      Because, look at the era he came from. He was dealing with REAL journalists in the 70s, 80s, and 90s. You had to be who said you were in those days and have a degree in mass communications/ journalism to prove you're a professional. Internet fame off of blogs and UA-cam wasn't cutting it.

    His energy is so straightforward and strong. Hollywood ran his generation of black men away. That’s why most of the brothers from the 70s that were on sitcoms and in Blaxploitation films faded out of the spotlight by 1980. They weren’t with the bullish. I haven’t heard a black male actor speak like this in forever.

      You know I had heard when I was younger when I was looking for him and more of his work, they said, "He was difficult to work with..bla blah blah." I see it wasn't he was difficult, he wasn't doing that crap that they do to get a paycheck. Good for him. Glad he is doing well. I heard he didn't get along with Rollo on Sanford and Son off screen.

      @@SuperMogul BS. He was on a very short-lived sitcom called "Baby I'm Back", not long after S&S ended. It had Denise Nicholas, Helen Martin, and Kim Fields in it. He played a father that had run out on his wife and children, only to come back to try and take over his wife's life. He DIDN'T have any integrity, any more than the rest of those clowns did. He left because people were tired of seeing him, and he couldn't get work. THAT'S why they faded out of the spotlight. Stop with the "BM are victims" crap. People are tired of that, myself included.

    • @MundiaKamau
      @MundiaKamau 9 місяців тому +3

      Demond did not say anything we do not already know. What he said applies to life in general, not just Hollywood or the Corporate World. We have been living by the sword since the beginning of time and continue to. And it doesn't just revolve around big money, it involves anything and everything. Even if you just want a job as a janitor, man or woman, people will capitalise on it, not everyone, but the reality is that even janitor jobs are capitalised on.
      There was a construction boom here in Kenya in the 2010s, and it was saddening how women and girls were openly taken advantage of. Women and girls who wanted jobs as casual labourers were slept with openly and at will by those who gave jobs at construction sites. It was actually rape by another name.
      And these things still go in Kenya, around the world in general, even for the lowest paying jobs. I think it was Mark Twain who said "we are just animals trying to be human beings." Animals have their flaws too, but when it comes to "mating" even they are more disciplined than us. They mate only when they have to, they mate for the survival of the species. I'm not saying that we should only "mate" once a year, but "mating" amongst human beings continues to be abused in criminal ways.
      I don't even know what purpose different places of worship around the world, serve.

    Wilson was on a show called Make Me Laugh in the late 70s. He was the star at the end who had to face the 3 comics trying to make him laugh. Most stars sat there with a blank expression trying to not laugh…but most times the comics got the star to laugh. Not Wilson. Wilson sat there genuinely uninterested in the jokes and not only didn’t laugh but smirked, rolled his eyes, and acted like they were wasting his time. One of the comics used something with water in it as a prop for a joke. Some of the water, a tiny bit, got on Wilson. He then got upset. You could tell the comics were backing off Wilson towards the end and could tell he didn’t want to be there.

    I've known this for a long time. Nobody gets anywhere in Hollywood without selling out. People like Demond Wilson who stand for what is right and aren't willing to trade their moral values for money and fame don't get far. You don't have to be talented to become a Hollywood star. All you have to do is sell out. Once you do that the studios own you for life. They make you and they can just as easily end your career if you go against them. Some people can't live with the knowledge of what they had to do to get their careers. It's the reason a lot of celebrities commit suicide.

      Dude, literally everyone sells out. Corporations are fiefdoms. If you want to make money or make money with anyone else you have to compromise your principles in one fashion or another. Some people are just willing than others to get ahead or survive. Noone gets to the top of the foodchain without getting their hands dirty regardless of their career choice because all the other people up top are sharks too.

As a preacher myself, I use a philosophy that my mother (another preacher) used: where you did it is where you get it. For me, if you effectively shut a person down the first time, chances are they won't do it a second time. Now, you may not agree with how Desmond spoke to the young man, but I bet the interviewer will do his homework more thoroughly from now on. It's a case of the end justifying the means. I love have Demond kept putting the interviewer on point, by reminding him that he didn't do his homework.

    Redd Foxx is an icon who helped so many in and outside of the industry. He was as flawed as most and less flawed as some, but provided us with laughter through some of the most trying times in America. He was human.

      I totally agree he who is without saying let him cast the first stone. What I hear is truth mixed with bitterness because some things didn't go right for him. I've always been a fan but his interview turns me off a little bit.

    Salute to CH for uploading these clips. Even though Demond was a bit harsh on you, youre not allowing your ego to get in the way of views and dollars.

      Demond wasn't hard on him, IMO, he taught him a very valuable lesson--
      Know a little something about who you're interviewing because you just might get schooled and have your @$$ handed to you for not doing so. I think the gentleman should take this interview and use it as a very teachable moment and learn from it.
