- Oh boy, here we go. I'm relatively certain this one will stir up some competing opinions, but I'll ask you up front to comment. Do you think it's wrong to allow smoking in a walk in humidor? In this video, I'll take you through my experience over the last decade in the cigar industry on this somewhat contentious issue. Here's what I've seen and learned about this topic from the most knowledgable people in the cigar world.

I'd say follow the house rule. If the shop does not allow it, respect the house rule.
Why not? GET OVER IT. If there is a posted rule, follow it.😊
I do not think these is right or wrong rule, respect the RULES of the Shop.
Then you will not be know as rule breaker.
I guess it’s like taking a sh$t and eating a sandwich at the same time, it’s probably not a great idea but in the end is your sandwich really going to taste like shit. 😂
My local shop is a walk in humido, open floor plan store. Biggest selection you have ever seen! I smoke and walk around browsing the shelves looking for my next scores. It’s awesome.
Same at holts
I miss smoking indoors. I live in an apartment complex, So I always have to be outside in the blasting wind in Maine. After 5 years of doing that, it felt nice to sit in my car and go for a ride for a change with the cigar and sunroof open
Same so I bought a window fan and smoke next to it venting
I'm a truck driver I smoke a non-smoking places all the time hotel room s*** like that just get a good smoke away candle and some ozium spray Shelby just fine when you leave steam clean the carpets it's not like cigarette smoking where you smoke 40 to 60 of them a day inside and stay in your walls you'll be fine
You see Nick Perdomo, that guy smokes all through his factory tours. Doesn't matter where he is! Square footage matters.
Also, cigars are like cheese. Age them in the appropriate environment, and a little smoke adds flavor😂
Great point. You'll learn a lot from pros like Nick!
I would say no. A) you don't want to contaminate uncelloed cigars and B) you'd hate to see an ember land on a cigar and ruin it.
I don't necessarily see it as a sin....
I see it more of a cleanliness thing. 🤔
You want to keep a humidor as clean and fresh as possible... 🤷🏽♂️
Ash is already everywhere in the lounge, don't want to continuously clean the humidor everyday as well
I’ve been in to Corona Cigars in Orlando. The whole place is aisles of cigars in one giant room adjacent to their lounge and bar. Smoking aplenty. Didn’t seem to affect my purchased sticks one bit. It may have to do with the size and ventilation, but I have no problem abiding by whatever rules the establishment I’m in sets.
Why? Why do you need to smoke in the room with the product you are trying to sell?
I say no. The smoke can affect the non cellophane wrapped cigars like your Padron and Drew Estate stuff.
I tend to lean on the side that it doesn’t affect the cigars in the humidor smoking in the humidor. Ive smoked in my local B&M’s walk in humidor lots of times. Not for like hours and hours. But on occasion. While coming off the street with a lit cigar, I’ll smoke it while walking all throughout. They don’t care about short time in the humidor while smoking a cigar, but they aren’t going to have chairs and ash trays in the humidor for people to just sit in there all day and smoke either. Well mainly because of the foot traffic. People need room to walk around in the humidor to shop for cigars. And if there’s people sitting in the humidor they can’t necessarily do that. So I think it doesn’t hurt the cigars, but it’s probably not a good idea to smoke in the humidor for like all day or something. You can pass through or stop and talk for a few minutes wild smoking but that’s about it.
It never occured to me to smoke inside the humidor... What's the upside?
A lot of shops don’t have good air ventilation so I always appreciate walking into a non-smoking humidor to get away from the smell of stale cigar smoke while I shop.
I concur
Snob... Who cares
commercial cigar humidors and cigar smoking sitting lounge .........
I built a 100 sq foot shed in my backyard exclusively for smoking. To be fair, i have an air purifier running out their the whole time i smoke, but...zero remnant smell *at all*.
I agree with almost everything you said, with the exception of "Crusaders of the Lost Ark". 😂
Interesting enough I was in aruba at a cigar store and the owner was super cool and smoking in his own small shop, he gave me a Kristoff Signature Series PCA exclusive and it was probably the best experience i had ever had in a cigar shop to this point. (Because I haven’t made it to Arizona due to me living in Ohio)
No! No smoking in the Walk In Humidor! It's My Personal Rule For Myself! 👍👌✌️
I am ok either way. .
If the Rule says No then show Respect and don’t Be a Jagoff …
Oh no my cigars are going to smell like cigars!!
The only reason I could think of is that the shop owner wants to keep people from ashing over the inventory.
I know a lounge near me where the whole lounge is the humidor. Cigars just on shelves around the outside. Never noticed anything bad there. There’s another lounge with a separate humidor that people smoke in occasionally and the only I notice in the smoke smell. But nothing wrong with the cigars I buy there. I don’t see the point of it myself but I don’t think there is anything wrong with it
If there’s a posted rule, follow it. It doesn’t matter what you see the shop owners/employees doing, follow the posted rule. If there’s no posted rules, err on the side of don’t do it. But just like anything in a cigar shop, ask an employee if you don’t know!

Kind of like eating in a grocery store...you can do it but....
You don't smoke in a walk in humidor for the reason that you don't walk with a cigar. That's the only reason.
If there are chairs and ash trays in the humidor its okay to smoke there. If there is a no smoking sign, its not. Easy as that :D I wouldn't mind buying a cigar in a shop that allows smoking in the humidor.
wait are you just walking in and lighting one up or do you have it already lit and you walk into it. from my perspective sit down and smoke then go do what you need to do in the humidor. but you know that be me i like to just sit down with my music and have a nice smoke.......in 100 degree weather
Im pissed if im trying to pick anything palette based and its influenced by someone elses 2nd hand smoke.
I also wouldn’t accept that someone spits whisky back into a glass so i could try a new whiskey
I'm pretty new but I would guess it's going to affect the cigars and therefore not something I would do
Did Tim work for TNT?? Because that is a crazy story.. lol
Rollers literally smoke while rolling. To each their own. Some shops do some don't. I say yes it's ok
Every single cigar factory your roller has a lit cigarette cigar while rolling it
My inclination is to say no because old cigar smoke smells bad even to cigar smokers. But if the walk in is well ventilated it might not be a big sin
I dont but it’s just a personal thing it’s in closed smoke to much in there it can get hard to breathe so I just wait until I’m done not to bother others in the humidor with me. It’s just respect.
The shop that I frequent does not allow it what so ever.
I’m sure it depends on the size of the walk in. And the amount of traffic it will see.
Either way, house rules or house rules in any shop.
Sure. But why do you NEED to? And always follow the house rules!
The one store I go to has a smoking lounge on the other side of the store from the humidor.
I see no problem but of course if the house says no its a no.
Is this how he normally is?
Old husbands tails.
it ok cause got in n out air
Very simple - if the humidor allows it go for it. I would say maybe stick to the chairs and ashtray area though. Also, show us your hat and liquor collection!
No
Lets go
I was always told it isn’t advised but I work at a cigar shop and they don’t care surprisingly. It’s well ventilated tho. Interesting topic!
[Ben Stiller meme voice] "do it!" ...well until you get asked NICELY not to
Great topic. I always wondered but simply refrained since no one else smoked in there
My state decides for you... no public indoor smoking.
That sucks!
yeah its just pretty dumb considering people are smoking cigar(S) literally the entire process of making the cigar.
I think i started getting into cigars maybe 6 or 7 years ago and it quickly became a huge passion for me. I would love to in some way be apart of the cigar industry. How does someone usually get into the cigar world?
Selling or making? Or collecting?
Working or collecting?
Making/working
@@rusbell2981 Check out your local shops, see if they're hiring, most creators/rollers are in other countries outside of the US, maybe a distributor, but it's really just a warehouse worker. Other than that you could see about getting into sales for the brands. Start searching them out online as you pick up new sticks.
I don't want to smell cigar smoke in a humidor. I want to smell the smell of unsmoked tobacco.
As a not professional heres my reasons why i think shops dont want people smoking in the humidor.
1... Dont want peopel just hanging out longer than necessary. If you can smoke while shopping theres no need to get out faster.
2... Dont want ash falling on the floor or on to cigars or in cigar boxes. They don't want to deal with extra mess.
3... Hot ash falling on to something and possibly burning it. I know ash doesnt stay hot long so its unlikely, but thats why this ones a bit of a stretch.
4... Someone not paying attention and put down thier lit cigar and it touches or falls into a box an burns a wrapper on another cigar.
5...Someone who isnt planing on staying and smoking or even someone who doesnt smoke is shopping for someone else doesnt want to have to deal with the smoke in the humidor. Sure its a cigar shop, there is going to be people smoking, but typically you can avoid that by not going over to where people are smoking.
These are just my reasons why id understand a shop owner not wanting people smoking in the humidor.
As someone whose hands have been burned by ash, they stay hot long enough to cause damage. Lol...
Cigar smoke left closed in a room stinks, it's already hard enough to keep pinpoint humidity accuracy in a large walk-in without adding a humidor ventilation system.
Your comment below. NO!
Wow what is he in prison for?????
came here to find this out too
I would rather my walk in humidor smell like a spent cigar instead of smelling like a sex shop😂
You have a Humidor? LUUUUCKY!
