I’m 5’9”. There’s not ONE functional FULL SIZED work truck on the market PERIOD. Unless you play for the NBA ! You can’t reach a tool. They’ve made trucks so tall they have had to put built in ladders on them. How about a functional work height truck bed? How about a Ranger with an 8’ bed?? A work truck doesn’t have to be a big rig.

This with fill a niche in Australia, between mid size to 1500 sized trucks. All American trucks undergo a significant engineering and conversion process when the arrive in Australia which adds significant costs and 1500 sized trucks don't have the payload.
And in Australia most carparks ,garages, drive thrus dont suit full sized trucks, and most Australians live in cities with limited space. A hd ranger would sell well as mid sized trucks are about the biggest vehicles people will drive here. Hilux and Ranger are the biggest sellers here.

    • @MrTonaluv

This Ranger Super Duty could take a bite out of Toyota sales here in Australia. Not necessarily Hilux but more LandCruiser.

  • @rightwingsafetysquad9872

I like it. Even in America on our giant roads, driving a full size is needlessly cumbersome relative to a mid-size. I hate driving my work truck in cities (a Superduty with Altec servics boxes). An F-150 doesn't fit in my garage, a Ranger does with about 15" to spare.
I wouldn't buy one because I don't need the extra capacity over the normal Ranger. Maybe if I had a camper trailer I'd be interested.

Still want to see one in the US. Makes just as much sense in the US. The current Ranger is as big as the previous generations of the F150. The smaller truck that can do work would be awesome. Was hoping this was the trickle we would start to see about T3.

There are many diesel power choices in the rest of the world in a choice of four basic engines in various specs. There are the old 2.2 four and 3.2 five cylinder engines and the newer 2.0 in single and twin turbo versions plus the 3.0 V6 as was recently available in the US F150 and before that in Jaguar/Land Rover/ Range Rover vehicles. In the UK, only the Raptor has an available option of a V6 gas engine and that is considered to be a rich man’s toy.

@ALMX5DP As said in the video, the spy photos of the Ranger Super Duty has a hub cap over the lugs, but the wheel has 6 holes in the metal, which normally means a lug between each home, therefore the Super Duty should also be a 6 lug.

No market for it here in the US simply due to the fact that it would cost more then an F150. The chart data in the video display shows the F150 able to tow up to 3,500 more pounds but you say the Ranger Super Duty will tow as much as an F150? The payload on that truck sounds insane for its size and makes you wonder what the ride quality would feel like when it is empty. Ford still has hundreds of new 2023 F150 inventory in this country on top of 2024's, and now 2025's. I really don't think they need another truck to build and sell currently in the U.S..

Lets be real, it makes a lot of sense for the US CONSUMER as well but as you said it would take from F-150 sales and then Ford would not be able to claim best selling truck when anyone that pays attntion already knows if you count Chevy and GMC 1500 which are the same trucks they outsell the F-150.

F150s in Australia are $100,000-$150000, f350 platinum is towards $300000. Our government puts a lot of tax on these trucks and our dollar is low compared to the usd. A ranger that could carry 2ton like the old f350's in a cab chassis for a flat bed would be awesome, i think it would sell well here in Australia. As another coment said our parking and a lot of places we go are not well suited for the size of the US Trucks, sadly a Big Country that gets devided up into little tiny pieces of land . Love yiur show guys, keep up the good work!!!

Given that you can buy an actual Super Duty f250 xl 4x4 extended cab with the xl and fx4 off road packages for around $54K and a 6.8 and the ranger raptor can be more expensive I shutter to guess at the pricing of the ranger super duty.

Sure, they'll bring it to the US, but they'll F-up the ability to build a useful one. Just like not being able to order towing mirrors on the max tow powerboost. So, you can have the 'Superduty' but you won't be able to spec things like a hitch or brake controller, because...Ford. Or you'll have to pony up for a fully optioned Lariat model and spend more than you would on an F150. (Posted by a happy 2020 Ranger Owner.).
On the other hand, if they did bring it, and let me order it in a fairly basic model, I'd be first in line. Just like I'd be first in line for a PHEV Ranger. Sadly, it looks like I'll just be keeping my 2020 until the wheels fall off.

The 9920lb GVWR makes it heavy enough to be commercially deductible in the US. Thats a BIG deal.

I think the concept of a ranger super duty is appropriate for the Australian market regarding its competition, which, in this case would be predominantly a vehicle, the size of the traditional Nissan Patrol and Toyota Land Cruiser.
Both of which are bigger than the traditional midsize pick up truck but not as fat as the traditional American full-size truck. It is purpose belt for duty and has a simple straightforward form following function design.

It wouldn’t sell as well as people think it would in the US. Even if it had the 3.0 diesel, it’s still slower than the 2.3 ecoboost in the US and the ride would be terrible. Plus, the countries it’s produced for have towing speed limits of 100km/h or lower. So there really isn’t any real appeal when you compare it to our roads, truck options and value.

Here’s my thing, let’s face it, full size trucks are over priced and mid sized is what most people NEED, unless they are working class and pulling large trailers more than “deadheading” or running no load, and the ONLY reason I want a full size truck is the cabin or room inside the cab, I don’t like their fuel economy, and because I enjoy off-roading, most trails will scratch a full size more so than a midsize, and I wish all the auto manufacturers would make the cabin bigger (longer and a few inches taller) since I have a baby, the car seat takes up SO MUCH ROOM! But I like that some trucks are getting their respectable sizes because midsize trucks are more capable than they are rated.

  • @Bluecedor
    @Bluecedor 2 місяці тому

One could make the case that the Ranger Super Duty would come here, because people would gravitate toward a more capable work truck that is smaller and easier to park than an F-150. That said, knowing how many 5-person crews are running around and that they will fit much better in an F-150 than a Ranger (likely only 4-person) indicates that there would be too many parities between a US Ranger SD and F-150 for offering the former to make sense. All the customers coming in to dealers would ask "Why?", and the sales persons - with managers already indisposed to hate interacting with Ford - will just not sell them because everyone knows "F-150" 3X better than "Ranger".
The Ranger SD makes a (extra ton) more sense in AU.

Probably investing in ranger upgrade rather than F150 because:
    1. The main market the ranger is aimed at is Right Hand Drive.
    2. Most people in Australia etc, can't afford an F150 250 350 due to RHD Conversion costs.
    3. Australian Drivers License weight limit category's don't match America.
    4. In America buying a F150 and above is more realistically affordable.
In my opinion the LR license weights should be covered under the car license. I would be more concerned with licensing people to tow 2 tone or over as their is more likely hood they will become unstuck due to ignorance of what creates trailer sway, extra stopping distance etc.
If we could have relative American vehicle pricing and licensing, I'd prefer to see:
    Payload Tow
    Ranger 1 tone 2.5 tone
    F150 1.5 tone 3.5 tone
    F250 2 tone 4.5 tone
    F350 2.5 / 3 tone 5.5 tone
