Standing on a dirt bike CAN give you more control, especially if you're a trail rider, but I see a lot of trail riders not using proper standing techniques.
That's why, in this video, I'm going to reveal 3 common dirt bike beginner mistakes when it comes to your body position so that you can know how to stand up while riding a dirt bike without feeling awkward, cramped, or out of control.
Motocross Hideout is my personal brand to help new riders learn to properly and safely ride a dirt bike so that you don't crash and miss out on life because of an injury. My Virtual Dirt Biker School is an online riding course/camp that teaches anyone new to dirt bikes the basic techniques to stay in control and become a better rider faster. I've taught many first-time riders over the years, both guys and girls, young and old.

Thank you for this video
You're welcome - thanks for watching :)
Lowered pegs and higher bars helped me ! I’m 6,1 got tall as fuck legs
Nice. Tall bars can definitely open up the cockpit and help as long as they don't shift your body too far back to an unbalanced riding position that causes the front-end to slide out more easily. Thanks for watching and sharing, Adam!
I feel like your making these videos specifically for me haha. Thanks!!!
Haha, I'm just going through a lot of topics that I hear people like you are struggling with or want to improve on - thanks for watching!
Kickass video
I’ve got almost 40 years street bike experience, but just bought my first dirt bike. Standing feels so weird to me.
Congrats on your first dirt bike! Yep, it's definitely a different feeling. Is there anything specifically that makes it feel weird?
@@MotocrossHideout I keep trying to remember my BMX days where standing was normal, but so many years on a Harley, some with forward controls where standing is not an option makes it seem foreign. It does feel like I’m a little tall on the bike, but that’s probably position like you said. I also expect the rear tire to slide but it just digs in and bites. It really is different than a street bike. I ride a 900 pound Harley like a manic, but this dirt bike has humbled me and my so called skills. 🤣
Okay, gotcha, yeah that makes sense.
So are you saying that it can be hard to control the throttle due to the acceleration in the dirt?
@@MotocrossHideout Nah I’m ok on the throttle, it’s just a different discipline. I’m having a blast figuring it out. Bought the KLX230, so it’s not too snappy. I guess what feels weird about standing is how pressure on the pegs affects the bikes direction.
Okay, nice, yeah the KLX230 is a great bike to learn on.
What exactly have you noticed about pressure on the pegs so far?
How tall are you? Cuz I’m 6 ft tand 250 pounds. And I’m looking for that crf 250f. But sometime I think could be small for me.
5'6" and the CRF250F still feels a little big compared to my 230. There are plenty of guys over 6' riding the CRF250F. If you want to raise the seat height, you can check out Hyperlite Moto for some fork and shock mods.
I’m back
Always on YT, eh?
