A good video for proper cigar lighters! New Subscriber. I *l o v e* my newest DuPont soft flame. If one finds themselves at a quiet classy function or location where you prefer to be more discreet, you can always open the DuPont lighter with two hands or slow roll open to mute the opening sound which is so beautiful it's music to my ears every time I hear it open! Those lighters (1 single soft & 1 dual soft flame Ive purchased over the last 5 years) never fail me!

I enjoy Xikar lighters. Today I bought a Rocky Patel double jet flame lighter. I have one soft flame lighter by Xikar three single jet flame lighters and one double jet lighter by Xikar. I also have other lighters on a less expensive options in my collection. As far as cutters are concerned Xikar is my go to choice
S. T. Dupont lighters may be made in France (I believe some other lighter models of theirs are made elsewhere, including in China), but the company is Chinese-owned.
I've started my cigar journey with zippos. I always use lighter fluid by zippo and I haven't even once tasted the fluid. I even offered it to my cigar smoking friends and they only tasted the cigar so idc what other cigar smokers say I am using my zippo to light cigars.
Some time ago I finally had enough of finicky torch lighters and switched to using either a BIC lighter or a "clicker" fireplace/BBQ lighter. These lighters may be cheap but they work reliably when called upon and for me that matters more than style. That said, that "Old Boy" looks pretty sweet. Phoenix, AZ
Agreed! We use Djeep lighters a lot around the store (now owned by Bic)- but it’s hard to resist the quality and feel of the IM Corona Ol Boy! I can assure you it won’t disappoint :) -Teresa

Great question! It’s a soft-flame lighter, but it’s just not worth the risk. TSA guidelines currently say you can take disposable soft-flame lighters and Zippo lighters without fuel.
Hi @mannyman729! S.T. Dupont makes a beautiful one that has both the dual soft flame and a torch- it’s call the Le Grand Cling: gttobacco.com/product/st-dupont-lighter-le-grand-cling-diamond-head-palladium/
Well, it may make the most sense to have one good torch and one good soft flame..: but S.T. Dupont makes a beautiful hybrid called Le Grand Cling: gttobacco.com/product/st-dupont-lighter-le-grand-cling-diamond-head-palladium/
The Dupont in the video is the Paul Garmirian Soirée- only 300 made. The new version of the Le Grand will cling. They are shipping soon and we’ll post on Instagram once we have them in stock and our website!
@@georgetowntobacco great I heard the new version about 1 in 3 will cling and also have seen the screw on the baseplate covering the s in the word “Paris” on Reddit wish the bottom was one piece and not screwed or taped down and the numbers were still hand stamped quality is going down but all that being said I still have a silver palladium le grand cling that’ll be here Tuesday hopefully I don’t have to return it
You said butane lighter is more desirable for cigars but then the first and the last lighters seem like they've got fluid rather than butane. Or are they butane lighters and am I just tripping?

I just don’t want a lighter that I’m gonna pay a fortune for and it gets air pockets and clog and you have to clean the jets and everything else and still pay $100 for a new one. maybe you have a suggestion? Please Help 🙏
There are lots of great options! Give us a call tomorrow (11-7pm EST) and happy to talk through what would work best for you :) (202-338-5100) Thanks! Teresa
lighters don’t clog except for years of heavy use. Torches do. Cleaning is so easy but I have so many parts I just swap them out. Its quick but it takes forever to learn everything lighters. The jets are just a screen and a see through alloy.metal disk. Anything that burns leaves carbon.
With a premium butane, this is about as clean as you can get-- but we have a variety of lighters and styles so everyone can find the right thing for them :)
@@TheCarpenterUnion I doubt that and I will test it. If you move a gas flame too close to meat for example, the meat tastes disgusting, if you keep it a couple of centimeters away its fine - same here, if you put the cigar directly above the wick you might get some fumes into the cigar, but if its above I bet you wont.
@@BoonieChris Zippos are great and if you like to carry one then you do you. You can absolutely use a zippo without affecting the taste if you do it correctly. The point is that if you choose a butane lighter, that potential problem goes away entirely. It's a recommendation, not a law. You can also put a butane lighter in your humidor or cigar travel pouch, which I absolutely wouldn't do with a zippo.
It’s a personal choice- but I know I’ll have that Dupont for the rest of my life- and people will be using it long after I’m gone. Not too many things being made today you can say that about. So no scam here, but if it’s not for you, there are so many great options!

Untrue Zippo statement...
I doubt theres a single human being on earth who tastes if it was lit with a Zippo. Just dont store both together.
You definitely get the lighter fluid fumes. Pretty gross.

Using Zippo daily gets also quite messy with the fluid leaking, and evaporating. In the end, a simple BIC lighter is the most reliable choice.
