What we see in store is that the supertrainer category is growing. I think in a couple years these kinds of shoes will be pretty much the standard.

I'm 100% with you. The supertrainer of today is perhaps the daily trainer of tomorrow.

    100% take a comparison with the Boston 12. 👍🏻

It's a really cool model, but I'd go with the "standard" Adistar 3 and its more traditional take. I honestly wouldn't pay more for a plate, a bit of super foam and Continental rubber just to cruise around or go long. The Adiwear carbon rubber compound and the new Repetitor 2.0 foam are capable of doing the job well.

I don't know what the designers were thinking. The market ditched the Ultraboost for its weight and the high price tag. And BYD copied that failed formula. It's too easy to pick a better and cheaper shoe over this one.

I bought it yesterday in a store without reading anything about it before. I was looking for a shoe for long runs, tried some shoes and left with the BYD.
    I can/will also compare it to a Boston 12 I own.
Some seem to recommend the Boston 12 instead of the BYD. I cannot agree. They feel totally different. I don't like to run the Boston 12 beyond 20 km, it (Boston) is also much worse on the achilles tendon imo. The "plate" in the BYD cannot be compared to the rods. The plate works so, so much better for me, especially in combination with a lot of cushion. It is much less difficult to hit the plate for bounce compared to the Boston's rods. Keep in mind I talk about paces I run on long runs (about 4:30-5:00/km). I find it hard to get any bounce out of the Boston with that pace. But at the same time I cannot run the Boston much faster, as the rods become more and more useless with all that cushion (for me!) and just start to feel unstable. Funny enough a Noosa Tri 15 can push me much better than those rods.
You can totally run the BYD even slower and enjoy a nice cushioned landing. The plate seems to have at least some bounce in the back, too. I do also feel fine to run 4:00-4:30 in them, they don't really try to pull me back if that makes any sense.
So... I like them. I don't care about 50-80g more on my feet going that pace and distance at all.
Perhaps it's also a good shoe for those currently running a Nimbus and trying to go faster or improve their running style. The shoe forgives a lot.

There is no full plate in this shoe, it's just a ring around the shoe that stabilizes the foam. See graphics showing the construction of the shoe. I sent my pair back

@@Owski87thanks for the input! That’s interesting.
I did run a few km now through the woods, on asphalt, slow, fast, long, short…
What I really want to add to my previous post: the shoe laces as well as the advertised Continental sole are crap as always. Never had a more slippery shoe on wet asphalt than this one. And I talk especially about the rubber in the front. My Noosa 15 has more grip than this one. Crazy.
I never had good laces with an Adidas shoe, so I was not that disappointed.
And, well, I found the shoe to have more pop when I slightly over-stride. I don’t like it.
I still like the shoe and still recommend it for Nimbus/Kayano runners for the mentioned reasons. But it’s much, much too expensive with 190 Euro. Everything is just slightly off, and I wouldn’t expect this for this price.

Thank you for the code, i'v bought them on top4running! I was looking for a very cushioned shoe for long slow runs, I think it's this one. I have the invincible for now but I don't like the feeling of zoomx (feeling like running on layers of paper, hate it) whereas i love the feeling of lightstrike and lighstrike pro of adios 8 and adios pro 3.

I bought this in women's, and it fits well. I would have chosen the Boston 12 due to its price, but the Boston 12 is too wide for my feet. The Adistar BYD, however, fits perfectly.

Could these shoes work better for long runs than the Supernova Rise? Does this plate help more/less than the rods of the Boston 12?

Maybe for you but for me as a forefoot striker the fiberglass energy rods flex in the toes where a plate doesn't as much. This makes the Boston 12 feel less rigid and gives you toe spring as you push off making it very comfortable at just about any pace.

Can you compare this one with Supernova Prima? There seems to be some overlap in intended use case. I wish they got rid of Repetitor+ carrier. It basically dulls the ride and with plate in place they didn't really need more stabilizing elements.
