Outstanding! I looked everywhere online for a manual for the ILBE prior to filming my video and found nothing. Unfortunately, I also knew no one that had been a Marine and used one. Thank you very much for setting the ILBE community straight on the correct way to mount the Assault Pack! This is much appreciated!
This is awesome i keep a pair of these as bugout bags, and parts of it are ah absolute mistery to me. I want to find that large beaver tail bc i live sticking grab and go molle packs on there. Lol
This is the worlds best backpack. I've owned it for 10 years now. It can hold anything, in multiple ways. You can literally strap a chainsaw to it. Blows away anything from anybody. Heavy duty heaven.
Thank you so much for this. You have no idea how much this helped with p long for a very long trip because I couldn’t afford 50 bucks a price per sustainment pouch but I’d this handy. Thanks again brother.
Just got my main pack and this video was very helpful in showing clearly how to attach the assault pack to the main pack. Thanks a lot man. Awesome cat also.
I got the ILBE and Assault pack a few years ago and have wanted to use it instead of my old Large Alice for my winter camping/Bushcraft. Thanks for a great tutorial!
There were some complaints about the bottom of the pack being easy to rip or tear due to the cordura being 750 instead of the 1000 typically used in military packs. It does feel like the material is thin for use on the bottom. I got a radio pouch and took out all of the threaded seams with a seam ripper. I placed the largest section of the pouch material over the exterior of the bottom of the pack and traced out the bottom area. I then cut out the traced area from the pouch material which created a large patch. Then I applied a seam sealer (patch repair) over the inner side of the patch material and placed the patch on the exterior bottom of the pack. Thus, creating a double layer on the bottom of the pack. It helps to stuff the bottom of the pack in order to keep wrinkles out while doing this modification.
Hey- question. i have this funny little cunchable pou h attached to mine that. I cant find much use for besides trash it mid sized eqt stowage- theres large gaps in the bottom corners. Anybody seen/know what this is for?
I was playing with my ILEB and ASSAULT pack last night and dang there are a lot of combinations that can be used to attach the AP to the main pack. So, you just fixed my head so it doesn't spin anymore! Thanks a lot. ps might want to get a large recon beaver tail....any suggestions as to where to find one?
After watching your other ILBE videos I realized I was fortunate enough to have gotten the recon ILBE! Picked it up in a trade and didn't even know what I had! Any idea where to get that beaver tail? mine didn't come with it. Great videos and Semper Fi!
I can not for the life of me find that recon beaver tail anywhere. I really like this pack that would make a great addition but unfortunately it's Uber rare I can't even find it on ebay 😢
not sure, sorry. i know they both use 4 fastex buckles to attach. i would thinnk you could make it work. go to boonedockery's youtube channel. i believe he has both setups.

Thank you for share the correct way to connect the two packs together
In impressed you did that one handed with no pinchies! lol
Do it the way the Corp intended! 😁
Don’t forget you can’t put the camel pack bladder in the assault pack as well.

Thanks for sharing!
I was in the corp and they never showed us how to attach the water pack. Could you show that?

yeah they're rarer than an honest politician. I found one from a surplus dealer who had a very small quantity probably 2 years ago. Brand new $40.00
Do you know where you could buy a beaver tail from? I have been looking and can't find it anywhere.
And now some of you have a much better understanding as to how Strapzillagot its name... lol
Kitty ❤
Does anyone know if the new FILBE assault bag is compatible with the Gen2 ILBE main bag?
