Unfortunately, the Bondi starts at size 8). I used to wear the Brooks Ghost but the forefoot of the 13 turns into a flat tire by the end of the day (a new version is coming out in July. Have you reviewed it?). The front is designed perfectly for my foot shape (Altra not). Sadly the new version of the Glycerin only comes in 2E, which feels great, but is too narrow on the sides....Help.

    Which would be your favorite for a runner with collapsed arches.
    I own the Clifton 7’s currently and am training for a half marathon. Started getting pain in the plantar fascia once I started adding tempo runs in.

    I was late to the Hoka party, the Clifton 6 was my first and is easily my favourite running shoe of all time. I tried the Rincon on the promise of it being like the Clifton but lighter but not for me, still a good shoe though. Have recently got a pair of the new Rocket X, first impressions are really good but haven’t done any serious miles in them yet to be able to say what sort of runs I will use them for.

    I am an avid runner, and I’ve been wearing ASICS gel Nimbus and the gel cumulus for decades now. But in the last year, I’ve developed serious pain in the joint of my big toe. It makes it very uncomfortable to even walk let alone run. I believe it’s inflammation in the joint f the big toe from overuse aka Hallux Rigidus. Because I’m not gonna stay off my feet and I won’t stop running until I have to stop running, I am looking for a shoe that has a more rocker style that keeps the pressure off the toes. I read somewhere that the hookah Bond is a good shoe for that. I don’t know who sells them in my area, so I’m just going to order them online, but is this the best shoe that offers of more glider rocker style that alleviates pressure on the toes?

    I spend a lot of time on my feet competing playing pool. 8-10-13hr days sometimes. The 3 I had leaned towards were the Clifton Edge, The Mach 4 and Elevon 2. The Elevon 2 has the cleanest all black design, but design wise for the size of my feet I feel like the edge might be best. Any recommendations or suggestions of other brands you'd recommend for my needs? Hoka seems to be highly recommended in my community

    I wanna make a choice between the Rincon 3, Clifton 8, Mach 5 and maybe the Asics Noosa Tri 14.
    I usually participate in 21k events for racing but am mostly gonna use this shoe for training
    I average about 40-50k per week
    Long runs (around pace 5 and 1-1:30 in duration), Tempos (around pace 4 and 10-15km in distance) and intervals (around pace 3:30 and 6-10k in distance)
    Which shoe do you think will suit me best as a daily trainer in terms of comfort and durability?

      Probably gaviota or arahi. Both are stability models. Gaviota is max cushion like the bondi, arahi is medium cushion like the clifton. Stability shoes are good for those prone to injury, though not always the only option. The bondi and bondi x have the most cushion in the heel for heel strikers.

    I started with an early Clifton and switched to Rincon. Compared to Rincon, Clifton felt slow and clunky. Maybe I'll try the Rocket for racing. I am 5'11" about 152 pounds and just turned 75 years old. My 5 k time is around 25:00, about 9 and a half minutes slower than when I was 18 years old.
