After exhibiting such heartless behavior toward her first two babies, I can’t help but wonder what kind of mother she is with her other three. And I wonder how her living children feel knowing they have siblings their mother never wanted to have a chance at life.

In the early 80s, in my hometown, a baby was found in a dumpster. The dumpster was in a huge apt complex, with multiple walk up blocks also. The baby was save, and eventually adopted out.
Some years later, a baby was found, bundled up, on a front doorstep, on an extremely cold day (~-25C)
By this time, there was DNA testing. Police were able to determine that the first and second baby were full siblings.
I've looked for articles on this case, but haven't been able to find any. I believe I read that the second baby was also adopted, but don't know if it was by the same family that adopted the first baby. The parents were found, but I don't know how the police identified them. From memory, I think the parents got probation and mandatory counseling. Their diagnosis was announced as denial of pregnancy. They said at that time that having a couple acting together is rare.

I was shocked to discover this situation is not unique! There are women who abandon 3 or 4 children. There was a case covered on 20/20 of a woman with 2 sons who abandoned 3 subsequent babies (NOT triplets). The woman tried to explain why she did it. I wish she could have figured out why these babies kept popping out of her, so she would stop abandoning them. There is a case as you described from Staten Island, but the timing doesn't fit. When you have searched, did you include the name of the town? Was the story published to local media? Try keying in the names of news outlets, then search from their websites.

I saw a video earlier today about Brooke Skylar Richardson. She, allegedly, had a still birth at her parent's house, buried the baby in the backyard and didn't say anything until her obgyn asked her about it two months later. She was only found guilty of abuse of a corpse, I believe. The comments on that video were all about how she was taken advantage of by police during her interrogation and how she's doing such great things with her life now for people wrongfully charged and/or poorly represented. Watching her interrogation/interview will leave you wondering if she felt much about the two children she killed at all. Not a shred of compassion is visible. It's abhorrent that after she admitted to killing _TWO_ children she _still_ did not just cop to it. Instead, by virtue of going to trial she demanded taxpayers foot her murder defense and then willfully forced these people in the courtroom to look at what she did to -that child- those children. She's rotten to the core.
Thank you Dr. Grande, for another interesting, upsetting and heartbreaking take.

If she hasn't committed any crimes in the last 26 years it seems reasonable to conclude that she is not an ongoing danger to society, so she doesn't need to be locked up for that reason. The only valid reason I can see to punish her after all this time is for the deterrent effect on other people who might consider committing a similar crime.
The prospect of having their life upended and doing 15 years looming over someone's head for their entire life seems like quite enough deterrent to me. Punishing her any further at this point seems excessive.

I believe her fear of losing her (Christian) standing in the community in addition to losing her father's support was more important to her than claiming and protecting the life of her infant child which is alarming. I formed this opinion given her father's comment about no daughter of his would have a child out of wedlock and the fact that she was a very active member/participant in her church for years. In addition, she (apparently) took proper care of other children she was entrusted with. Not making excuses for Gail, but early in life parents' opinions/influence can carry a lot of weight with their children as if the child is held under their spell especially when that child is timid. Gail taking the full sentence without plea bargain tells me she convicted herself a long time ago.

Agree. Most 22 year olds would need family support if unwed. Knowing that that wouldn't happen and perhaps that they would lose a parent's respect or love might be too much.

I’m sure there was a lot of prayers to her little son for forgiveness. May we all be forgiven for placing our hope in this world, instead of the everlasting embrace of our Savior.

This shouldn't be considered a crime and is not morally wrong. Gail should absolutely be considered mentally unwell, and everyone who is disgusted by her actions should instead be disgusted with the society that caused her to do what she did.

This poor young woman was in denial and shock. This case upsets me. She needs love and compassion. I have heard of several cases of a baby born in a bathroom. This is an upsetting story. She would have been shunned by her father. She was terrified of her situation. She needed a gynecologist and good birth controll. Young women need medical care. I am not familiar with Ohio law. She was not a criminal. I hope Inmocents Project can help her. She does not need to be in prison. She freaked out and felt desperate. She is not a killer.

I think that it's possible that a young woman from a religious background would have conflict over the `sinfulness' of premarital sex, which can result in not using birth control. Of course, it's not logical not to use birth control, but using it requires acknowledging that you plan to have sex. Old joke about Baptists: Why do Baptists prohibit having sex standing up? Because it's too much like dancing.

To be so detached to her first two.
