Orion is a GIGA. The drop is 300 feet tall. phantom and Apollo aren’t 200 feet but they’re drops are over 200

From my own personal experiences this is false
Personally I prefer Diamondback because I feel like it’s more re-rideable. I can get off and back on where as Orion leaves me slightly disoriented and I can’t get back on for quite some time
That's an important factor for sure!
Between the two, I prefer Diamondback. Despite being 6 stories shorter, the airtime is more powerful, the pacing is better, and the splashdown adds a lot to the experience.

agreed. i rode orion a few weeks ago and i loved it, but it doesnt last as long as diomand back does, the airtime is more crazy on diomandback and the water effect, me personally i take diomandback over orion.

Nice job with your humorous analysis. I prefer Diamondback because of its relentless airtime. It's basically a traditional out-and-back, whereas Orion is a twister. And having Orion's brake run so high up in the air seems like such a waste. That ride could easily have kept going for another 1000 feet.

Seriously you caught me with the title, but great video, and you earned a new sub! I love both Orion and Diamondback, but honestly I would say Diamondback gets the higher end as I usually have more fun on it, but both coasters are amazing!

Diamondback is the better ride, It's more balanced. Orion is a 2 trick pony. Most informal surveys online have Diamondback as a slight favorite.

I love both of them, their both great smooth hyper coasters
I personally like Orion better. My lap bar came up on Diamond Back on the main, first, hill. Scared me pretty bad. I put my arms up for the hill and click click click. I freaked out and not in a good way. After the ride I reported it to the ride attendant. Orion just is a smooth enjoyable ride. I rode it 6 times in a row.
The lap bar literally can not come up unless it is in the station. That goes for any roller coaster you ride.

Thanks for calling them both "Hyper Coasters". And yes, I have seen the entire video and I am NOT wanted to say "But only the drop of Orion is higher than 300 feet, so not a real Giga!. Instead I also say that Fury 325 is a B&M Hypercoaster.
Actually I don't understand why people all the time make that distinction, so also in listing videos like "Top B&M Hypers", and don't put the ones that are higher than 300 feet in it. I have never seen that somebody put Valvran in a list of B&M Hypers, just because it is higher than 200 feet. And when somebody talks about all B&M Inverters, I never heard somebody who put Alpengeist and Nemesis in two different categories, although they are very different in height. But when it comes to Hypers, you have two coaster of the same model by the same manufacturer, and you put them in two categories just because a quite small difference in height? Doesn't make much sense to me.
When somebody is asked "What's your favorite GigaCoaster?" would it be OK to say "Red Force"?
I don't really consider Orion to be a hyper nor a giga. But if I had to decide I'd say a hyper. I say it's a Hyga.

Between the 2, i prefer Diamondback. Honestly, i think Diamondback is probably the best, or 2nd best B&M hyper.
Diamondback has my pick, feels much more complete and absolutely loved the sustained airtime moments during the entire ride.

If orion had 2 more hills or some sort of s bends at the end, nobody would complain about it at all. Or if there was some air off the initial wave turn. Looks really cool, but im honestly just not huge on helices so the “orions belt” doesnt do it for me. 10/10 would still marathon all day

I watched every bit of Orion be built on the live cam and the last time I was able to go was 2019. Kings island is my home park and I waited years to finally get to ride Orion. Last Wednesday I was able to ride it. It was almost like an outer body experience or possibly spiritual and I am atheist 😬 lol however, it was everything I hoped it wud be and more. It’s the only Giga I’ve rode to date. Im a single mom with 2 teen daughters and just haven’t been able to afford to take us till last week. I love both coasters. Orions drop is definitely more intense and the speed overall is more intense than DB. I love DBs floater airtime and I loved the airtime hills that pop on Orion and I love the airtime on DB. So I love them both equally in different ways for different reasons. I wish Orion was a little bit longer. Both climbs are so fast you don’t even get time to think about what craziness is getting ready to happen. Both coasters to me…….are amazing rides. Fury 325, steel vengeance, Iron Gwazi are on my coaster bucket list for east coast. I know I’ll never make it any further than Holiday world, and my hopes are not very high at ever getting to go there. I’ve never been to cedar point……..I literally can feel myself craving to go, but. I have rode original Gwazi and Son of Beast with/without loop and got a few rides on the defunct Hurricane at Dania Beach when I lived in West Palm. I’ve yet to get to experience an RMC. I love Mystic Timbers, which I know is a CGI and it’s a great ride and I just know RMC is an even more amazing ride. I’d love love love to ride the Voyage and Ravine Flyer II. Can’t decide if I love wood coasters more or steel.

I rode both several times. I like diamondback better. It has more hills. Orion is mostly banks. The splashdown on Diamondback is much more fun last row of train. Yes your arms will get wet if you hold them up and out.
When I first rode Orion, I thought of it as a Diamondback 2.0. It doesn’t really stand out to me. I think they’re tied imo.
I call it Diamondbacks bigger brother, lol. Me and my daughters got to finally ride Orion for the first time literally last Tuesday/Wednesday. I love both

We were kinda bored with Candymonium. Trimmed too much. Fun but nothing spectacular.
@@AmericasCoasterNetwork I heard in the winter they turn off the trim brakes. The trims ruin the ride and kill the pacing. Everytime i ride it im like curse you trim brake. The ride will be a 10/10 with one my airtime hill and with out the trim brakes but they will make the ride last longer. Candymonium wont get old for the general public or most of the coaster enthusiasts for a long time

A complete-circuit roller coaster that is 300 to 399 feet tall. A giga roller coaster is a complete circuit roller coaster between 300 feet and 399 feet in height or with a drop within those boundaries.

You can't judge the smoothness of a coaster based off a POV. A lot of that has to do with the camera mounts. Both Diamondback and Orion are smooth. And, Orion being brand new at the time we rode it, was the smoothest

I’ve been on both and give me diamondback any day. However Orion at night is a good ride and the first drop seems endless especially in the very back row.

Nitro is my favorite hyper. Its layout includes a helix and final bunny hills. It’s more of a complete experience. Diamondback is the only coaster at KI that I think is a little overrated. There’s a rattle (not because it’s named after a snake), and the layout is basically just out and back.

This video had so many twists and turns but wrapped up all the loose ends. Especially after my 2022 rides, Diamondback for me is FAR superior to Orion, but i appreciate the unique layout of Orion. Just wish it stayed more low to the ground like Fury does

Chris from airtime thrills counts MCBRs as part of prime ride time. I consider Orion to be a giga since I respect drop more than height, which means I don't consider Magnum a hyper since it has a 194.7' drop I'be never been to K.I. but I think Fury is the only park where the Giga is better than the hyper; I've been to Canada Wonderland and I prefer Behemoth to Leviathan and I think I'd feel the same about Diamondback vs Orion, even though MOP by Metallica is the best metal album of all time.
Thats an interesting take. Drop over height. What about those coasters with inversions? For example, is X2 a hyper with its 215 foot drop? Also, regarding Metallica, my personal favorite album is ... And Justice For All. But Master of Puppets is also great.

BTW AJFA and MOP are close for me but the latter was too dry without enough bass (Jason; not low end). Battery already had the speed and the title track of MOP has the length and progressiveness in a more organic manner than AJFA. All songs on MOP are in between 5:12.5 and 8:33.5 minutes; nothing too long, nothing too short. It's also the 1st thrash metal album w dry and clear production, recorded in Autumn '85 and released in Feb. '86 and contains some of Cliff's best work. By the time AJFA came out, Slayer and Anthrax had also released dryly produced thrash; and the lack of Jason's bass is an admitted oversight. It's no wonder MOP considered to be the most important American metal album of all time by the American Library of Congress.
Justice is definitely better than Puppets. Way more intricate, blistering songs. AJFA had better lyrics throughout the album than MOP, and the songs were just packed full of so much more gold. The riffs and the endless changeups were relentless, and James and Lars never sounded so tight.
@@theimmortalcadaver6300 I disagree but respect your opinion because Justice does have those advantages, but MOP comes off more naturally and you can hear the bass too. It wasn't as dry as AJFA but it didn't need to be: nothing that heavy was as dry as POP when it came out. Thanks for your input!

Rode both for the first time just a week ago. Diamondback is clearly a better coaster. Both are good but neither stack up to Millenium Force or Magnum in respective categories. They are both smooth as glass but entirely unmemorable and 20 years behind in the coaster race -- rode each with 20 or 20 years of been there and done that.
Well said. Even though Magnum was running like garbage during our last visit, it has more character than Diamondback. It's like driving or riding in a classic car versus a new car.

Well, I guess some count those as hypers. But they aren't in the traditional sense. That is, a coaster with no inversions, not launched, and airtime based. Which is something we need badly in California.
