Yes, Lots of fans seem to go for the barbed wire, thumb tacks, explosives, broken glass, can openers, plastic knives, biting, and buckets of blood, but I hate them. Jericho obviously thinks he needs it for his legacy, but it is degrading for everyone, and I don't want torture and blood for my entertainment, thank you.
Past greatness just makes it worse when once great performers have lost their mojo, because it just serves to remind fans of how far the guy has fallen. I mean, I saw once match where an aged, injured Dynamite Kid had a throw back match with Tiger Mask. Its pretty heart breaking.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that's been thinking that, I go back to those to see Le Champion and The Lexicon of Le Champion segments. Adter losing the title to Moxley, is as if he started having a mid life crisis.
Went from one of the best people on AEW to see for the first year to the most irritating part of AEW. Thought the Orange Cassidy push and gimmick was irritating but Jericho has taken this to an entirely new low

Also the end was the funniest part ever: the "FUCK! GODDAMMIT!" when Kingstone whiffed the backhand thanks to Sammy just suckerpunching Jericho out of the blue was so bloody funny it made my stomach hurt, what a way to end such a trainwreck.
Sabu finishing match with an exposed bicep was crazy. Tony probably told Eddie and Chris y'all take it easy out there. We can't afford to lose anyone to injury tonight. I haven't seen so many misses in anything since Nolan Ryan threw his last no-hitter. I was embarrassed as a fan of AEW for AEW. That missed backfist from Kingston looked like a scene from the 3 stooges. Chris breaking his own nose was like instant Karma. I know what's missing in wrestling today. The ability to make shit look real.
@@BB-ed4om When Sabu and Terry Funk did it, it look legitimate, and taking it seriously they were fighting for real and really killing themselves in the barbed wire. This one between Jericho and Kingston along with the one with Omega and Moxley was completely phony and wasn't taking it seriously and continue to make wrestling look stupid and fake.
@@disturbedftw1998 I saw that match live and you’re 100% spot on. You could feel the violence in the air and the legit danger those two were going thru. People don’t realize that the whole crowd stayed for another 45 minutes as the medics cut Funk/Sabu apart. There was a point where Funk almost got his jugular snagged.
Chris Jericho managed to have a worse barbed wire match than Coke Moxley and Sir Kenneth Olivier. How is that even possible? He's worse than the King of Fake Backyarders who can't throw a punch to save his life and a self-taught Rudolf Nureyev wannabe. Amazing! For decades he whined about bookers holding him back and "shackling his creativity", now he's finally free and can be the wrestling genius he always told us he would be if he just had his way. And THIS is the result... Man, those bookers who kept him on a tight leash were on to something!
Jericho thrown into a box of barb wire, into cardboard boxes off top of cage, into a pool of orange juice. Thrown into so much stuff, yet noone gets over.
Everyone tries to recreate ECW's Born to be Wired match of Sabu vs Terry Funk, but they think that more barbed wire means better... AEW needs to just stop with gimmick matches. Too many and they're all terrible.
Tony is desperately trying to get the ratings up. His only successful trick was big star debuts, now there is no one else left. So now most shows are “Special events”, with big gimmick matches. However the rating just keep dropping.
No reason why Jericho should’ve won this. Eddie should’ve won this match to end the feud. It was the perfect set up…barbed wire stretch plum to finish the feud…would’ve been perfect Edit : I actually could’ve forgave the run ins and brawl if it meant Eddie winning at the end. The brawl wasn’t too long
Yeah, that's my biggest issue with this. Wasn't a fan of the gimmick match, but I guess I could understand it given how long the feud has been (and that they've already had a standard singles match). But why in the hell did Jericho win?
Eddie has no star power as a wrestler. He is a great talker. It made sense to make Jericho win here because I'm assuming the next feud will be JAS vs BCC.
I am an AEW fan. I like a lot of things they put on TV. But this match was so unbelievably awful, it made me embarrassed to be a fan, and I haven't started listening yet, but whatever Jim says about it, it deserves all of it.

@CodeWeb No, it wasn’t. It was a garbage, indie-styled display of sadomasochism. There was nothing “professional” or “entertaining” about it, nor was it wrestling or sports. nah shitstain wouldn't book this. Remember he booked an "Electified cage match" where it was simulated by flickering lights & the wrestlers having to act like they "were getting electricuted"
From what I know, Jim doesn't mind Gresham, in ring wise. Maybe he comes across more like he's performing than fighting, but he's not playing around. Jim doesn't care for him character and mic wise though. Also, since he went up against Claudio, I'd think Corny might be harder on him.
Chris Jericho has totally destroyed his legacy in AEW, and it's nobody elses fault either, it's all on him due to egotism, that big head disease, that Chris Jericho has had for 20 plus years now.....

Chris Jericho is so desperate to be Sabu with these "hardcore" barbed wire matches. Except Sabu, during a barbed wire match nearly had his bicep completely ripped off his arm by a barbed wire rope but he taped it back on and continued wrestling.
Why would you want to be Sabu when you're already more famous and successful than Sabu? That's like Steph Curry saying he wants to be like JaVale McGee. (Just to be clear I'm calling Jericho an idiot, not you OP.)
It was a mere atrocity, saturated with botches, interferences, and bland outlaw wrestling! Kingston is palatable on the mic, but his physique is another story! Overall, a really poor main event that hardly anyone can benefit from! Jellycho needs to retire!
I disagree with you that Kingston's palatable on the mic. The only thing he was good at was sounding like a tough, blue collar guy on the mic. Then being the dumbass that he is, Kingston complained about body shamers, which is the equivalent of admitting he's a fake tough guy not to be taken seriously.

Legend has it that, Tay Conti is still trying to open the padlock. For a second, I thought AEW can't become any worse than it has been for a while now...but this show proved that it can. It got me more excited for Shark Week than to tune in next week for Dynamite or Friday for Rampage.
@@DrSpoculus it's embarrassing because it was dogshit. Which is the overwhelming consensus towards this rubbish match. There's always going to be a few that defend this crap, that are in the vast minority, that clearly have the lowest of standards.
This is why AEW desperately needs a quality control guy, that isn’t pals with anyone in the roster, but knows wrestling. If I was quality control, I would have said,”why the fuc* is this shark cage? We HAVE to use it because of a shark week promotion? Ok, we’ll wrap barbwire around it so it’s not obvious people can get out.
This match shows everyone on how self-absorbed and ignorant Jericho is in AEW. Rather that getting talents over, like he said he does in his Inside The Ropes Interview. He literally either slow their momentum or buried them to get himself over. I hate the fact that Jericho later on goes to do interviews and not only exposing the business saying, “We work together” despite being enemies on screen. But explaining how brilliant the feud was, even though it wasn’t. Jericho in AEW shows everybody that this verison of Jericho isn’t the Jericho from WCW or WWE that was helping talents getting over. But rather Middle-Life Crisis Jericho that taking role of Hulk Hogan in TNA, back in 2010s.
Lastly, this is problem with AEW is that people can’t take criticism. Like I prefer to watch AEW over WWE cause of guys like MJF, Punk, and FTR. But literally AEW can’t take criticism without getting butt hurt about it, from Tony, Omega, Bucks, and rest of their friends in the indies that can’t take criticism. This is why I enjoy Jim Podcast cause he points out all the flaws and real GOOD stuff of pro-wrestling rather than “GOOD” stuffs that internet marks claimed to be, since Twinkle Toes and Hardly Boyz said so.
@@mursuka80 Except he didn't have a choice in WWE. And he still bitches on his podcast about putting over Fandango that one WrestleMania. Can't say I'm really surprised that given the choice, he doesn't want to put anyone over. Jericho is all about protecting his "rockstar brand" at the expense of AEW.
I want Sabu to fly to Amarillo, sit with Terry funk, and do a reaction video to the match. And compare the end of born to be wired where they had to be separated in the giant ball, to jericho taking minutes to be freed while whimpering from the sparsely covered board. Just to give giddy marks some perspective on what having barbed wire everewhere really looks like.
The minute they slipped through the bars I turned to my other half and said "Cornette will have a stroke". Absolutely amazing that the AEW fans think this shit is good.
At one point in the first few months of AEW when Jericho was champion there was legit talk of him being one of if not the best of all time with all the gimmicks he had gotten over and how well he did reinventing himself. Now, he's pretty much washed all that away.
Nah I read a long long thread on reddit the other day. The AEW fans still champion this idea. They were all throwing flowers at him and debating if he was the GOAT. Stunning, really.
He was never considered THE best to my knowledge but was up there for longevity and recreating his character but the last few years have just shit all over his legacy tbh. His personality as well just seems to have an ego in overdrive and thinking he is THE GREATEST EVER 🤣🤣🤣🤣 got a better chance of singing for AC/DC then that to ever been considered
When I saw Ruby sitting at ringside with the control for the cage, I knew things would go downhill. And man, did they outdo themselves with nonsensical run-ins and chaos in the middle of a gimmick match. Sammy not being out there was a dead give-away, but when Tai came out to jump Ruby, and then Anna Jay came out and did a heel turn, it became even more of a clown car.
I got really depressed watching the replay of this. What made it worse was all the comments online about how great this was and how great Chris looked for doing this match and how much he has sacrificed for the business...
@@EliC09 yea kinda crazy you can't really say anything not positive or they jump on you and bring up a wwe segment from years ago comparing it like that justifies it
I really can't decide what I like best about this classic for the ages... Jericho blading in full view of the entire planet (again-again), Jericho breaking his own nose like a meth'd-out backyarder in his first match, Jericho blatantly putting his arm through the barbed wire loop so Kingston could "choke" him better? Tay Conti viciously punching her own hand on Ruby Soho's shoulder, Tay viciously punching air molecules away from her opponent, Ruby punching with an "injured" hand, Tay Conti fumbling around with the padlock for a million years, the Jericoque-suckers just casually squeezing themselves through the bars of the cage sideways with zero difficulties? Or Kingston's Backfist of Doom? So many nuggets to pick from in this turd. It was a Bountiful Barbed-Wire Bollocks Botch Buffet. One more thing, the next time Tony's tykes run their mouths about "fat '80s Southern wrestlers that looked like crap", just show them a picture of Eddie Kingston. Bobby Eaton looked like Lex Luger in comparison.
Heck, just show them some Jeribloat pictures. Jeribloat’s pants don’t have a waistline, they have a coast line. Every time Jerikishi blades, bubbly and Ragu pour out. Way2Fat once rented a cruise ship for himself which capsized from over loading.
At this point I think Jericho egotistically does what he knows Jim will complain about not realizing it’s actually hurting his legacy more than agitating Jim. What else can explain an international high profile star being put in so many amateurish situations???
I've notice that AEW have been badly booking ever since Cody left, It's like that Cody was the one always tell Tony if his booking was garbage and keep Tony in check. Now that Cody left, there's nobody backstage that tell Tony otherwise about his garbage booking.
This match reminded me so much of the 2004 to 2007 era of me anticipating reading the spoilers for TNA shows. Id click on the spoilers just to see how many random gimmick matches in ONE show they could throw in. You'd get a reverse battle royal, an electrocuted cage match, a no dq casket on a pole match, a burning ladder match and a 16 man X division escape to the moon match.
I can't wait for Corny's review of FTR vs Briscoes 2 out of 3 falls. I bet he might even criticize Moxley because they showed how to do a wild out brawl that was getting out of hand.
I've seen kids taking in these barbed wire matches which I really don't care for because all you're doing is maiming yourself and your opponent just so you can get kicks from it. You never saw Undertaker, Kane, John Cena, Randy Orton, Eddie Gurrero, or HHH doing shit like that because what's the point? There's no story to be told other than it's violence in a ring versus having a couple little barbed wire things to create intrigue in a no holds barred match.
I skipped this match but I have to watch it once I hear the whole "Jericho broke his own nose on a Codebreaker". How in the hell they botch this match so much? Not even Robocop saving Sting from the cage look this bad.
If Jim's video starts with him commenting, "Uuuggghh, you wanna get to the main event that really didn't have any heat except with the boys in the locker room and anybody who cares about the wrestling business?" then you know you're in for a treat. :D

Ram Jam, Ram Jam, Ram Jam!
Jericho peaked in his 2017 stint with Owens.
2008 was his finest year.
Jericho has been awful since he lost the AEW title, and that's a shame considering how great he was at one point
Past greatness just makes it worse when once great performers have lost their mojo, because it just serves to remind fans of how far the guy has fallen. I mean, I saw once match where an aged, injured Dynamite Kid had a throw back match with Tiger Mask. Its pretty heart breaking.
Yup, best point made by @owl….indeed Jericho hasn’t been good since he lost the AEW title ! 🙄🤷🏻♂️
Ehh last time i saw some decent Jericho matches was in NJPW, but thats probably cuz the Japanese talent carried Jericho hard in-ring work wise.
when they turned and walked out through the bars I actually laughed out loud 😂🤣 this match was like watching a train wreck in slow motion......
All I could think of was the Roger Rabbit scene when he was able to get out of the handcuffs at any time..."Not just any time, Only when it was funny!"
I couldn't believe I saw that as it was happening. So fucking embarrassing.
Chris Jericho has become everything or anyone he criticized in his books. He’s the Bulldog Bob Brown of the modern era but with a crappy band.

One of the worst matches ever to cap off one of the worst Dynamites ever. A massive achievement in it’s own right
Hi Don Stevens
Tony Khan will tell you this was the greatest dynamite ever
It’s been so bad lately that every consecutive episode is becoming the worst ever till next week. Some good matches within the confines of a programme that is 2000 WCW bad atm
Only to go up from here. Lol
Honestly, you’d hope so. The last 7 months have made the era with Omega as champion look like ‘85 JCP or ‘02 SmackDown
I never thought listening to someone describe a match would be far, far more entertaining than watching it🤣🤣
Welcome to the cult young man
Is this your first time? Congratulations haha.
Lucky you, all Jim's stuff will be fresh for ya. Go check out his backlog. You'll legit find yourself wanting to go back and watch the crappy matches he's talking about
My thoughts:
1) It's weird that I have never heard Jim Cornette trash Mick Foley, Terry Funk, The Sheik, Dory Funk Sr., Dusty Rhodes, etc. This is not the first barbed wire match and it won't be the last.
2) Do I have a problem with a Barbed Wire Match being done. Absolutely not. Do I think you should give away a Barbed Wire Match on free television? No, I don't think you should. Make people pay to see that. Rule of thumb should be: Texas Deathmatches, Barbed Wire Matches, & Exploding Barbed Wired Deathmatches (Like Onita & Funk), Should strictly be on PPV. You can give away any other gimmick match for national television, Whether it's a ladder match, cage match, first blood match, submission match, etc. But the three above that, Should be PPV specials only.
3) Do I think you should book gimmick matches every week. Absolutely not. Gimmick matches should be used for one of two reasons. It needs to be either the blow off match for the feud, or it needs have some prize stipulations, Where there is something major to be gained by winning it. Example: Money In The Bank Ladder Match, The Royal Rumble, Torneo Cibernetico, etc. By winning the match, You earned a major prize. No different then having a tournament.
4) Was this Barbwire Match overbooked? Yes. Too many moving pieces involved and the Anna Jay turn at the end, I thought was a bad move.I probably would have inserted her into the Jungle Boy & Christian Cage storyline, After Luchasaurus pulls what Mark Henry did to John Cena years ago. Then she tries to stop a beatdown on Jungle Boy and she's is inserted into the program as Jungle Boy's valet and he now has some stakes on the line. This way down the road, You could have did Jungle Boy & Anna Jay vs Sammy Guevara & Tay Conti. Too late now I guess. It made no sense. If they were gonna add anyone new to the JAS, I probably would have went with Griff Garrison. Due to Guevara's friendship with him, His resemblance to a young Jericho and having the tools needed potentially get over down the road, But may need some direction.
5) Tony Khan & The Wrestlers need to start telling the director in the truck, Whenever there is a blade spot, When the spot is happening and where it is happening, So they can avoid the d*mn camera angle. It almost seems like they are trying to do it on purpose.
6) Jim is saying that USA Network & FOX Network wouldn't want anything to do with a product like AEW's, With the blood & cussing, When they are in fact PUSHING WWE to be edgier. There has been a active push for that behind the scenes, At those two networks.
7) Next time you do a Barbwire Match, Leave out the "Barbwire Everywhere". The damn philosophy & psychology of the Barbwire Match, As invented & intended by the old schoolers, Wasn't to have barbwire everywhere, So the wrestlers can do spots & take bumps in. The psychology was meant for building up tension by TRYING TO AVOID THE BARBWIRE. The same thing was applicable for Atsushi Onita's "Exploding Barbwire Deathmatches". The focus is on trying to AVOID IT, Until the right time for the couple of spots, That ENDS THE MATCH. I appreciate the effort though. I would have produced it different but I appreciate the effort.

Tay Conti not being able to open the cage door made me laugh 😂😂😂😂. Nobody thought to check the key and lock before the show?
She should have at least practiced a couple times beforehand
Didn’t she have trouble sliding a bottle into a cage last time too? It’s a rib at this point 😂

Also the end was the funniest part ever: the "FUCK! GODDAMMIT!" when Kingstone whiffed the backhand thanks to Sammy just suckerpunching Jericho out of the blue was so bloody funny it made my stomach hurt, what a way to end such a trainwreck.
Kingston SERIOUSLY sucks
Sammy and Tay Conti being excluded from the shark tank cage was the biggest hole in the match!

Sabu and Terry Funk are shaking their heads from embarrassment from this match.
They did the same kind of crap
@@BB-ed4om When Sabu and Terry Funk did it, it look legitimate, and taking it seriously they were fighting for real and really killing themselves in the barbed wire. @@disturbedftw1998 I saw that match live and you’re 100% spot on. You could feel the violence in the air and the legit danger those two were going thru.

Probably one of if not the worst Dynamite main event ever

When I saw Danny Garcia slide through the bars of the cage I burst out laughing and said out loud this is going to drive Cornette crazy.

I'm surprised nobody is noticing that everything Kingston has been involved in (physically) has been equally as terrible as this was.
Most people aren't paying attention to the technical details. Kingston is way too stiff and it shows in a lot of his spots.
His first match with Jericho like a year ago was really good. Even cornette praised it. Just a regular old match.
I dunno man vs Miro, vs Punk, vs Jericho 1, vs Bryan were all very good matches imo.
Agree, Kingston is way overrated. That dude can talk but…that’s about it
No reason why Jericho should’ve won this. Eddie should’ve won this match to end the feud. It was the perfect set up…barbed wire stretch plum to finish the feud…would’ve been perfect
Edit : I actually could’ve forgave the run ins and brawl if it meant Eddie winning at the end. The brawl wasn’t too long
Yeah, that's my biggest issue with this.
Wasn't a fan of the gimmick match, but I guess I could understand it given how long the feud has been (and that they've already had a standard singles match).
But why in the hell did Jericho win?
For me I thought that Eddie MIGHT win until that cage botch and then said hell with it. Jericho will win
Eddie has no star power as a wrestler. He is a great talker. It made sense to make Jericho win here because I'm assuming the next feud will be JAS vs BCC.
I was waiting for Cornette’s take on this!!
This made my week!
I am an AEW fan. I like a lot of things they put on TV. But this match was so unbelievably awful, it made me embarrassed to be a fan, and I haven't started listening yet, but whatever Jim says about it, it deserves all of it.

Jericho going over made as much sense as this match

Yeah especially after being hit with everything through barbed wire.

It's not a dead ending to a match. It's called long term matchmaking.
Chris Jericho is so desperate to be Sabu with these "hardcore" barbed wire matches. Except Sabu, during a barbed wire match nearly had his bicep completely ripped off his arm by a barbed wire rope but he taped it back on and continued wrestling.
Chris Jericho was offered a spot in both Metallica and The Rolling Stones, but he turned them both down.

I disagree with you that Kingston's palatable on the mic. The only thing he was good at was sounding like a tough, blue collar guy on the mic.
It is weird how in WWE he had no problem put people over and in AEW he has become like Hogan in WCW.

Now I'm waiting on Jericho to say if we didn't like this match we don't love wrestling. 😂😂😂😂😂😂

So excited to listen to this, I've liked the video after the first 9 seconds LMAO
In a sentence, we can say... Jericho has forgotten his steps to success and his becoming Hulk Hogan Lite...
I just don't want him to ruin AEW preventing from getting the next TV deal
Tony will probably bring him along for the negotiations, so he can blade right in front of the TV execs and bleed to death on the conference table. With all that botox in his forehead he couldn't feel where he was going and hit an artery. Ooopsie!
That wouldn’t be Jericho’s fault, that would be TK’s, he does have the final say on what happens…as he loves to tell EVERYONE
Without being controlled by Vince McMahon, Chris Jericho is a nightmare
When they blade in aew they could at least TRY to make it a little less obvious.
That requires professionalism.
I thought the worst chair shot in WCW was Horace Hogan.
ROFL this this great episode!! Thank you Jim 😂🤣
You said it Jimmy I looked at my 13 yr old son when Conti ran out to the cage I said she will not be smart enough to open that padlock. 🤣
too chubby middle aged men mutilating themselves for no reason, no thanks.
Really funny when the gimp squad just slid sideways out of the cage 😂
I can't believe Corny hasn't mentioned Tay Conti's pathetic excuses for punches when she had Ruby Soho on the floor. In a total embarrassment of a match that was probably the worst, my lord they looked abysmal
I never thought I wouldn’t want to see Tay Conti on top of Ruby Soho, but here we are.
