Love your reviews. I own an M240i x cab. . .In sport mode I’m always amazed that the pressure on the brake petal dictates the very cool downshifts so I am ready to jump when I hit the gas. .. . Really very cool. . But ugh. . .I love that 850. .
It's an amazing GT car in person just messing with it at my dealership was impressive and the interior felt special
eh... I disagree there. BMW interiors aren't unique across their entire model range, aside from a few subtleties. They look great inside- subdued but modern, not overstyled (like mercedes), though they wear poorly over time. They do have the best infotainment in the industry. BMW pretty much puts all their engineering into performance, which is fine, but they don't have special interiors across their range; they're all pretty much copy paste. Lexus has mediocre performance but their interiors feel much more special... but are also dated with a shit infotainment.
I saw a convertible in dark blue yesterday. What a beautiful car!

Engine stop/start can be programmed to stay off. I’ve had 3 of these 2012, 2013 and now 2915 M650ix. So glad it’s just a name change to 850 and refresh to position it to where it’s always been... the most expensive BMW.

@@robb5516 Rob, please for the love of god never call your 650i an "M650ix". That's not a thing, that never was a thing. You are a boomer. You have an M-Sport trim package on a regular 650i. There is no such thing as an M650i.

The 6 series was always more expensive than the 7, always. An 8 series was produced 20+ years ago that was more, put only for a few years when there was no 6. Now the badge of the 6 is now an 8 as it’s always been the most expensive. And yes dear the 650ix with the M package which adds steering input, gearing input, exhaust input, added gauges, increased speed, bigger tires and brakes, different wheels, and exterior body panel changes, is in-fact what an M850 is exactly. And yes, my car, chassis and engine all have factory M badges.

Yeah exactly what I thought! It's like a really, really expensive, slightly melted looking German Mustang. Definitely not a patch on the original 850i design.
I absolutely agree. The front upper & lower grills mimics those of the Mustang. The shape of the side windows & the cars side profile looks like the Ford, too. The Mustang is a good-looking car just as well as the Bimmer. But, for over $100K, I expect more distinctions on the car.

The 8 series is stunning looking car which in Gran Coupe looks even more stunning. The interior design and build quality is fantastic and you feel like you're sitting in something special. It is a real head turner BMW have done a great job creating a special car.

You're going to get attention if you drive this down to the club. It looks the business. Long and flowing. It makes things like the R8, etc. look like toys.

i will say the MPG on this is much better than my M5 getting a average 12MPG while having the same engine almost (but with 600hp)

Great review!! I wish the 7 series and the M 7 Series would take some styling cues from the M850. You don't need to make the kidney grill SO large to look cool!!!
Edited: If I was looking for a GT 2D Coupe, it would be between this and a Bentley Continental GT.
Edit (again): I would add the Mercedes AMG GT or GT 63S and Porsche Panamera Executive to the GT 2D (or 4D) Coupe list

I love your channel, I am buying another car and I have a question for you, which would you choose the Corvette C8 Z51, BMW M850i, or BMW M8? And Why? I would love to get C8 Z06 but it hard to get an order anytime soon so I'm looking to get one of the above that I mentioned.
I wanted an 850i way back in high school. Turns out I still do.
I have a BMW M850 XDrive. Year 2019. After purchase, everything worked. I went for chip tuning and popcorn making. Then I went to a mechanic who replaced the battery in the front of my car (technical) and did some digging because I wanted to have a BMW Me. Car from the USA and he came to the conclusion that he wouldn't do it. I picked up the car, the radio was Sirus (America), it was impossible to change the time, it was New York. I did a reset from the panel in the car. But what's most interesting. Previously, I had a different car sound with eco and switching to sport+. Now I don't feel any difference when starting the car. And there was a different characterization. The flaps open. and they are open all the time. Tuning has been undone. I called the dealership and they said that the flaps should open in comfort and sport+ modes. However, they are still open. The guy who previously converted from the US to the EU accessed my car remotely and doesn't know what could be wrong. I have a cable for remote connection.
the steering wheel also behaves similarly in all modes.
I have the impression that the car is in sport mode. Changing to comfort and eco does not cause any difference in the behavior of the car and the steering wheel works just as hard.
The only difference is in sport+, where the car actually revs higher.
I've read that people have various problems after replacing the battery. technical, but I haven't read about a case like mine anywhere.
Please help.

Its interesting that the BMW M850i, i8, and Acura NSX are all quite dashing and so different, yet miss the mark in similar ways. When you have 100k to 150k to spend, you do not want a Mercedes C class, Audi A3, BMW 2 series, nor Acura TLX interior. So when put these two up next to the Mercedes Benz AMG GTR, Audi R8, Aston Martin Vantage, and Porsche 911 you start to wonder "why the heck do I feel so slow? And why does my luxury halo car interior feel cheap all of a sudden?"
It's the "less auspicious" option.
