Had this for over two years! small and mobile! Best thing I ever bought for sure! I use a rib rack stand. I can fit and smoke 6 half racks of St. Louis cut ribs. chef kisses my guy
My home made barrel that I sent you pictures of, hanging baby backs ribs takes about a hour with no wrap just 15min rest before eating! I do marinade the ribs over night. And they turn out perfect!!
Hi Tom, have you had any issues with smoke in the hopper. I brought one yesterday and doing a cook today. Have had smoke from the hopper the whole 2.5 hours so far. The pellets are breaking down in the hopper with the heat. I testing and did the original burn as per the instructions. Had foil like yours but removed it as after an 1/2 hours the lid was still ok to hold hand on.
I have one that doesn't pulsate. Different color top. Had it for a few years now. I wonder if that was a design feature in later models to help add more smoke flavor?
i was told the pulsating was normal, and also after it’s level to lift the hopper side up about 1/4 inch to make sure the pellets flow away from the igniter so it won’t cause a burn back do to a short auger
i’ve only used mine once to cook some chicken, i didn’t raise it either and had no problem it was just suggested to me from a facebook group, my cousin uses one at his camp site and hasn’t had an issue and loves his
I have the black Louisiana Grills version. Pretty good products coming out of Danson. It’s about the size of the masterbuilt portable that you have, minus cart. That one is P.I.D but I feel like your pit boss version held temps a little better lol
Thanks for Watching! Not sure what to tell you on the PID, They dont advertise it as being PID so that tells me it isnt. However, after about 45-60 minutes it did dial itself in nicely.
Pit boss is the best bang for the buck brand, the only one that can even compare in the budget category is treager and they charge way to much, but if you are going super high end then I would recommend recteq, yoder smokers, and lone star grills
That pulsating would really get to me after awhile, especially using it while camping. Wonder if there's a mod? Also total aside - that controller they're using is a modified version of the "Chefood" controller available on Amazon years ago (one of the first/only PID controllers you could pick up CHEAP - but worked VERY well!) They've since disappeared from Amazon and the STORY I heard was that Z-Grills purchased them/the technology which now exists in their current line of PID controllers. But the one pictured here on the pitboss is CLEARLY the same unit, down to the LED's, font, everything. So now I'm confused LOL. Perhaps you know the history/background Tom and can fill us in??
I purchased this unit a few months ago and used it about five times cleaning it out after each use. I just used it to cook a pork butt and after about eight hour it over heated and damaged itself. Pit Boss will not stand behind their product to replace it. The customer service agent refused to transfer me to a supervisor. This is a terrible company with terrible customer service. This is not a safe grill.

Thanks for Watching! Never had smoke in the hopper
And also I use a pit boss lexington and it is $297 at Walmart and it is awesome, just wish it had 275 as a temp
Hey Tom I just bought this grill and at lower temps (below 350) it pulsates all the time. Did yours ever stop pulsating?
Thanks for watching! The pulsating is the fan maintaining lower temps. It’s normal
Asmoke extended lid will fit with a little modification to the hinge location.
Thanks for Watching! Lol, already was looking at that, It’s a little smaller too, I will try and swap, but don’t know if it will fit. Thanks
I’m sure they tasted good but were they a little dry, I didn’t see any juices coming out.
lol, Thanks for watching!

Thanks for Watching! Not sure if it’s a new feature
I have that put boss and a Yoder pellet grill both fans pulsate on lower temps

Thanks for Watching! Uhhhh,, not sure what 1/4” you are talking about with the auger? Please explain
@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ Some suggest elevating the hopper side of the grill slightly. I haven't had any issues.
Ok, now I understand, Thanks

Mighty fine looking ribs Tom! Not sure about that pulsing fan noise. Temp control seemed good. All in all...pretty nice! Cheers!
Thanks for Watching Jay! It pulses up to 300, after that just straight fan
Pitboss seems like a great product and produces some good BBQ from many videos I've seen Tom. These ribs made me hungry!!!!
Thanks for Watching! They were very good!

Hey Tom, I told you that little smoker needed some love. The pulsating fan is normal. Great video..!
Thanks for Watching Mike!
How was the smoke flavor on them?
Thanks for Watching Lee! Smoke profile was medium smoke
How is this thing fueled I can figure it out gas or what
Thanks for watching! Wood pellets
Doesn’t have a bunch of bells and whistles, but I can’t argue with the price and performance.
Agreed! Thanks for Watching Ted!
Nice cook Tom 😃
Thanks Eric! Appreciate you Watching and supporting!

Thanks for Watching! You know more than I about this controller,,,, they don’t advertise it as PID, usually when it is PID they say that it is.
I know who I want too park next to, at the Packers Game.
Thanks for Watching John!
