Speaking of the power of accessories : I recently change my glasses (I'm in my 50's so practically need them all the time now!) from invisible, box standard librarian style, to edgy, massive big black frame glasses. The kind I always dreamt of but never dared to wear... I still can't believe how they elevate everything I wear now and how super happy and confident I feel :)!
I'm a fellow edgy glasses wearer and I love how they bring that 'something special' to every outfit ✨️
Love the tiny pearls with the turtleneck
Huge fan of the peeling of onions and adding accessories!
I live in SD just SW of you. I’m going to need you to do this for summer. I realize I love winter because I love layers. Summer drives me crazy because I don’t know how to layer when it’s 100 degrees and 70% humidity AND dew point.
I did do this one this summer that may help ua-cam.com/video/051QE6yt-0A/v-deo.html
I live in MN. As you know summer in this area can vary from 50’s to +100°. At the upper end of the temps, I consider my skin the first layer, sweat my second layer and my tee my third layer😅
@@valeriecoopet9897 🤣🤣🤣
Pealing the onion, made me smile too. Love layering.
Yes! I was hoping Quince would collab with you! I am a very big fan of manu of their items.
The black knit vest is yummy! You know- same with that vest puffer and that huge Jean coat. Oh and the stripped turtleneck.
Layering has really stepped up my fashion game!
Marry the shapes🌟
Love the use of scarves. Great ideas. Thanks.
Thank you!
Love the black puffer vest with the extended shoulder. It’s a cool detail on a classic piece, and it looks so good over a jacket.
Thank you Pamela! That specific one is from Everlane and unfortunately not available anymore :-( But that's why I loved it too, was the extended shoulders, so unique.
Freepeople has a similar vest in lots of colors. I think it is called Bubble Vest. Good luck!
@@jam_is_jammin Thank you for pointing out the Freepeople vest. Much appreciated!
I love the concept of this but unless I'm going snowboarding or hiking in 30 degree weather (I live in TN) I'd die of a heat stroke😔 People turn the heat to like 75 in all stores and restaurants here the minute it's Sept. It's unbearable!
I have watched you from the beginning and I feel that your videos s are getting better and better- almost each video gives me a take away.
Keeps getting better and better and better, love this too wiehoo 🎉

Lovely ideas. Will keep you posted. Thanks
Great tips! One of my favorite Fall/Winter textures is tweed. I’ve been working on a few outfits with a tweed Shacket. Can’t wait for the temps to drop.
Love your scarce
I want to look chic calm and put together BUT nothing drives me more crazy than the layering mentioned here....I just don't know how to do it!!!!! The button up shirt collar never works with the collar of the jacket/sweater and the jacket/sweater collar doesn't work/fit with the outerwear, I hate wearing a t shirt or turtleneck under a sweater unless it's a cardigan. I feel like a stuffed potato plus how big does your outerwear need to be to go over all the layers? I feel like the little kid in Christmas Story who can't move in his layers😂I have the same questions about long cardigans....how do you wear the right coat over it in winter or are they just for fall and Spring? It looks weird under a jacket so you have to have a long bulky coat all winter long? Love ya Emily, but UGH!!!😊I'm always exhausted after trying to layer all those layers and it not working for me. Help!! Or don't..... just disregard this rant!😘
Christmas Story! LOL! I used to always feel this way when I tried to layer. My problem was the sleeves on my outerwear were too fitted. I have a few pieces now with more relaxed sleeves. Finally! I hope to get more use out of my sweaters.
Were you not listening.
Watch video again and take notes, then apply to your wardrobe. That's what the rest of us do. 😊 ❤
@@judithroers9655 I did listen and have tried but it never feels good to me....I guess it's just me.
@@jam_is_jammin
thank you...good idea.
Marrying the shapes is a new one for me. I will have fun experimenting with this!
Love Quince! Thank you for the video!
❤love the accessories included in layers.
Oh good, glad you like!
I’ve been experimenting with this. I think my jackets are a tad small and my sweaters a tad bulky, so I’m going to have to reverse that part of my layering. As always, thanks for all your advice. You Rock!
Yea, that's definitely a tricky one. That'll change things for you I'm sure.
I love the Quince things you shared Emily! They are a favorite company of mine. I have been eyeing the knit blazer. 😉
I was always layering my clothes through the nineties. So much so, that people would comment. Then J.Crew made it famous in the early 2000’s. I actually had to layer to bulk my body and keep my skirts and pants up, but the look was fabulous.
Fast forward to age 55 and hot flashes. Layering isn’t as doable, unless I am out in the winter weather.
I am in the hot flashes era also and doing lighter breathable layers that open in the front that I can peel off easily during a hot flash and put back on when it subsidizes. Cotton short sleeved shirt with a button up wore open like a shacket over it, scarves are also easy to remove and put back on. I cannot do a synthetic pull over, I would be melting during a hot flash.
We wear shorts to Christmas dinners here. So layering with accessories it shall be! 😁 Thanks for this one!
I love layers! I changed my look 3 times yesterday with small changes. I live in MO so the temperature can change multiple times a day through fall and winter. 🤷. I kept the same jean trousers and white t shirt on the entire day. Button up with a white long t shirt underneath a pop up collar zip front sweatshirt, gray ballarina flats. Then down to the white long sleep t shirt, gray cahmere vest with pops of red--red shoes red in my necklace and a bracelet. Final outfit. V neck black sweatshirt over white t shirt, black vans and black baseball hat and red bandana.
I loved the black vest on top of the denim jacket and the other layers beneath. Love your ideas!
Awesome tips, thank you 🙏
We wear our historic site's tees as ID, so layering is my work look in colder weather. I use accessories for elevation but also for warmth! Want to think about texture effects more, definitely. Does anyone else who uses public transportation play the Emily Analysis game and silently find her tips in action in people's style? Or is it just me??
Fantastic tips, particularly if you live in somewhere like the UK🙂
Love all your content thankyou! I live in rural South Australia so hardly need more than 2 layers, but I'm going to count my belt and jewellery! 🙏🤩
I love viewing all your videos & your style is so, so on point! Don't think there is one outfit that I haven't liked. Thank you for all your tips, truly does help.
Love the sweater vest! they are out of stock but will buy two when they become available. Thanks for a stellar video.
Love your looks, and the layering tips are fantastic! What about women who aren’t slim? I like to layer, but don’t need any extra padding if you catch my drift. Any special tips for the larger ladies?
I would love to see some holiday outfits ;) Emily :) I love getting ready with you every morning, you brighten my day and make my life easier with cool edgy chic and minimalist outfit inspirations! I was doing this for years without calling it anything, but now thanks to you I can describe my style :) Much gratitude for everything you do :) I love a good accessory! What would we do without a good scarf and sock pop :) Yay layers 🎉 I live in BC Canada, and it rains a lot. Where I live reminds me a lot of Portland's weather. I will be using all of these outfits for inspiration :)
Great ideas. Love the Quince layers too! I recently have fallen in love with the brand.
Yea I'm amazed at the level of Quality for the price
@@EmilyWheatley I was pleasantly surprised that the Washable Stretch Silk Tee has a dart at the chest which is such a quality touch. I bought it in copper brown and it’s stunning.
Great tips!!❤
Glad you like them!
Great stuff! ❤
Thank you!
Where have you been? I’ve missed you the past month or so 🙃
Took some time off. Will be back soon!
what size is that fisherman cardigan you are wearing just for reference? cardigans tend to be too big for me. thanks
Yay tips for layering!!! 🎉🎉🎉 I’m starting to focus on layering pieces to add to my closet. For example, I’ve never been a vest girl but now I feel like some of my outfits now need a vest 😂 I’ll use your tips to help me find pieces to add. Also, how was the quality on the Quince pieces? I get ads for them all the time and I’m curious about the material quality.
The quality is amazing! Especially when you consider the price.
Hi Emily As always I love your videos , especially on layering. I love the peel the onion tip soo much. It gets cold here , especially in January. I like warm weather but sure love fall and winter clothes, so that helps me get through the colder months. My husband and I went to Minneapolis once. I loved the town of Stillwater. Thanks Emily. You could definitely teach..you have that touch. ❤❤❤❤
Such helpful info.
Especially layering with assesories. Sp? 😅
No offense but I think long hair would suit you a lot! You have a very pretty feminie face structure. I see long balayage hair on you 🔥 would look gorgeous 😊👍
Thank you for suggestion but I had super long hair for most of my life and I definitely prefer the short.
Can bigger people layer i dont wanna look bigger Lol
Definitely! I'm hoping to be able to do some plus size videos soon. Just working on getting a model
@@EmilyWheatley Yes yes Thanks!
