      Michelle Leung what you can do is bring the twist braid a little further back instead of so close to the front of your face. So when you reach the bottom, instead of the braids being to the sides of your head, they will be more towards the back/nape of your neck.

    • @amanda.k.g.s._
      @amanda.k.g.s._ 5 років тому +69

      If your hair is too thin, what you could try is tying all your hair into a high or low ponytail, then twisting it as a whole, and twist it into a bun (kinda like she did in the video except this will the centred at the bottom or crown of your head), and then put an elastic around it. Leave it in overnight and voila! curls the next day! then just follow her steps after taking out her hair. This is what I've done before and it works, stays for at least 6-7 hours, and I have super thick hair. It works even better for my friends who have super thin hair, stays all day for them, so hopefully this'll work for you!! :)

      My hair is super thin, What I do that works for me is with damp hair I do 2 super tight french braids close to my scalp and sleep on it. Next morning take them out and it looks super voluminous and lasts all day. Gives it that beachy wavy look. It's my go to!

      Don't end it with a bun like she did. Especially if you sleep with it, there are high chances it'll get undone...
      Do a twist braid (VERY easy once you understand the basic mechanic: you turn your two stand of hair on their each towards the same direction (for example, right), and then you twist them together towards the opposite direction (left)). Then you tie them.
      After this you can left them as two braids, do a high bun or simply put them on your scalp and tie them at the top. Or whatever you want so they don't bother you as much~

    i was very skeptical about trying this at first but let me just say the results were amazing i'm in love with my hair. I agree with some of the people in the comments this will work out better when u haven't washed ur hair in a few days maybe like two and you don't have time to wash it or style it with irons then just do this super simple. Also for me it worked in just two hours if you want to leave it for 6 hours or more that's even better but 2 hours worked fine for me and i have thick straight hair :)

    • @littlemamaana2844
      @littlemamaana2844 10 років тому +6

      I have so many baby hairs I hate it, my hair is naturally wavy and frizzy. So what I do is use a de frizzing oil on the tips ( I have oily hair so I don't put it on my root) then I do the braid thing at night. If most of your baby hairs are in the front, like by the bangs area, I would just leave that section out of the braid and fix it in the morning. When I wake up I let my hair out and (I know this is kind of cheating but idk what else to do) once I let it out I use my straightener and try to tame the little baby hairs, i only grab what's sticking out tho and straighten it down. If they are 3 inches or longer I sorta wave them to match the rest of my hair. I hope this wasn't to confusing.... I might upload a hair tutorial on my channel soon, if you're still confused 🙈

    • @dassahclayton7304
      @dassahclayton7304 10 років тому +17

      Don't EVER use sulfates or silicones on wavy/curly hair! My hair is thick, wavy, frizzy with a lot of baby hairs. Ever since I stopped using them, my hair is in much better shape. Have you ever looked at a photo of yourself as a kid and wondered why your hair is way more frizzy and thin? It's because of all the shit the media advertizes to us to make it 'look' healthy. You should buy a wood brush with wood bristles, it works really great on frizzy hair because it's gentle, it wont break your hair like other brushes, it spreads your natural oils to smooth your hair, and it doesn't create static that makes your hair frizzy!

    • @instagamrr
      @instagamrr 10 років тому +1

      dassah clayton I have to agree with this - I got a keratin treatment (well actually it's similar - thermafuse 450) and as part of that treatment you can't use sulfates or silicones or it will make the treatment wash out of your hair faster. Two years later, I still don't use them, and my hair hardly frizzes anymore! I'm left with regular curls (you can see on my [non beauty] channel if you're curious). Just thought I'd share! However I never use a brush of any sort unless I've straightened my hair - I use a wide-toothed comb.

    • @mysticmoonshyne
      @mysticmoonshyne 9 років тому +1

      Be careful when you brush your hair. Really take your time. Treat it as if you are brushing hair extensions and don't want any hair to fall out. Usually baby hairs and frizz is from brushing your hair too roughly. Also use a hair serum, I use kerastase by L'Oréal (expensive but lasts foreverrrrrrrr, still on the same bottle I got last year.) I also use evercreme shampoo and conditioner by L'Oréal (at Walmart) and it's hands down the best I've ever used. Makes my hair shiny and silky but not greasy. I used to have frizzy hair before I started using this. So yeah :)

I dampened my hair a bit and twist braided it until I reached the end of my ear. I didn't do the bun because my hair isn't that long so instead, I dutch braided it. I did this last night and now my hair is so wavy. However, my ends are straight. But since my hair is so thick, you can't really see the straight ends so yea... You should try it!

  • @badasspunkjazz8209
    @badasspunkjazz8209 8 років тому +68

    I tried to do the hairstyle yesterday night, but I think my hair was too wet, or maybe I twisted too hard, because my hair turned out to be way too curly in the morning. So instead of having my hair down, I had it in a bun, and actually the bun turned out really nice, because of the the volyme my curly hair created. Despite that, I want to test the "real" hairstyle tomorrow again, so I can try to make it right this time.

      So I tried again, and this time it actually worked! I'm so pleased with how it looks. However this time I kept my hair dry and I also loosened up my hairstyle a bit before I went to sleep, so that my my less thick and shoulder long hair would look just enough curly. I'm really greatful that I found this video, because it contains really good content!

    You're so lucky that this is so easy and effective for you- I have the same length hair, but blonde (so it isn't naturally thick). If I try to curl my hair overnight, when I take it out the next day my hair will be poker straight within ten minutes to half an hour. :( The only time I ever got curls to stay in is when I dressed in burlesque theme for a birthday do and curled my hair really tightly with a curling wand and used half a can of hairspray- and it stayed curly all night. Aside from that the only products I ever use on my hair is shampoo and conditioner and the only heating appliance is a hairdryer. WISH I had naturally curly hair, or that it was thick. You're beautiful, btw. :)

      +Teresa Fong Well this definitely worked for me. I learned from watching a bunch of black youtube gurus do it because I have thick afro textured hair and apparently this is a technique that black girls use all the time to get defined curly afros...except they call it flat twists and the bun is actually called a bantu knot. This is probably where she got her technique from.

    My first try was amazing!!! The curls are beautiful and bouncy I've only had them out for a couple of hours but they aren't straiting out I'm probably gonna wash my hair dry it till damp then put it in the buns then next day put hairspray so they stay in.
    Flipping your hair really does work it losens the curls to make them lose and beautiful I give this and A+ I loved it totally works!!😊

    when ever i washed my hair i used to do two braid to get waves but i noticed that my hair fell out so much. Even with twists. This is because the hair is very fragile when it is wet and it is not recommended to do braids or twists on the hair when it is wet because it will break the hair and you will experience hair loss. I experienced that.

      ineyda leiva the trick is to blowdry not fully leaving them a bit damp then braid them for the night. I avoid doing it because I CANNOT not brush it next day (it's OCD lol) and end up like a frizzy drunk sheep! Hmm maybe I should buy one of those huge teeth comb to avoid using the brush.

      I don't see how that more of a pain in the ass than straight hair...
      All hair is annoying depending on what you want to do with them imo.
      If you want to do beautiful straight braids, straight hair is bae. But if you want a natural-looking messy ponytail or bun, then straight hair is a curse.
      Or you also have a lot of people with straight soft hair complaining that they can't even tie their hair because nothing sticks.

    How do you get so much volume? I have naturally curly hair and you would think I have volume naturally but I dont :P It gets kinda flat and I want to have bigger, crazier hair. So how do you do it? :o is it the hair cut or the products errr... ?

    • @MissingAshley1046

      After your shower when it's towel dried/damp flip your head upside down and brush it that way. Then flip it back up normal and start Doing this. This should leave your hair with volume. Also the way she hairsprayed her hair added volume. Side then the other side :)

    • @TheJSYN

      My hair is like yours! Our process takes a little bit longer, since we can't towel dry. It is best to wash your hair up in the day time and to do these twists/buns. I am from the South so we get triple digit weather and I just run my errands wearing the twist (which get tons of compliments) and I sleep on it and then my hair is usually dry by the next morning when I wake up. My mom has been doing this to my hair since I grew hair and it always takes min. 24 hours to dry, because it is so thick and curly (I actually have of three natural textures in my hair, straight, wavy, and curly). I hope this helps. (If you don't live where it gets hot, it my take your hair longer to dry.) It also helps if you have tight curls near the base of your head to lightly brush or finger-comb them out, because the springy-ness of our curls is what gives us mega-volume (they go out from our head instead of clinging to it like straight hair; it's just God's natural way of giving us a root lift).
