    Speaking of the power of accessories : I recently change my glasses (I'm in my 50's so practically need them all the time now!) from invisible, box standard librarian style, to edgy, massive big black frame glasses. The kind I always dreamt of but never dared to wear... I still can't believe how they elevate everything I wear now and how super happy and confident I feel :)!

    I live in SD just SW of you. I’m going to need you to do this for summer. I realize I love winter because I love layers. Summer drives me crazy because I don’t know how to layer when it’s 100 degrees and 70% humidity AND dew point.

      I live in MN. As you know summer in this area can vary from 50’s to +100°. At the upper end of the temps, I consider my skin the first layer, sweat my second layer and my tee my third layer😅

    I love the concept of this but unless I'm going snowboarding or hiking in 30 degree weather (I live in TN) I'd die of a heat stroke😔 People turn the heat to like 75 in all stores and restaurants here the minute it's Sept. It's unbearable!

    I want to look chic calm and put together BUT nothing drives me more crazy than the layering mentioned here....I just don't know how to do it!!!!! The button up shirt collar never works with the collar of the jacket/sweater and the jacket/sweater collar doesn't work/fit with the outerwear, I hate wearing a t shirt or turtleneck under a sweater unless it's a cardigan. I feel like a stuffed potato plus how big does your outerwear need to be to go over all the layers? I feel like the little kid in Christmas Story who can't move in his layers😂I have the same questions about long cardigans....how do you wear the right coat over it in winter or are they just for fall and Spring? It looks weird under a jacket so you have to have a long bulky coat all winter long? Love ya Emily, but UGH!!!😊I'm always exhausted after trying to layer all those layers and it not working for me. Help!! Or don't..... just disregard this rant!😘

    • @jam_is_jammin
      @jam_is_jammin 8 місяців тому +1

      Christmas Story! LOL! I used to always feel this way when I tried to layer. My problem was the sleeves on my outerwear were too fitted. I have a few pieces now with more relaxed sleeves. Finally! I hope to get more use out of my sweaters.

    I was always layering my clothes through the nineties. So much so, that people would comment. Then J.Crew made it famous in the early 2000’s. I actually had to layer to bulk my body and keep my skirts and pants up, but the look was fabulous.
    Fast forward to age 55 and hot flashes. Layering isn’t as doable, unless I am out in the winter weather.

    • @rosemarymaxson7739
      @rosemarymaxson7739 8 місяців тому +1

      I am in the hot flashes era also and doing lighter breathable layers that open in the front that I can peel off easily during a hot flash and put back on when it subsidizes. Cotton short sleeved shirt with a button up wore open like a shacket over it, scarves are also easy to remove and put back on. I cannot do a synthetic pull over, I would be melting during a hot flash.

    I love layers! I changed my look 3 times yesterday with small changes. I live in MO so the temperature can change multiple times a day through fall and winter. 🤷. I kept the same jean trousers and white t shirt on the entire day. Button up with a white long t shirt underneath a pop up collar zip front sweatshirt, gray ballarina flats. Then down to the white long sleep t shirt, gray cahmere vest with pops of red--red shoes red in my necklace and a bracelet. Final outfit. V neck black sweatshirt over white t shirt, black vans and black baseball hat and red bandana.
