@@N.i.E.M.O Certainly feels like it was meant to. Like the backrooms of this dungeon were dummied out of the US version, but it only takes 1 gameshark code to put the required item in your inventory to get to them. So, it may have been on accident, but I don't know if they were working properly in the Japanese version.
Saw this thumbnail and thought "Why wasn't that just a long duel sequence/QTE?", glad to see many people think the same thing, probably the only time I've ever wanted MORE QTEs in a game!
Ever since I was a kid playing this game I always wondered why they didn't make this cutscene into an interactive QTE like there were in the earlier parts of the game. Adding to the strangeness is that the entire concept of the QTE cutscenes were abandoned after the first dungeon (if memory serves me correct) where you fight a skeleton and then Seda. Afterwards, there are never any interactive cutscenes ever again for the rest of the game.
There's two back to back in Wise Owl Forest, then one in the Sun and Moon temple. I'm pretty sure the developers were going to make duels player-triggered (kinda like God of War) at some point in development, but decided to water it down.
The design of this game is very inconsistent. I replayed it recently and there's a lot of moments where they do something one way then drop the idea for the next area. As if they realized it wasn't a good idea and changed their mind
You'll get your wish if you play Dark Cloud 2/Dark Chronicle. The killer serpent shows up as a regular enemy in chapter 2, only a lot smaller than it was in this game.
Does the game on PS4 actually look this bad?! I have the PS2 version on a CRT (tube TV), and it looks better then this. I mean, I know that older games were designed to make use of the blurriness of old tubes, and that running older video games on modern tvs actually tends to look worse then using an old tv, but did they not upgrade the graphics at all?!
They Should've made this a quick time event, it was so epic.
They really should’ve made it a qte. It would’ve been the most cool one most definitely.
Even when I was a kid I wondered why this cutscene wasn't a QTE.

Wish they let you actually fight the fake genie
lucky, they granted that fight, but only as a bonus boss in Dark Cloud 2

Oh wow I totally don't remember those at all. Granted I haven't played the game in nearly 20 years.

I often wondered if Seda heard all of this from INSIDE the castle?
Speaking of which, how DID Seda get up to the castle in the first place?
I'm pretty sure he can teleport anywhere he wants. Plus, he has connections to the castle.
This should have been a duel if I had to pick the fight that you would have fight like a normal enemy I would have picked the snake

It's emulating the PS2 version. It's not a remake. It does have trophies though.
If you want it to actually look good youd need to load up an emulator on PC and play around with third party lighting and graphical improvements.
It's a port, not a remake
@@amuro9624 I never said it was a remake. I merely expressed surprise that it wasn't remastered or cleaned at all.
Killed the so called dark genie that too easy 🧞 4:14
