Yah I love them for tacos and crispy, air fried cooking. Would rather steer towards like Sheephead, Yellowtail and Dorado for just eating regular though.
Been a while since I was on a boat for sure. Been going on as many as I can go on now. Trying out all new boats and landings to see what they are about. Fun to explore and continue the learning.
Had that feeling the last time I went also. Think they are trying to be funny at times but some times you are just trying to learn or figure something out and it annoys...
Yeah they got this asshole sarcastic tone and seem miserable like they hungover and dont wanna be there or help I went on it and didn't wanna let is the people use the live bait gave us so old ass cut bait squid I wont go back 2nd boat I've been and recommend you The Pursuit I went on it those dues really help you out and dont talk you with sarcasm or attitude. @@fishingbanditsilva8257 always depends on what boat and especially if you keep making the same mistakes, if you go on the same boat everytime and get to know them they'll actually give u the best bait so you catch jackpot
Great video and tips. Try doing a full day out of 22nd street landing they have awesome boats and crew and they always put you on some good fish. I’ve always done pretty good on the Pursuit.
Shoot, sorry I just saw this. Right now is mostly all rockfish fishing at 300' and 150'. I would bring a 20 and 30 setup so maybe like 15-30paired with a Penn Fathom 15 or Lexa 400. For a 30 setup, something like the Penn Fathom 20narrow and a 25-50 rated rod maybe? I would bring 25 lb and 40 lbs mono pre-tied with dropper loops using 1/0, 2/0 hooks. 6,8,10,12 oz torpedo weights and depending on the length of time maybe 16oz or even 24oz if they are fishing at 600'. Sunblock, cash for tips, I chew ginger chews to help with seasickness and pliers? Good luck! Let me know how you did
Hi there! Saw a few of your videos. My first ever fishing float is arriving this week, I also do a lot of jetty/surf/pier fishing. I'll get out with my co to those charter boats about once a month. Maybe we could meet up and show each other the ropes some time!
Next time go on groupon and buy a ticket for the enterprise for the same price. Its outta the same landing and they are going to catalina. Unless time is a factor the 1/2 days are fun.
Very enjoyable. Brings back memories. I used to go back in the 80s, but I got tired of getting tangled up with the other anglers. Weekends, the only time a working man could usually go, were packed. The tangles were brutal but we did catch some big bonito, barries, and yellowtail.
@@FisherNewb dude keep it simple don't overthink things. Remember everything eats live bait, and to do that all you need is a hook. 65% of the time your fishing live bait anyways unless the fish get up on the surface. I dont fish a crazy amount but I've gone out about 7 times on the Enterprise this year. I didn't get to fish the early season at Catalina but all July and August it was very scratchy fishing and lures barely got bit. Do not spend a ton of money on random lures. The only lures I saw calicos bite this year were 1oz hook up baits and a daiwa sp minnow. This whole summer all I needed was 20lb flouro and a 1/0 hooks. I brought a handful of jigs but they didn't really want them. Last tip FISHING IS ALL SKILL if your ever are on the Enterprise talk to the cook his name's Cody and there's a kid named Johnny who fishes on the enterprise. Both Cody and Johnny are really skilled anglers. I say fishing is all skill because the times I went out we caught only 10 yellowtail, and those 10 fish were always caught by only three people. The cook Cody would catch 3 of those fish and Johnny would catch another of those three....last tip Wich is the most important. This is what I've seen and noticed calico bass like a nose hooked bait and yellowtail like. Butt hooked bait. When you butt hook a bait it swims alot faster and it will swim away from you. If you learn to butt hook a sardine well you can be the hot stick on the boat.
@@FisherNewb For sculpin all you need is a 5 inch white fluke on a 1/2 ounce Lead head with an 8 ounce sinker. If you buy an assortment of lures for sculpin your wasting your money. Sculpin are literally the dumbest fish in the ocean and there really isn't a trick to catching them, don't listen to Dan hernandez, if you ask sportboats what they think about him they'll tell you that he's kinda a shiester there's nothing special about his bucktails.
love sculpin!!

Great job -- sculpin are the best tasting fish we have locally, in my opinion.
They are really tasty! I made tacos out of them and they are great!
Why so long? Can't wait to see the smile on your face 🤠

Nice vid, plenty of action, sculpin is one of my favorite eating S/W fish! Tuna Vic
Is this THE Tuna Vic from the Fishing Network??! If so, I heard from Ornery Bob
Nice day on the water along with a great catch.
Thanks it was really a great time
I can't go on these types of boats cause the attitude the deck hands have I would get kicked off right away cause respect gos a long way

Yah? Gonna have to try it now. I'm way addicted at this point lol
Same boat big hammer baits green and bright orange crushed itt all day ,gladd you had funn brother im glad to be your 301 sub 👌 tight lines💪
Hey thanks! I need to try it, I think I actually have that color
Nice video.
I like buying a small net that will fit in the bait well.
It makes it easy to catch live bait without crushing them.
See ya out there!
Yah! I hope so. Was crazy fun
Looks like fun! Where’d you get the Titan Lures? Size?
I ordered it online directly from them at titanlures.com It is the paddle tail grub. I still think it is crazy effective on those 1/2 day boats.
I would try the grub without the lead head, just a hook (2) on the dropper loop
I need to try that next time
I’m going this Friday charter boat fishing. Any recommendations on lures, line lb, and anything else? Thanks

Time is always a factor but I'm so curious about catching other fish now, who knows
Put some good insoles in your boots. Makes a big difference
Yah my boots were really uncomfortable at the end. Thanks

I want to learn more about it but yah those tangles are nasty and frustrating.
Check out my post (today) on FTF, please...
Shoot, what did I miss. Let me go check it out
Sorry man, did you message me or something? I don't see anything there for me
I work on that boat and the enterprise boat
You like it? I've been on it twice now. The second time the people were not so friendly so did everything myself
I’m just a pinhead a pinhead is a kid that works on the boats. I usually work when there is different people than those people
@@chopper875 Very cool. Any tips for next time? Should be going again in Sept

That was the deckhand but I do the same. I am a Newb / rookie and learning about all of this
