it is now possible to make timeless works with timeless design techniques, just photoshop shortcuts that change, but if it is the design style that does not change, we are grateful to you for teaching us this..
Great job Marty, loved all the hot keys you taught along with this tutorial. It wasn't exactly what I was looking to learn but those extra work arounds kept me there until the end!
Such a great and helpful video. You really know how to do these kind of things. I'm a graphic designer myself, but sometimes I just want to check out some videos to see if I can update my knowledge or if I'm missing some cool stuff. You'r vids are great for beginners or advanced.
Marty you are so knowledgeable,,,Thank you so much Have a great day I do not have photoshop but I can appreciate your talent and enjoy watching your videos, have a nice evening Leslie.
Very cool!!!! Im gonna work with laser engraver and i will need to make a lot of previews before do the real work.. Thank you very much!!! Sorry for my english
i love your videos, they're so helpful! do you have anything similar to this..with a wood background but the text made to look like paint? or do you have something similar that I could adapt? i need to make a logo for a house painter :/
Just found your tutorials with this one. I was hoping it was how to use my cnc machine to make a real wood burn. :) but very cool none the less. I love the style of the logo. Do you do logos for company's?
Marty thank you very much for your video! As always, they are concise, easy-to-follow and have great results! I'm wondering if you would do some photo (beauty) retouch videos about how to make a photo look better or remove flaws on the skin etc. Thank you!
Hi BL Terrific tut, I tried the earlier one but my CC version didn't completely match. I started with a black logo and it remained black throughout. I was looking - hoping - for that attractive burnt wood color. I note your wood layer is distinctly reddish whereas mine is my own worktable top, a sort of driftwood gray with black shadows and knots. But the logo just looks black. I tried painting a different color but it just doesn't look good.
Thank you Marty, Your presentations are so consistent, it's impressive. What is the possibility of you doing a series on video presentations? I would love to learn how to master the art of conveying a complex process as well as you do in so little time. Do you script and storyboard your presentations? What tools do you use to make them and how long do they take to produce? Glad I found you, Great Stuff!!
Ger Prz I have no interest in doing videos about video presentation, but thank you for the suggestion. It's an evolutionary learning process that has taken me years of trial and error. Everyone who does video presentations has his own process. What works for me may or may not work for someone else. I script my tutorials after I do the screen capture using Camtasia Studio. It takes me a few days to complete a 10 minute video. Hope this helps.
I have a flat bed printer and would love to use this technique to print on actual piece of timber. Is there a way of making this technique without actually having to have the timber background layer in photo, so my printer prints the text with the burn effect only?
I'm not very good at using PhotoShop just yet, but I want to create something that I can add additional text to later. Could I just add additional text to the same layer, and the wood burn effect will automatically get applied, or would I need to apply all of these effects each time I add additional text to the document?
You could convert your text into a Smart Object, but in this case, not every step may be changed by simply replacing the text. You may have to manually make changes, as well.
@@BLTV_Photoshop thanks for the quick reply. I appreciate the tutorial and will be using it for guidance. I assume I’ll just have to print it out and use a transfer tool to transfer it onto the wood.
Thank you very much for sharing for me it only work with text, when i work with black and white image, it disappear when i change to 'colour burn'... Help..........
+Jenny Ko Go to Image > Adjustments > Threshold. Then, go to Select > Color Range > Shadows (in fly-out list). Press Ctrl or Cmd + J to cut & copy the black areas to its own layer.
To fill an empty layer with the current foreground or background color use Alt + Delete or Option + Backspace on the Mac to fill the layer with the Foreground color or Ctrl + Delete or Command + Backspace on the Mac or to fill with the Background color. For anybody with Photoshop CC, CTRL+F to repeat the wind effect is now CTRL+ALT+F by default :)
To repeat a filter, Ctrl + F has always worked for me on every version including CC.
CMND + F on my Mac running CC 2017 brings up the search function. I'll have to see if CMND + ALT + F works!
Ctrl + F brings up search for me too. thanks for the tip MellowJelly! (Photoshop CC 2017) Marty, did you by chance revise your keyword shortcuts in your new version?

Go to Image . Mode > RGB color, 8 bits/Channel.
I wonder, can you think one day to make a simple animated pendulum tutorial? It could be interesting. Only an idea!
I entered the Matrix with this 3d image spin at the end

For those who think the text is ending up too distorted: Skip the expansion and gaussian blur. Also, you can do the wind thing only once.
great tutorial!
however everytime I go to invert my logo - instead of white its a weird mauve colour and it doesnt show up well on the wood..
help!

Great video, but how do we actually print this onto the wood?
It's just a Photoshop exercise showing you how to create the LOOK of burned-in images on wood.
@@BLTV_Photoshop thanks for the quick reply. I appreciate the tutorial and will be using it for guidance. I assume I’ll just have to print it out and use a transfer tool to transfer it onto the wood.
Thank you so much for this :)
if i want yellow/gold color inside, what should i do? i have a dark green wood background
THANK YOU!!!
That a great video.
Thank You Sir!!!
Great video, but what was the purpose of the steps from 4:55 onwards? I think it looked better before this.
The purpose is to intensify the burn effect. If you think it looks better beforehand, that's fine, too.
Thanks :)
Thank you very much for sharing

I have Adobe Photoshop CC build 2015-5.0 and I don't have an "Inner shadow" in the layer styles? Any help would be appreciated! :)
Inner Shadow is a default layer style in all full versions of PS.
I’m not sure if it’s a settings issue but whenever you do the ALT + Del nothing happens, is there a different shortcut to it?
To fill an empty layer with the current foreground or background color use Alt + Delete or Option + Backspace on the Mac to fill the layer with the Foreground color or Ctrl + Delete or Command + Backspace on the Mac or to fill with the Background color.
NOTE: community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop/alt-delete-shortcut-not-working-anymore/td-p/9434789?page=1
any help with adobe 2020 as well? I can't make it look the same even after doing everything as you said...
I'll be updating this tutorial shortly.
bravo merci
Perfect
wonderful thank you xx :)
How did you make that own logo of yours?
with vectors in either photoshop or illustrator. vectors can be made with the pen and/or shape tools. :) check out some tutorials
I am having issues with my project. I am unable to click on "Modify"....
It is not highlighted as an option to use. What can I do?
¡Buenérrimo, gracias!"
How can I make a logo like yours?
Would this work on Elements 11?
Sorry, I've never worked on Elements.
I need to know how to do this on toast!
Marty I love you
