The fact that this fantasy series has a map of its solar system and galaxy, and those are actually important, just goes to show how much Sanderson is writing a different kind of fiction from most of his peers.
I do wonder though if BS is using a patheon of chinese writers to write all this stuff. Don't get me wrong, I think its great. But some of the writing does cocasionally look like its beeen transalted in to English from something else. Adding, 'himself' to the end of every sentance is something that makes me think this looks like a translation hiccup.
Not to mention it’s part of the larger cosmere, where every fantasy world is a planet in an actual solar system. It gets even more ridiculous when you dive into things like Investiture mechanics. Investiture, the stuff that powers all of the various magic systems, is actually a state of existence in the cosmere. Think of how in our universe, matter and energy are the same thing in different forms, in a way. In the cosmere, it’s matter, energy, and investiture, and he actually has physicists actively helping him work out how the mechanics of Investiture work.
I remember having my mind being blown when I was reading the books and was like "whoa" when it was ultimately revealed that humanity were the original "voidbringers"
What I'm most eager to see is the coverage of some of the battles, especially the Battle of the Tower, and maybe a general coverage of the War of Vengeance, simply due to how unique that war was thanks to terrain, Roshar's weather, and Alethi culture.
Yay! I've already at the half on the Way of Kings. Good to see a book from Brandon Sanderson on the channel. Suggestion: A Wizards & Warriors episode about the historicity of the Ramayana and Mahabharata poems of ancient India.
I've been slightly obsessed with the cosmere for a while.. my 5yo son Kaladin can attest. I really love this video and form factor. In the books, the lore is scattered like the shards themselves. It's nice to see a neat linear background story. I'm excited for deeper dives! Side note: The word chicken is used in the series to describe a variety of birds. However, i don't think any of them are mammals.. 🤣
This is the first time I heard of this series and I like it already! Also, sorry for missing the previous video. I was busy. Edit: Why did those sixteen mortals murdered a deity? And how did they succeed in doing so?
You got yourself some massive spoilers! Not only for the Stormlight series but for the Commerce Stories! But I'm sure you will enjoy the whole ride, if You decide to dive into the Series/Cosmere
Why is not made clear yet, but the how is known. They used a set of four superweapons known as the Dawnshards that Adonalasium created. We don't yet know exactly how they work but there is a side story, titled Dawnshard, that deals with a woman on Roshar finding one.
Appreciate the spoiler warnings, though every lore video is full of spoilers. Yet we lore enthusiasts view at our own peril and curiosity. I hope W&W will one day cover a fantasy or sci-fi world from anime/manga. My top recommendations:- *Naruto *Fullmetal Alchemist *Attack on Titan *Gundam (Universal Century)
Never thought about thia before this video, how did the listeners change forms before honor and cultivation, i kind of assumed that roshar worked differently before them
Discussed a little in the Stormlight books by Wit/Hoid, also in the short stories but most of the Odium backstory in this video comes from other worldhoppers who are kinda mystery characters but you can tell are Worldhoppers from other Cosmere books, also Cosmere updates on Sanderson's website and plans for the upcoming book about the murder of Adonalsium. There might be more sources but I knew all of this info before watching this video. However, this video is great and very neatly puts all info in one spot.
I'm became 100% on team Parshendi after the reveal. The humans, especially Vorin followers, can suck it. Are we sure this isn't an allegory for something historic? (Tried to make the comment less spoiler-y, in case someone didn't watch the full video...)
A beautifully realized world hampered by astoundingly bad character development and the relative interchangeability of the main characters’ personalities.
I... I literally could not disagree more. To each their own, but I disagree 100%, and am baffled by this opinion. The characters and their development are my favorite aspects of the Stormlight Archive, and Cosmere as a whole.
@@MyNinjaPenguin17 To me it’s five characters with PTSD growing into characters with PTSD evolving into people with PTSD becoming individuals seriously hampered by PTSD. I love Lift. But her role is minimal in the main series. When Kaladin’s perpetual weakness allowed the death of Elhokar, I was done.
@@BigHeadedGinger No doubt. Sanderson deserves credit for that. But it’s doubtless that characters in GRRM are written far more varied and believably. Sanderson is an excellent world builder though.

These videos are unreal! I read all 4 book and didn’t fully understand the history until now. Thank you!
Like I read these books… but I couldn’t enjoy it as much without videos like this.
There was a seventeenth being present at the murder of Adonalsium. He did not take a Shard.
But he is going around the Cosmere collecting Investiture.
Yep!!
Yes, keep the SLA content coming 🤩 thank you for this !
absolutely loved this! cannot wait for another episode, thank you so much for all the hard work
this is the first time i genuinely subscribed to not miss the next video of a creator. thanks for these
Thanks for these videos! It helps from having to reread all the bokks when a new one comes out 😆
LFG always here for the cosmere videos

This is the best series ever!
This video was everything i could have hoped for
So excited for more cosmere videos!
Commenting to appease the algorithm-bringers.
So well done
beautiful videos , amazing work
This is amazing thank you for creating it !
Just started rereading the series how coincidence!!! (I’m having my gf read it too me like a good Vorin man)

Edit: Why did those sixteen mortals murdered a deity? And how did they succeed in doing so?
It's still yet to be revealed in the books
Because they were drunk. How? Adonalsium has one unfortunate weakness. Whenever He gets punched in the face, he shatters into 16 shards :(

Should I watch this video when reading Way of Kings now? Are there big spoliers? :D
No, its pretty big spoilers.
Don't watch, big spoilers for books 1-3.
Honestly these videos are better than the way of kings. I'd skip the book for something better
@@raoulcorinth1712 I personally liked The Way of Kings despite the pacing problems. The following books are also much better in my opinion.
another great video. One question though, when can we expect the next 40k video by?
Soon
Please do more or these Cosmere lore videos😍👌
Never thought about thia before this video, how did the listeners change forms before honor and cultivation, i kind of assumed that roshar worked differently before them
They go into the highstorm and bond with different types of spren to get their various forms. But not forms of power like the fused.
Bonds are part of the shard of honour. But the powers existed before it was splintered into 16 shards
Chapter 83 of Rhythm of war gives some incite to ancient listeners
I really want a video chronicling the Dominion War from Star Trek
thank you
MORE STORMLIGHT YESS
❤❤❤
I read all four books, and I haven't read Odium's journey before Roshar... I wonder where did the found that information.

This is all well and good, but when is the next First law video coming?
My literary hot take is that Sanderson should finish George R. R. Martin’s ASOIAF much like he did for wheel of time.
are Scadriel and Roshar close to each other?
anybody know what music was used in this video?
and the voidbringers are humanity, and takes over da planet, ofc 🤣
I love The Planet of Russia so much
So we're the baddies 😢
If you can consider the actions of your ancestors from 12000 years ago as yours, maybe.
How does Sanderson do this
There are 16 gods in the Cosmere and 16 metals. It may be a coincidence but I dunno.
Are there any spoilers?? I am on BOOk 2
Yes. Pretty massive spoilers for a huge plot point in book 3. Or maybe it was book 4 I don't quite remember.

Atp, _fucking HOPE_ not...

MASIVE COSMERE SPOILERS
Please do John Carter. Or Elric of Melniborne. And no offense but Harry Potter is waay past a video.
Harry Potter can suck it. Plenty of other videos on YT for that.
@@Emanon... Yes but still. I want to see a video on Grindelwald.
Love the videos but the spoiler warning was definitely too late. That should have been the very first thing you said.
Sounds like what happened to palestine/israel
Are we sure the people in this setting weren't all just Europeans?
Every part of Earth has a "New People arriving to Roshar" in their history...
Lol, as if they were the only ones who did that
