    Hi, I wanted to do this effect on a piece of text but couldn't use the wind filter on text... I tried making the text a smart object and even tried copying and pasting as an image but I still can't get the bit around 3:40 to do with copying the layer, selecting, inverting and deleting... I've tried several times but it's just not working... any suggestions?

    • @BLTV_Photoshop
      @BLTV_Photoshop  7 років тому

      I'm sure there's a simple explanation, but it could be one of a dozen reasons. One would have to inspect your file to determine the source of the problem. Sorry. :-(

  •  2 роки тому

    How do we design this work as a changeable mock-up, and we would be very glad if you could make a video of it, good work..

    • @BLTV_Photoshop
      @BLTV_Photoshop  2 роки тому

      Unfortunately, due to the complexity of this effect, Smart Objects won't work.

    Very nice. How do you get a pressed logo or text effect. Example, I have a logo that I just want pressed into a wood background. I've done it before but I can't remember what I did. I do remember it was fairly simple to do.

    Hey Marty Amazing tutorial!!! i Did it for a logo!! But Do you think its possible to do it of like a picture. Like say i took a landscape background or a space background. I did try it but it did not turn out very well. But I do not know if i was doing it wrong or something.

    • @BLTV_Photoshop
      @BLTV_Photoshop  7 років тому +1

      Photos need to be converted to pure black and white. You can use "Threshold" or other filters to do this.

    CMD-F doesn't makes sense in Photoshop CC 2021. There are also some other flaws in the video, but I think it has something do to with the version of PS.

    Marty, I've usually converted my photos first to black and white before making the displacement map. I learned it makes for better contrast so the object wrapping around the subject makes for better displacement. Has photoshop evolved so this step can be skipped now?

    • @BLTV_Photoshop
      @BLTV_Photoshop  7 років тому +1

      Frankly, I've done it both ways. I've found that it doesn't really make a difference, since a displacement map uses tonal ranges to displace an image. Since tonal range pre-exists in color, it's not really necessary to desaturate an image. However, if I want to enhance the displacement effect, I'll increase the contrast of the displacement map. It's easier to see this when it's been desaturated first.

    I'm not sure if anyone else is having this issue...I can't access Modify. Not sure if this is the issue but no matter how I make my font image, it transports into Ps already with a transparent background. I have created it in Ai, Ps and Jpeg. None work. Also the Shift+Ctrl+I only worked once with much persistence. Not sure if anyone has some tips.

    • @genevievenicholson3240

      I was able to access this by using the lasso tool. However, now stopped with the Ctrl + F keys not working. Ugh.
