I was a Vet Tech for years and have continued “in the field” with helping out many friends with their animals. One of the Vets I worked for is an Exotic Vet and even THAT Vet wouldn’t have been equipped to do this. People don’t realize that even here in south Florida, many Vets have no idea what to do with reptiles. Birds, rabbits, yeah…those are considered exotic. What Kevin did in this video was done extremely well and will give this gorgeous animal the absolute best chance of a full recovery. So, anyone who doesn’t have experience shouldn’t have an opinion.

Kevin used a strategic and sensible method to remove her eggs. The alternative would have been anestitising her and cutting which she may not have survived. She is such a beautiful snake and very sweet as well. May she have an easy and fast recovery.
Oh man and it's so dangerous to cut a snake because of the way their bodies work. The incision space getting raked across the ground, the cold blooded system having a harder time combatting infection. Beyond that Kevin said she was already struggling to combat infection which was the source of the green goo.
Yeah, minimally invasive surgeries are absolutely vital in species that do not have good anesthetic options, but also are something to strive for in every case possible. Vets do similar tactics using ultrasound to help guide needles for all kinds of ailments and sampling in mammals, and human doctors do similar with endoscopes for treating humans. I've actually seen variants on this done with birds as well. Kevin has a lot of videos on this technique, but this case is by far the most extreme one he has filmed and really showcased a lot of the different situations that show up and how to handle each.

@andrewbloom7694 I’m guessing I’m missing the part anyone mentioned cutting dried poop from a dog’s butt? Exactly 💯 Ppl can hate and whine all they want to, but would they have been able to do the same thing to save their snakes life? Nope! They would've waited too long and they would've taken her to a "Reptile Vet" who would've done a invasive procedure which carries much more risks than than doing it yourself tje right way. Obviously Kevin has more experience and therefore he can do that, but just alone the willingness to get to the point of where he's at right now, just shows love care and dedication. Each of his animals are so important to him and he'll never unintentionally put any of his animals in danger. He just knows what he's doing and he's willing to get on his knees, get his hands dirty and do what's necessary in order to save a animal and that is what I love about him. His amazing brain, full of knowledge, his ability to be able to save reptiles on his own, without a vet and he's not shying away from getting smelly and dirty. Well, people can be talented in all kinds of areas. I never thought to hear of a "snake whisperer" but that is a 100% job of help and the snake not upset. Excellent teamwork.
I just came across your channel. It is insane how many eggs she still had inside her. I'm so glad you were able to help her and I hope she is doing much better.
As someone who's never handled a snake, it's easy to forget that as Kevin is massaging the eggs and fluid out that she has a skeleton the entire length of her body, she's not like a tube of toothpaste.
Hopefully she makes a full recovery. Sending good vibes your way. Kevin you are so caring with your animals giving them every chance to make it through anything Mother Nature throws at you. Sad there are a lot of things veterinarians won’t do. So it’s left up to the breeders. If you raise animals on any large scale you must accumulate the knowledge to do some procedures on your own.
I'm from the South. I probably said "bless her heart" 100 times throughout video. She must of felt really awful having all that inside her. I enjoy your channel. 😉😊🐍
Poor girl! I can't imagine how much that had to hurt her. She was so good to not fight y'all and just let you guys get those eggs out of her. She obviously trusted you all to help her.
Kevin, awesome channel and I'm elated that you were able to help this girl get her eggs out. Hopefully 2 years later she is doing well and laying eggs more naturally.
She loves you guys so much! She trusted what you were doing to her and she still came to cuddle a little bit afterwards! That's how you know you've truely gained the trust of something so dangerous 💞
Will she be retired from breeding? Every woman watching this can imagine how agonizing this must be for her. The fix may very well have been less painful than the condition making her sick.
I don’t believe she is breeding; all female reptiles produce eggs and have the potential to become egg bound. I have read that in some species infertile eggs (from non-breeding females) can have a higher potential to be stuck since they are more often malformed.
Fertile eggs are nice and rounded, slugs or non fertile eggs are super oddly shaped and globby. Taking her out of breeding would solve nothing as willow said it actually pose more danger.
I have so much respect for Kevin and the crew at NERD ! I learn so much from your videos, even if it's sometimes hard to watch ! Thank you for what you do ! Greetings from France !

Thank you for sharing this and all your other medical video. As someone who is inspiring to become an Exotic/snake vet, seeing what and how you are helping your reptiles, when they need it, is amazing and that you’re willing to share this with us and other breeders on here, to know what to look out for, when their snake needs help with their eggs. If she could thank you Kevin, I’m sure she would do, as the stress on her body, would be tough on her.
I am actually amazed at how calm she was during that whole ordeal, she barely twitched at all while you were sticking syringes into her and moving those eggs down her body. Jeremy barely had any pressure on her neck at all. She was so good, despite the stress it must have caused her. Obviously you guys are doing something right! 😊

That's a true animal lover in every sense of the word ❤
@@iGoddess agreed for sure
Well done for your intervention in removing the snake’s old eggs and the horrible gunk that she was struggling with. I could see it upset you a bit, but imo you knew exactly what you were doing and treated her very kindly and gently. Take no notice of your critics, you know what you’re doing and i bet that snake is feeling loads better now. Thanks for sharing a very interesting video.
The fact he did this without gloves and didn't puke. Or gag is amazing
He is probably used to it he has been doing this for years
You can tell how much you love your animals! It’s really touching and profound to watch you save her life. Thank You 🙏 for sharing your knowledge, despite all the ignorance you face because of it!
Very kind!!!!!!! Thank you. K
I literally lost count by now of how many eggs this poor girl had. Way to go Kevin and team!! Hopefully, she will have a good recovery now; despite the obstacles, after these procedures. I highly doubt anyone else would take this much care into saving her. Looking forward to updates!! Hoping for nothing but the best!!
I was almost in tears... That poor baby. She is lucky she has you.
Every animal in this channel is lucky to have Kevin :)
Poor mama!!! I’m so glad y’all were gentle and able to help her! From one mama to another, I hope she recovers fully!
All animals need to be cared for so it’s awesome to see people care for the animals that probably 95%of people hate. You obviously love these animals and have their best interests at heart. Brilliant video, thanks for sharing 🙏🏻👍🏻
As traumatic and painful as I’m sure it would be, I can’t imagine the relief she is feeling now that you’ve all stepped in and cared for her. You all take such wonderful care of your animals ❤️
She was so well behaved through this, she must have been feeling absolutely rotten. Anyone who criticises how Kevin and the crew at Nerd dealt with this was amazing, they were calm and collected. I hope this wont effect future breeding for her. Xx
I'm glad you were able to get the eggs out before it did any damage to her. She's a beautiful snake.
Hey Alicia, I'm glad tooo
@@NewEnglandReptile from what I'm seeing her, she was basically experience the egg laying version of a miscarriage
“It’s all unavoidable” but that’s why you’re here. It’s unavoidable, but you’re here to help them and make them better and you do. You truly care about your animals and it shows. Love your vids, hope she’s doing well she’s a beautiful gal
Oh my goodness, poor sweetheart.... she must feel so much better now. Makes me want to give her a cuddle. I can’t imagine how uncomfortable and painful that must have been! Thank you for caring for her so wonderfully! You’re amazing at what you do! I love the fact that she simply allowed you to do what was needed, she was so calm throughout the ordeal. You’ve got a gift with reptiles, I swear!
Kevin and his crew are amazing . Its like she knew they were trying to help her . She was all calm
Not many vets like to handle reptiles at all. I am not a snake person but I found value in your video. Wow!! I never seen a snake so egg bound!
This popped up on my recommended, and I'm honestly insanely impressed by it. Your knowledge and quick work to help this poor girl has me floored. Glad there are people like you out there who give these snakes a chance
It was incredible watching you work with this snake. She appeared to know you were helping her. Your knowledge of what was wrong and how to fix it goes ways beyond what most vets know. Kudos to you and your be crew.
This was amazing to watch! The skill and care that you show is just unbelievable. When you close your eyes and are feeling and sensing what is going on within the snake and what step you should take next......I mean that was so great to watch. I could just sense how much you truly care about helping her and she probably felt so much better with all of that gunk and toxicity within her gone. You are amaZing! 🤘🏽
I don’t think my local vet would even know how to help in a situation like this.. I am amazed with the lengths you go for your animals! You and your team are top notch Kevin!
I thought of you when I saw this.
I tried a dozen different vets when my girl got eggbound but not one would even look at her.
How many people are praying for her full and speedy recovery? (I mean, besides everyone!) Poor, sweet Mama! Awesome job, guys!!!
Just wanted to say thank you, for your love and dedication to your animals.
No matter what the difficulty of their needs are you always step in to help them.
I really admire that and am grateful you exist as a positive example in a world that needs them.
Wonderfulness!!!! K
What the fuck did your comment even mean?
Snakes are pretty flexible :) is a point though. People forget about their ribs.
@@susanmartin3762 he's saying people forget snakes have more bones than a spine.
Tube of toothpaste 😂😂
Hopefully she makes a full recovery. Sending good vibes your way. Kevin you are so caring with your animals giving them every chance to make it through anything Mother Nature throws at you. Sad there are a lot of things veterinarians won’t do. So it’s left up to the breeders. If you raise animals on any large scale you must accumulate the knowledge to do some procedures on your own.
You can see everyone's heart breaking at the trama this has brought to this snake
I'm from the South. I probably said "bless her heart" 100 times throughout video. She must of felt really awful having all that inside her. I enjoy your channel. 😉😊🐍
Them: yo snek we're gonna root around your insides for a sec, wanna watch?
Snek: yeah it'll be chill
Poor girl! I can't imagine how much that had to hurt her. She was so good to not fight y'all and just let you guys get those eggs out of her. She obviously trusted you all to help her.
Brian barczyk using tools to get his corn snakes eggs out because it’s egg bound
Kevin just causally using his hand hahahah
Wow seeing you do this whilst so often looking at the ceiling. Amazing sense of touch. Hope the girl recovers fully.
Haaaaaaaa I’m
Thinking with my fingers!!!! K
6:27 I love how the sign behind him says "NO TOUCHY!! Will consume you"
Lol, same
He did better than most bets would have EVER done. You can tell the snake trusted him very much. Great job!
She’s going to feel so much better with all that out of her now
Can we all just take a moment to appreciate just how f’n amazing Kevin is!? I just love everything he stands for and who he is 🥰
Kindness!!!!! K
❤❤💯🐍❤❤
What a calm snake, and a calm Kevin, he really is the best x
@@DoraSmith55 considering they didnt seem fertile in the first place she may not have even bred this year
I have so much respect for Kevin and the crew at NERD ! I learn so much from your videos, even if it's sometimes hard to watch !
Thank you for what you do ! Greetings from France !
Thank you !!!!! K
I know. I love the fact that even the ugly parts of all of this are shown. Even though it sucks when things go wrong
That was really hard to watch, but I'm glad that there is someone like you out there that could help that poor snake. I hope she makes a speedy recovery. 🐍
"They're dangerous, but can be cute sometimes"
-A calm person.
I can only imagine how painful this must have been. Both during and before. You had to do a lot of working to get that through. But I also imagine that no one anywhere near you would have the experience to actually do what you just did. Good job saving her life. Shes in good hands
She is so patient. And getting those nasty eggs out is strangely satisfying.
You are a blessing for reptiles. Like you said in this video, their aren't many veterans who would have the knowledge or the willingness to do this for a snake. Keep up the awesome work 🥰
You spelled veterinarians wrong lol.
She must have felt SO much relief! I can’t imagine having all of that rotting gunk inside me!
I am absolutely fascinated and scared to death of snakes. You make everything look so easy. I really enjoy your videos
She would die if this happened in the wild poor girl 😔 Lucky to have you keeping her
This is heartbreaking, thank you for being there and saving her from so much further pain. God bless you and your crew!!
Your heart is broken by a knife now you can't pump blood to your body uh oh you died your dead after your heart broke
Ive seen people say that snakes don't really have emotion, but i do think that they can tell if something is helping them
@@evthespineconfiscator8652 I think people who say that about any animal haven't spent enough time around them.
You can tell how much Kevin and the team care about this gorgeous snake. Great job.
That was totally amazing. I've never seen anything like that before. The dedication of this guy is just awesome to watch.
Wow it's really interesting and incredibly heartbreaking all around. Thank God Kevin is around as a resource. Otherwise the poor snake wouldn"t have any chance.
Poor girl! Glad she has Kevin and the rest of you guys to care for her! She’s a real beauty
Kevin is a Godsend to this hobby. If not for him, it would be void of so very much vital information. The world needs more books, from your incredible mind ♡
U r kind!!!!! K
@@NewEnglandReptile no Kevin. I'm just honest ♡
Wow! Good job Kevin and crew! Your knowledge, patience and care for these beautiful reptiles is amazing.
Hopefully she has made a full recovery
Watching the snake watch you told me you you are the best at what you do. I'm so glad you were able to ease her obvious suffering. You should be an adjunct prof. at every vet school in America. Even if it's just by Zoom. Seriously. 🐍🐍🐍
Bless her heart. ❤ She's got to feel better (after initial soreness goes away). Great job guys and please update us on her in a future video!
Its amazing how calm the snake was
Brilliant display of doing anything required for your animals. This would be a death sentence for almost any other keepers snakes. The amount of built up experience, knowledge, confidence and guts/passion you lot show is insane! Couldn’t respect what you do more! Hope the big mama heals up well after all of this, looking a little like empty toothpaste the poor girl ❤️
Wow I am not a snake fan but Wow that was incredible. The snake seemed better off after the procedure. I hate suffering of any kind, I’m so glad to see they have a qualified someone who can take care of them and love them the way you do. Lucky Snakes, and thanks for sharing with us.
That poor baby. She was so patient while they helped her. Beautiful animal. I really hope she's doing better.
Kevin is like the god of snakekeepers, he really knows everything :D
Marvin, thanks for stopping by n leaving this Comment🤓
Feeling really sad for this beauty, and I agree you probably couldn't find a vet to perform this task, so God made Kevin, lol, seriously it's amazing what he's willing to do to save his reptilian friend...I sincerely hope she makes it. Thanks for the upload.
That was bad ass. you can tell you’re a very intelligent person those animals must love you a lot!
The snake douche might be my favorite thing on the internet. Seriously though, that was some serious love for your snakes. You are an incredible care giver for your creatures,
Don't know how I ended up here but glad I stayed - fascinating to watch.
Kevin we all Love and appreciate everything you do!!! Thank you for being you! Poor girl! Love all you guys at NERD!!!!! 💚💚💚
