  • Almost everyone in Germany is convinced that racism is a problem here, according to recent studies. Everyday racism manifests itself not only in physical acts of violence and verbal attacks. People who clearly have a migrant background also experience discrimination at school, in sports clubs or when looking for housing. A number of organizations exist for people who have experienced discrimination and want advice.

Context on "going clubbing with his friends"? I was in Germany and something that I noticed in every city when going to parties, is that security tend to turn down groups of more than 3 males, specially when it's clear tha they've been drinking, and that my friends, is to protect the women. I work right now with two men that lived in Germany for more than 10 years, and they said the most racism they experienced was from second generation immigrants, specially turkish.

Germans are covert racists. They will never reveal even if they are racists to the core. Still about a third of Germans would be actually racists.
But the Eastern Europeans are shameless racists. They would torment such African origin people at every opportunity. And they are very open and proud about it. They also bring this culture of shameless racism and violence to western Europe.

Its not racism when someone does not like your looks in the modeling business. Its literally a business that is run by looks. No one cries racism if a client says the model is too Scandinavian.

    • @KABSOOLH1

you have no experience in the modelling business and you did not experience racism, yet you mange to make a conclusion out of nothing. you are either a genius or very ignorant and i think it is most likely the last. you see mr ignorant in the modeling business you have agencies that you can sign a contract with and clients that can book you for a session or more such as clothing brands, but if an agency does not even give you the chance to be picked because they don't like your skin colour that's called discrimination and it is immoral and forbidden by law. But yet many people think racism is individual and not structural because they make the same mistake like you made here, which is coming up with conclusion without any any knowledge while scientists, researchers, investigators...etc spend time, money energy to try to find out whether racism is a systematic problem than comes a very ignorant lazy person like you to conclude that 'its not' based on 0 evidence. Civilization most dangerous problem and the source of most of them is ignorance. It is uncurable, no truth, logic or knowledge can fix it.

You are DELUSIONAL! As an American, I lived in Lüneburg for some time. Traveled all around Germany. There's plenty of racism...
Europe compared to the United States in terms of racism is night and day. It felt like Europeans, for the most part, were living 100 years in the past.
I will say, though, that the young Germans, for the most part, were absolutely pleasant and so fun to hang out with!! I never realized just how inclusive and progressed the U.S. is until I really LIVED in europe instead of visiting for a week here or there....
I know the media makes it seem really bad. But from living in Europe and being American. Europe is like over a hundred years in the past when it comes to the integration of others. No wonder so many Europeans countries are in decline in some way or the other.
Europeans would rather live and die with whites. Then, live and prosper with other peoples of this world.

It is not just the color of your skin. It is often your accent. It is practically impossible to find an appartment or house in a good neibourhood without a perfect German accent. And a further injustice is the way job applications are done. There are a lot of ways to eliminate your application when you have to add a photo and a German perfect letter to explain why you think this job is up your alley. You get practically zero chances to make a personal impression and as an immigrant you lack the social networking a native German has. Non Germans end up in badly paid jobs and in urban areas that are far from their places of work.

I think those living in a culture that is different to their ethnic origin will always feel some isolation. Unfortunately, racism is part of human nature. It is not only a European issue. Europeans living in other cultures also face prejudice, and I think that needs to be understood. It is natural to find closeness within ones own ethnic group. I think that is a tribal instinct amongst all peoples. In short, it will never be eliminated and can only be managed. Lastly, a model complaining about being judged on their appearance is probably pursuing the wrong career.

Looks based, superficial industry... It's hard to say if rejection is based on race or they just don't find you attractive or distinct enough to model their brand. There's some very successful African models in Europe so I don't know.

Germany is a mainly white country, for now. And people look for models for certain things. Have nothing to do with racism, its just the clients wants a certain look and he wasent it. Maybe he should stop acting like a victim and look for work elsewhere or change carer.

The narrative is misleading and german media tends to imitate american media. They even would show native americans as victims in germany if there were some. There are hardly any africans in germany but millions of turkish.
In fact the largest group by far that experiences racism is the turkish community that was actively brought to germany as guestworkers. Even german/russians who came after 1990 experience some racism. To have a realistic impression, the clip should have interviewed 5 Turkish, 2 arab, 1 african and 1 romani

How? I dunno dude, colour aside, If you have your friends and they tell you its absolute no go, to go clubbing... on what pretense? There has to be something seriously wrong somewhere and that's really not good, especially from inside Germany.
Walls between people, in the minds.
People of all faiths and cultures are pretty decent as long as you have a small modicum of respect for where you are, that has to work both ways.
So don't go clubbing in Germany, do what this humble Englishman would and hit the beer halls instead.

1:55 "Anyone with a different skin colour or wearing a head scarf will experience racism sooner or later..."
The Cambridge Dictionary says: "Race is the idea that people can be divided into groups of physical characteristcs." Now, I wonder if a head scarf is as much a physical characteristic as colour of skin? Or can it be that a head scarf is rather the expression of a religious conviction? No one has any influence on skin colour. It says absolutely nothing about a person.
But a conviction or belief? That's different. It must be allowed to be critical of any conviction, including a religious one. I think by insisting on calling religious intolerance, racism, we trivialize the term. It's just not the same thing.
