Meh 😑
Excellent video, thank you! What's the name of the song playing at the 2:30 mark?
Just found this channel via a google add, normally dont even look at those but im so glad i found your channel, amazing work all around keep it up.
Life before death, strength before weakness, journey before destination
YESSSSSSS! IT HAS BEGUN! Thank you guys for finally getting to the Cosmere. I am beyond excited.
Your hype made Me hype😂
Okay I'm interested in Sanderson's stuff now. This is a majestic world-building work.
His books are mind blowing. Have fun reading
The world building is absolutely fanastic.
Pretty underrated stuff. Hope you enjoy
Welcome to the Cosmere! Get ready for a really, realy, REALLY wild ride.
And wait until you get to know everyone's favorite Worldhopper, Hoid XD
If only the stories were as great as the world building.
Cosmere once it picks up in mainstream is going to just blow other universes out of water. Sanderson is on a different level entirely
It’s not the best video for someone to be introduced to these books as it includes a lot of general info without making a deeper focus on the most basic things (explaining the most important planets, how each magic system works, how the books are structured) and though I know that’s not the purpose of the video I'd personally love to see that with the artistic and technical quality that this video has. There are some inaccuracies that have been pointed out in other comment but I still really enjoyed it. Loved to see the artist interpretation of each shard and the depiction of Hoid is just amazing!
Glad you enjoyed the art mate. I think much is on the way in terms of in depth descriptions through some of the book series. A nice base of fans Sanderson has indeed. I am happy to create art and animation for this type of community. 🙏
Taking care of Cosmere now? This is gonna be the greatest series ever.
Mistborn! It’s such a good introduction to the Cosmere and it’s a cool way to introduce Preservation and Ruin in a tangible way
much agreed!
After watching this video, I realize that I need to redouble my effort and really delve into all of Sandersons works. I’ve read Elantris, war breaker, and both the mistborn, and storm light archive series. I’ve often felt i was missing quite a bit from references made in the books, but I wasn’t sure where to start with the rest of the cosmere.
Yoooooooo! I just got into the Cosmere a couple of months ago. Totally and completely obsessed now. Best shit I've read in YEARS. Thanks so much for the video. So hyped now! EDIT: ALL RIGHT, that's too much! I literally just started reading Stormlight Yesterday. I don't wanna know nothing about no Spren unless it's coming from the pages of this book, lol. I'll come back when I am better educated. Still, love the video, it's an excellent intro, thank you for all of your hard work!
Things to cover in the Cosmere:
Politics of Scadrial: all eras
Battles of Stormlight Archive: all books
Politics of Stormlight Archive: all books
❤️
That's a few years' worth of content right there alone.
FFXIV and now the Cosmere, the writers of this channel are going into overdrive and I'm all for it!
I would like to see more on Brandon Sanderson. He is my favorite book author. Seeing my favorite history channel covering him is like the most epic cross over ever!
I love his concept of making a connected universe throughout his books
So we're getting Brandon Sanderson so hopefully the wheel of time soon and if we feeling frisky red rising
Wow that was unexpected. For all his achievements I've always thought Sanderson's writitng was a niche even in the fantasy genre. A large niche of devoted fans, but niche anyway.
So, come round, one and all, to the Cosmere rabbit hole! Remember: there is always another secret ;)
Sanderson is as mainstream as fantasy literature is
@@JJMB27 MODERN fantasy literature.
I'm still going through my Tolkien, David Eddings, Alexander Lloyd and Dennis Mckiernan... and I have Guy Gavriel Kay marked down.
@@utubrGaming so? Don't understand how that invalidates my point
Okay, this is the first time I ever heard of Cosmere. Maybe because they never been adapted into movies or animated series before. So this really is an eye-opening! Thank you so much, the team of Wizards and Warriors!
Sanderson has stated that he'd be surprised if he wasn't standing on set next spring :)
@@methany8788 You mean there is a plan about the movie adaptation or as a series?
@@lerneanlion I'm not 100% sure if that's known yet, but given that it's supposed to he Mistborn, my money is on movie.
Edit: according to a brief google search, it'll be a movie. I may also have misremembered the time frame. They might only start production in summer. Regardless, it appears to be a sure thing at this point.
@@methany8788 Thank you!
Read it! You can start with some standalone novels like Elantris or Warbreaker which will not have a sequel in the foreseeable future.Alternatively Mistborn Era 1,then the Stormlight Archive and it's novellas (with Edgedancer and Warbreaker after Words of Radiance and Dawnshard between Oathbringer and Rhythm of War) and leave Mistborn Era 2 and Elantris at the end. Then you can read Arcanum Unbounded which reveals some spicy story details so it is best left untouched until the end :)
Considering how big the Cosmere is, it's no wonder why Brandon Sanderson is writing so many books.
Also it's so complex I have to watch it again to understand it more.
I never knew that Brandon Sanderson's Universe was *That Big!* I thought he made one unique fantasy world, I didn't know he made several more. I need to read his books.
Yeah different series are set on different planetary systems with different magic and cultures. But he likes to leave small details about the overall Cosmere. It gets exciting when you notice the worlhopers/travelers between series
I would like to see K&G cover Wheel of time or Stormlight
yep yep
@@WizardsandWarriors meh
@@WizardsandWarriors i loved randomly seeing one of you on the Dusty Wheel :)
I've never heard of this universe before this video, it's really fascinating.
It really is top notch. I have read all of the books and novellas and they are amazing. Start with Stormlight archives or mistborn series
I absolutely love sanderson
Never heard of this Sanderson before. From this brief overview of his works I am interested. Sounds like a huge world-building project and I absolutely love those
Thank you so much for this. Cosmere is indeed a marvel in world building
This is going to be a hell of a ride
Never heard of Cosmere but I have heard of Roshar & The Vengeance Pact, Can't wait for this to go deeper into detail, your videos always come with never disappointments.
While I would love Stormlight to be the first you cover, Mistborn is probably a better starting point.
Hey Dylan, who knows maybe we are doing Mistborn first. 😁
Thanks for this. I've been planning to start reading Sanderson's works for years now, and with this video, I might start as soon as I can
FINALLY! The cosmere is fantastic and I am so happy you are covering it.
YES! The Cosmere has so many amazing battles and a surprising focus on politics, especially Sanderson's recent work. Absolutely can't wait to see you cover everything that happens in the Stormlight Archive.
Very nice video, as a big Cosmere fan I am looking forward to this series. But I might have a few nitpicks and additions to the information(Spoilers ahead):
- A Shard named Survival is not confirmed, it is just fan speculation, as is its connection to Vax(which we know nothing about).
- Devotion and Dominion have also been killed and Splintered by Odium, their Investiture leaking uncontrollably into the Selish cognitive realm, making it a very dangerous place.
- The Shards are actually primarily residing in the Spiritual realm, and its clearly distinct from the afterlife(the afterlife is the beyond which is totally unknown).
- Would call Autonomy more expansionist rather than isolationist as she is claiming more worlds, creating semi-autonomous Avatar Gods from her self. The God on First of the Sun, Patji, is one of her Avatars for instance.
-Virtiousity is another confirmed Shard
Gotta second you on this. Noticed the same but overall it is a very good start. -also skipped Obradai but nothing really is known of it
Autonomy is pretty isolationist also, by virtue of the Shard's nature.
Autonomy enforces isolationism on Taldain while also expanding her influence elsewhere
The Cosmere needs a videogame. A huge one
This is a very good intro to the Cosmere. As a fan of it, starting from a chance buy of Mistborn Book 1: Final Empire, thank you.
The Seventeenth Shard will be knocking on your door now, asking questions.
And thank you for not spoiling Hoid, the recent events in Roshar, and most especially post-Era 1 Scadrial :D
I feel like 80% of this went right over my head, but it certainly sounds neat.
Its over such a huge expanse of books, many of which only hint at certain facts mentioned. Luckily, the author is very big on communicating with the fanbase. Check out his UA-cam channel!
The hierarchy of BookTube is about to change.
Holy shit! Let's fucking go!!!! I've been obsessed with everything Sanderson for years now!
You're finally covering the Stormlight Archives! Thanks!
Very good introduction. This was a nice way to get a new perspective on the Cosmere, especially with the brilliant artwork.
The Cosmere truly is one of the most expansive and exciting universes I've ever seen. From first reading Warbreaker to then finding out that a character from another planet showed up in another series was eye opening.
Then to find out that every very different magic system all derived from the same source and set of rules was fascinating
@@steelshanks1265 I mean, I'm assuming some of the broader concepts, but the individual magic systems seem quite unique.
I'm not knowledgeable about magic the gathering, but I do know brandon likes it quite a bit, so feel free to let me know of the comparisons
(Also, keep in mind that this is just a short overview of the overarching stage of the Cosmere. The individual planets all have very unique magic systems that aren't talked about in depth here.)
I've never heard of this before, and I've never read any of Sanderson's books(I've been told to stay away from them) and I don't know if I'd enjoy them if i read them. However watching these videos will definitely be more enjoyable then reading the books at least for me.
Just read them 😁
A Cosmere video by Wizards and Warriors?!?!?! Please tell me I'm dreaming. YESSSSSSS!!!!!! THIS IS AWESOME!!!! Please make more of these. The Cosmere is like a treasure trove of fantasy content.
Saw the title and I've never heard of this once before in my life
What are your thoughts after seeing the video?
I’m about halfway through book three of the Stormlight Archives and I adore Roshar, as do my brother and mother. They have even started calling me Kalladan because I also fight with a spear and do well
😁
It's so fun to watch stuff like this after reading the books first
A surprise to be sure, but a welcomed one!
And remember friends, "there's always another secret"
You're doing Cosmere? Oh my gosh, you guys are awesome
LOVE that you are covering this. Sanderson’s work needs more recognition and a professional exposition like this does him justice! Thank you.
Wow thats a pleasant surprise! After Hot D ended im only looking forward to the Lost Metal, hope this is the start of a big cool cosmere series.
Wow! And amazingly produced video. I'm super glad you made this; more exposure for Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere is always a plus in my book.
There are a few inaccuracies in the video, though. Most of them are nitpicks, so I'll only point out the important ones.
* Spoiler Warning*
4:35 Magic systems can exist on words without shards and are more a property of how investiture manifests on any given world. Shards do often change the pre-existing magic systems.
7:35 The implication that mortals inhabit just the physical realm is wrong. A normal person (there are exceptions) exists in all three realms at once. The physical scenes experience the physical realm, the mind experiences the cognitive realm, and the spirit (also known as the spirit-web) exists in the spiritual realm. Note: you can move your physical body to the cognitive realm by various means.
7:40 The spiritual realm is explicitly NOT the afterlife (it's way stranger than that). Brandon Sanderson explicitly wants to leave the question as to whether there is an afterlife up to interpretation. The name for the hypothetical afterlife is "The Beyond".
Here is where Brandon discusses it *MAJOR SPOILERS* wob.coppermind.net/events/406-general-reddit-2020/#e13765
15:50 You note here that ambition was once on threnody ( Ambition was shattered, and the vessel was killed); this is correct. However, you didn't note that the same thing has happened to Honor on Roshar (as of Rythem of War). The vessel of Domination and Devotion were also killed; however, these shards were shattered uniquely.
17:10 The 'Survival Shard' is a complex one. Brandon hinted at a shard named along the lines of survival back in 2011. However, we don't know if this shard is one of the shards raveled after Brandon's hint, or whether it's one of the two shards we don't currently know the names of. Also, not all shards are associated with a planet.
thank you soooooooooo much for starting this. couldnt be happier! cosmere is awesome!
"More on that in our future Stormlight Archive videos"
YES!!!! Hahaha I'm so excited!
So many people are going to discover Sandersons amazing Cosmere thanks to this video, Thank you!
MOOORRREEEE!!!! 😂
I've been going through Sanderson's stuff over the past year and half, I think the only two books I haven't read are Elantris and White Sands. But I've been loving it, especially the Mistborn and Stormlight series. And I'm glad that more and more people are getting into it, especially now that the Cosmere seems like it's on the brink of really breaking out into pop culture.
Such devotion by this channel to the expansion of its growing dominion, performing many acts of preservation against the ruin of forgetfulness, avoiding acts of odium, maintaining an attitude of fantastical cultivation and showing much honor to the stories it tells, it's endowment of knowledge a pleasure to receive, with greater autonomy and growing ambition perhaps one day allowing escape from the spectre of Raid: Shadow Legends and other cringe ads, the invention of Patreon and increasing subscriptions furthering this goal, with nitpickers showing mercy to small errors and writers demonstrating valor in continuing their work despite the increasing pressures of reality, the whimsy of its exploration of great tales providing great variety, which will ensure survival for many years to come.
Well said good sir. Less Raid, more better skin care. :)
Thumbs up.
OMG! My favorite author!
YEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THE COSMERE TO BE ON THIS CHANNEL FOR SO LONG! ❤❤❤
First
Guys hope you do way more alt history
The mongol alt history really had me on my seat
I hope you guys pay respect to the true capability of the mongol war Machine
While also talking about the aftermath of mongol conquest
You can look at how other nations turned out after conquest by mongols
Other ideas of alt history
Fall of constantinople in 711
I had never heard of this series and this was a lot to take in, but I loved it.
Thank you for covering this Universe!
Very excited for upcoming cosmere videos. Brilliant decision
Most interesting, indeed, very intriguing.
Lets goooo! This is my all-time favorite! This will be a blast!
Nov 15 is Brandon Sanderson's Lost Metal book release to his BEST SERIES MISTBORN
Only read stormlight archive and am on book two of mistborn and im loving it.
I'm so excited for more cosmere content and more people finding out about these amazing worlds.
I needed this. I've read mistborn and just started way of Kings
wow this video is amazing. really helps me understand the Cosmere before hopefully diving into the books this year.
Interesting. I've never heard of the author nor any of his works but it's kind of neat to see.
Very recommended!
This multi-verse Cosmere, makes more sense than the Legend of Zelda timelines.
I've been wanting to get into Brandon sandersons writing for some time now but have yet to find a good free moment for myself to do so.
All the more so I am happy to see you doing a series on his expansive creations.
This was already my favorite channel. Now I don't see how another channel can touch this. Mistborn era 1 and 2 are my favorite
Holy shot I just read stormlight too this is awesome
Love this! I got into the Cosmere a few years ago with the Stormlight Archives. Smashed through all of those and Warbreaker, now enjoying the Mistoborn (Era 1).
Soooo excited to see this!!!! Can we get some videos on Mistborn?
Very soon!
I am so here for Cosmere stuff. Thanks for doing this!
YES! i have been not so patiently waiting for you to dip into the cosmere!
I recently finished all the books (yet) on the stormlight archives. Really happy you are making videos on this. It's a really interesting universe.
Awsome to see that you cover the cosmere now, it is one of my favorite fantasy universes. Personally, I would love it if you could dive into the Stormlight Archives :) thanks for the amazing content
Oh hell yes. I've been waiting so long to see youtube Cosmere content.
Survival? Has the Shard been named? Wasn't it just a hint as to its Intent? Or is there a WoB I'm missing?
Awesome video, by the way. So glad you guys are doing a series on one of the greatest fictional universes. Can't wait to see more.
It's just a hint, not directly named
Yeah. It's just a hint. It's not quite clear if Survival is a separate shard that those already revealed. Though more likely it's Wisdom/Prudence or something along those line.
Your videos are amazing, not all voices are created equal lol yours is very well suited for the documentary style you present. Fantastic.
Yes!!! The Cosmere!
Please do the Battle of the Tower. Of all the battles Sanderson has written, it's easily one of the best!
This whole bookserie and Sanderson got me into (audio) books! Especially the graphic audio ones, sometimes it got so intens I needed to take some time off. Its such a great point to start into fantasy books.
same my first audio book was elantris , graphic audio version , and from then on i have listened to thousands of audio books to the point that all i do is listen to audio books now
Storms, yes!
Wow i didn't realize this multiverse was so fleshed out! Where does the guy find the time??
He is a machine
@@WizardsandWarriors at this point i believe it !
Every fantasy fan should look into reading A Stormlight Archive. The first book is a very slow burn, but if you keep at it, you get handsomely rewarded
Can’t wait for you guys to get to the Wheel of Time!
Can't wait for the next videos! The Cosmere is my favourite fantasy universe. Welcome to all the new readers!
I am so so so excited for this!!! I love all this channel’s content and now we are finally getting cosmere content!! so happy
Thanks for covering all these amazing sci-fi fantasies, truly thinking of the fans, thanks again guys 👍
I am glad you could make sense of this universe for me
Keep this series coming! Can't wait to see Roshar battles portraited it here 😎
never thought I'd see the day you guys tackle the Cosmere
Pretty Underrated Author. Start with Mistborn Its epic. I am reading Stormlight Archives now, jesus the volume of lore and scale of battles are too great.
Awesome that you're doing Sanderson! Hopefully this will lead into doing Wheel of Time
Looking forward to your history of the Sakura Wars
Great narration, animation, and music. Love it all. Thanks.
Wow. This is a fantastic production
Interesting, a universe with more than one powerful entity, multiple magic systems and various worlds. Looks like there are plenty of unknowns as well. Can’t wait to see what follows as this was more of laying the groundwork for the lore and something tells me I need to start reading Sanderson’s works.
Great video! Can't wait for more, also would love to see The Wheel of Time
