Thank you for putting this together. It's disappointing how bad the dynamic stabilization is on third party lenses, have the same issues with my Tamron lenses on my ZV-E1.
Man nobody--as far as i checked-- showed difference on stabilization performance between the natives and 3rd parties like this clearly. Im on my way to sell out all my sigmas and gonna stop by B&H for sony 35mm. Thanks for your time for this great comparison.
That's a forgivable level of crop on the gyro stabilization shots. I just got an fx3 with the same sigma lense. With a standard body and top handle having any tricks for stable walk and talk shots? Without putting more weight?
For walking shots, it's either Gyro or Sony lenses. But with Gyro you're limited with wide or long end of the zoom range, unless you don't mind using Catalyst Browse.
Does it matter the AGE of the Sony native lens? Does it have to be a newer lens, released since this camera was released? I'm getting a Sony 16-35mm 2.8 and am debating between the GM and GMII. I can get a Used GM for much cheaper.
I’ve done a lot of testing and I find out that prime lenses are way better than zoom lenses with stabilization. Sony and Samyang prime lenses works better than Sony and Sigma zoom lenses in all stabilization modes.
a6700 user here: Yes, absolutely. With Sony wide angle lenses like the 15/1.4 or the 10-20, I get almost gimbal like video stabilization with Active Steadyshot while it's completely inefficient with Sigma or Viltrox lenses.
@@fabianlehr4318 thank you for your answer! I also have the a6700 and bought the the 11mm to replace my sigmas. I also think about getting the 35mm 1.8 oss to replace my sigma 30 or the sony 16-55mm to replace my tamron 17-70. what are your thoughts?
Do you have to disable the in camera stabilisation to use gyroflow? Wondering if its ok to just leave it on and not think about it as the dynamic is pretty good but when you want that dreamy gimbal like look still having the ability to run the odd clip through gyroflow would be nice
Same here. Been spending a lot of time for hand-held working shot with my sigma 2870 with a7cii and never got satisfied because of that random popping. Now i see what i should do rn lol
Which method do you prefer?
Gyro🎉

Yeah, it is unfortunate. Especially since Sony FF standard zooms are quite heavier and larger than Sigma's or Tamron's.
I'm never going to pick a camera at this point lol

Yes, it was eye-opening. People claim that the difference on A7IV is not as drastic but we haven't seen the tests confirming it.
Rent and test before believing a UA-camr...

I don't think it matters. The Sony lens that we used is pretty old.
Is Gyro Stabilization an IBIS setting in the camera or is it using the third party gyroflow plugin?
Gyro means plugin.
It’s using Sonys catalyst browse software

Does this also apply to sony apsc cameras such as fx30/a6700?
This means we should really get sony glass what the hell
We haven't tested those cameras, but the result will likely be similar.

It does work with it but for the best results, it's best to have it off. Catalyst browse might be a better option if you want to leave it on.
ah cool, thanks for the info, much appreciated! @@cinematools
Today i see same problem on my zv-e1 +sigma 28-70. Random shake !!
