I just love the modern Access approach to videos. You all seem so comfortable with your skills now and the videos have a polish that just makes me smile. Please keep doing the wonderful things you do.
How can the first time you encounter a Malboro on pretty much all Final Fantasy games not be on this list! The dread of this creature! Realizing you haven't saved in an hour, watching your guys spin with confusion, fuming with berserk, blinded, silenced and attacking and missing your own allies as the poison they also have slowly drains them away and there is literally nothing you can do about it, so the Malboro can have itself a Meal made from the Heroes... fun fun fun...
Yes, bumping into one after an hour of grinding on the island closest to hell after killing a ruby dragon and finally getting enough energy crystals for Irvines ultimate weapon on ff8 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
The jak 2 dock yards mission was one of those old school soft lock missions were I could not do anything cause my save was in that mission and I had next to no ammo so it was actually impossible for me to do anything and has been burned into my memory as much as I want to love the game like I do for the original jak & daxter.
I will never forget the feeling of despair when I saw that quest marker "Defeat Goro Majima" He wiped me so hard, my wife thought it was meant to be unwinnable xD
FFX. Trial at Bevelle. A huge massive cinematic climax, a real "save the princess" moment and it all comes to a screeching halt as you... Put orbs into holes and ride platforms for an hour.
I'm not sure who writes the script, but you guys are doing a fantastic job, this was very inspired! Rosie is a certified badass, the Majima/Saejima fight had me on the ropes. I still beat it on my first try, but it really took everything my party had. Also, Adachi is a demoted cop who is seeking justice on corrupt officials. My dreaded stages: Resident Evil 4 Remake - the Del Lago fight, because it is currently keeping me away from my platinum, since it takes too long to kill with what you've got: harpoons. Sha'hala in N'Erud, from Remnant 2, on apocalypse difficulty. While the game has its fair share of dodging and pattern memorization, THIS boss sees itself as a DJ in a rave party, shooting six lasers at the same time, while pulling up black holes from the ground and zapping you with ethereal lightning from the sides. I'm not saying it's impossible, but it takes a lot of commitment to beat. The nightmare frontier in Bloodborne. It has frenzy, it has wintern lanterns, I have no intention of running past it ever again. The First Hero in Skul: Hero slayer. I've managed to get the no damage trophy on everyone except this guy, because he has THREE different final forms and likes to paint all over my screen with red particles that...well, deal damage, so that's a no-go. The Metal Gear Ray battle in MGS2: Sons of Liberty. Raiden is not in peak condition, to say the least, the fission has been mailed and the fact that you need to still save some steam for Solidus only makes it harder. The final battle against Roche in FF7: Rebirth. It's a solo battle, and on hard mode, that means Cloud goes down in 2-3 hits. Riche having multiple grabs and follow-ups did not help at all. The killer bunny from Dragon's Crown. It looks cute, but it's small, which means it's harder to hit compared to the well-built monsters you usually fight, it turns into a literal tornado of destruction - during which time it is invulnerable to all damage - AND it has an instant kill attack. It loves spamming it for consecutive kills and a very fast party wipe. Monty Python is to blame for this atrocity of a boss!
That bloody tile puzzle in Onimusha Warlords, even when I actually got kinda good at it after many tries I still get a feeling of dread whenever I even so much as think about it. I don't handle time limits very well.
The ship graveyard good choice in UC3 especially on crushing difficulty those sections before making it onto the doomed ship were pretty hairy. The constant grenade spawn is what really makes it tough.
Loved the Dune reference at the start so much 😭😭. At this point, they may have well just called Rob Lisan-Al Gaib repeatedly as well for doing anything. Love the video Rob and the team, keep up the great work
Klunk in Secret Agent Clank is one that I dread. The game isn’t too hard but that bearded little terror handed my rear to me more times than I can count. He is such a step up compared to anything else the game throws at you even if he is the final boss, and the pure elation I felt after finally pasting him into the ground for the 1st time all those years ago was immeasurable.
It’s a shame Rob had to settle for watching DUNE on a plane. It demands to be seen on the big screen, or at least on a good sized TV with a quality sound system.
The multiple parts in the last of us part 2 that I dread. Not gameplay wise, but the sheer graphic violence of Joel’s brutal death scene, Ellie’s ptsd, Abby almost being hung, Abby/Ellie’s fight at the theatre, how Ellie almost drowns Abby at the end and the killing of the dogs. Everything is so realistic that it’s a bit unsettling to watch. But at the same time, that game is a masterpiece that I can’t just put down.
Three of mine are: 1. Going to & leaving the underwater city because of the Lurker shark in Jak & Daxter the Precursor Legacy. While it is technically possible for someone to never encounter this thing while playing the game as you will need to go into deep water for it to appear. The first time u do will be ur last because u will be so scared to dip ur toe in the water that u will make sure u never mess up on any platform over water again. That thing scared me as a small child & it still scares me as an adult 2. Encounting Chris Walker in flooded sewer room in Outlast (or really any monster in a very dark space where it can see me but I can't see it or can only see it with the night vision on. Now, don't get me wrong, I love the horror genre to pieces that I even speed run games (usually this game) once every year & have an entire 2 months dedicated to Halloween but when it comes to sneaking around in a pitch black area where I know a monster is going to be it makes me uneasy because now I don't know where they are but you can be sure they can hear & see me stumbling around like an idiot. If I can see the monster then I know where it is & I can figure out how to go around it but if I can only hear it & not see it then that dread makes it heard to pin point exactly where it is especially in a room where the sound can echo off the walls & any water if it in that area 3. The apartment building or hotel in Silent Hill 2. Both buildings even with the map are a massive spooky labyrinth that you have to navigate & even worse if you get turned around or end up a dead end good luck figuring out which direction you need to go before the monsters find you & corner you in that dead end or box you in an area you have no idea where you're at. I actually got so scared when I was younger that I refused to leave my hiding spot when first encounting Pyramid head. It wasn't for a good few years before I went back & let poor James out of that hiding spot to continue his nightmare adventures
My husband HATES the Rat King, and he panicked and died over and over and over, until he was ready to quit the game, then I offered to do it for him, for which he was relieved and grateful. He went on to Platinum it after that.
The shoe racing bits in Rayman 3, specifically the one at the top of the tower in the land of the living dead. They're either over very quickly or it can take me over 10 minutes. The longest I've struggled with this was literally 30 minutes, I was losing my mind
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is probably my favorite game of all time but I can’t stand the mini games. They’re kinda fun but they’re unreasonably hard. It took me forever to beat some of them. And then I was shocked to find out that I unlocked a hard mode for them. Like WHAT?! That wasn’t the hard mode?!
Crash Bandicoot Warped. One level, two words: Road Crash. This is the level I struggle with the most. Even though Area 51? is arguably harder, at least it has the excuse of being in the secret warp room. Road Crash does not -- it's halfway through the main game, in the 3rd warp area. It has the most difficult turns of every one of the motorcycle levels, and since it's a motorcycle level, you can't even die and return to a checkpoint -- if you fail, you have to do the entire level again. Good luck getting first place on this one without retrying multiple times.
Great video guys a bit I dread is in Tomb Raider Underworld when you open up the gates of Valhalla I think it is in Jan Mayan Island hen you are on your way to retrieve Thors hammers. Simply because of the amount of thralls I get scared of even before facing them because of the noise they make GB
One moment I dread in a game is the final mission in the 2000's Spider-Man video game for the Playstation where you're getting chased by Monster Ock through the ventilation system, I don't even have a copy of it anymore but even seeing videos on it gives me PTSD flashbacks and heart attacks when I see that red monstrosity rubber banding right next Spider Man for NO apparent reason other than the sole purpose of having my heart explode from my chest from the pure stress he induces, as well as the reminder that if I ever do get another copy, or if for SOME reason someone has the great idea of remastering it, that I will absolutely buy it for nostalgia and have to force myself to go through that again, still dreading it to this day.
Oh, man, that damn mission in Jak II where you have to go through the Water Slums with hundreds of Krimzon Guards coming at you from all angles. Pure torture, that one.
You forgot the cart scene in "A Plague Tale: Innocence." Gotta love when a game teaches you an entire skill-set built around stealth, only then to introduce a janky, precision-controlled fight sequence where a single error ends in your untimely death.
Mauraders gave me so much trouble on my first playthrough. But after the Master levels, UN runs and DLC, i want more. MORE MAURADERS TO RIP AND TEAR! Seriously though, bait, balista, quick swap super shotgun, repeat. A little practice and after the first combo he's easier to bait if you get the distance right
The fetus chase from re viii, it always makes me reconsider if i should download it again and play it. It is a part where NONE of your unlocked perps help. Guns? Removed. More health? It is a one hit kill. Every moment before it is fine, but the dread builds up until the moment you see the elevetor and you know you must face it. Either that or getting all the female heroes images of Sakura Wars.
Is it weird that I noticed this? On previous video, I asked what type of Aerith figure you have on the shelf...and every video since then, I've noticed she's been turned sideways. Anyway, I just got the Crisis Core Play Arts in her classic outfit...and now I have a total of 7 Aerith figures...and I still think I need her in her Remake glam dress. I'll stop at 8.
The graveyard on Uncharted 4 was a killer on first playing. On a 2nd play I went straight to that encounter just to see if it was worthwhile trying harder difficulties. So yeh dreaded that that level.
This is why I didn't care for Doom Eternal. It broke the cardinal rule of having a great time with the games - you suddenly need to have a specific strategy. I just here to blast stuff
The moment you cannot delay choosing a faction any more in the fallout games(and similar rpgs). I try to do everything before and you still miss out on a lot of content the moment you choose. So I try to avoid it as much as possible, tip toeing around all sidequest to avoid getting angry some side and delaying certain main quest until the inevitable moment.
I finished Like a Dragon a few weeks ago. And this difficulty spike almost made me stop playing it. I'm not a big fan of grinding and you don't need to do it until this fight. Which comes completely out of nowhere. After a week of not playing i did put up some videos on my laptop and mindlessly went through the Sotenbori battle tower. There is a second spike a few hours later in Koreatown which also required lots of grinding. Somehow I pushed through knowing it's close to the finish line. Ratking was also superhard for me and I made it from checkpoint to checkpoint with many deaths between.
Mafia's car race is brutal for me you have to win and you've got to be near perfect in order to do just that I salute anyone whose managed to complete that segment whilst playing with manual cars.
I am so glad these are back regularly. Not that I don't like the streams and other things. Just these are why I fell in love with this channel.

Jak 2 making an appearance. A well deserved honorable mention for that mission.
How can the first time you encounter a Malboro on pretty much all Final Fantasy games not be on this list!

Keep seeing this comment but never had much trouble with them. Except door FF10 where poison is too strong.
And Malboros aren't even bosses... just giant deadly plants... and surprisingly common in fanart... due to being memorable I guess.
Yes, bumping into one after an hour of grinding on the island closest to hell after killing a ruby dragon and finally getting enough energy crystals for Irvines ultimate weapon on ff8 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️

Rob has become my favorite person to go to about gaming. He makes me laugh all the time lol.
Robs having far too much fun with these isn't he 😂 great stuff as always, well done
The asteroids section in the original Dead Space. Still gives me more nightmares than the Necromorphs.
the killer croc level in batman Arkham asylum. It's not that hard but I swear I'm scared to even breathe when playing through it.
I'm too scared to even play it once I get the last sample. I have to share play my friend in to do it for me. 😂
😂 the Bic biro 😂 PS I’m sure Denis is ok with watching Dune on a flight sized screen
FFX. Trial at Bevelle.

That intro was brill! Nice acting from Dave there.
I laughed my @ss off at Rob's confession because just before he said it I thought to myself "Well, someone's been watching Dune."

As for things I dread....hallucination/drugged sections where you don't do anything but stumble along the guided path!
So another entry for uncharted 3
@ByakuyaKB it was also done in COD, Mass Effect, Tomb Raider (reboot) and plenty other games.
I loved that in Hellblade:Senuas Sacrifice, it was an important aesthetic to the game
Also the basement in The Last of Us where Joel cranks the power on and the screams of the infected surround you. Gives me the creeps!
That Dune skit....brilliant boys 🤣👌🏻
Thank you Rob!! 🎉🎉🎉
The ship graveyard good choice in UC3 especially on crushing difficulty those sections before making it onto the doomed ship were pretty hairy. The constant grenade spawn is what really makes it tough.
The Battle of Bruma in Oblivion. Lost count of how many times I had to reload to make sure Baurus and Jauffre survive.
Shout-out to the Blackwater City sewer escape in Ratchet & Clank which, in the PS4 version, IS FASTER THE HARDER THE DIFFICULTY
Everytime the Marauder would run towards me from a distance, I immediately would play The Ultimate Warriors's theme in my head.
I LOVE the beginning of this video aha. Brilliant! 😂

I also like the guitar serenade haha
I will agree, encountering Majima in LAD, filled me with dread. That difficulty spike was no joke.
I love ff9 but the whole sneaking to get the key then weight the scales I dread that moment

Tendo's instakill Godpunch on Ichiban is my most dreaded Like a Dragon section.
Speaking of Uncharted 3, how about the battle on the cruise ship itself! The outside & inside battles were killer on crushing!

God, the ship graveyard...... I did it on crushing. Twice. And both times it was hell incarnate. I don't even wanna know what it's like on brutal.
Bringing grenades/rocket launchers being bad for ships: That bit killed me.
What about painful mini games to get ultimate weapons? I’m looking at you FFX (and many other FF’s)

Darn, Metal Gear Solid might be a tough series then...😅
...why'd it have to be snakes?!!

The Death Row mission is actually super easy if you stole Ricardo's car during the Guardian Angels mission, lol.

Yeah, the majima fight was when I stopped playing the game. I couldn't really be bothered to grind 15 levels in the arena.
