Hey Rob, we have been big fans of yours for many years. I raised two sons in the water watching you surf. I hope love, joy, and lots of grace are surrounding you in this season of life! All the best to you, my friend!
for real, I was struggling dialing in my Go Fish and then I remembered it was a Machado board and I just just relaxed and laid off the gas a little and now it's my favorite board
I recently just started riding twin fins and I’m in love with the amount of fun they bring. That board definitely has my attention with the keel vibes.
I rediscovered twins a. couple years ago and LOVE them! I’m playing around with twinzers too. I’ve only used keels on Lis type fish’s in the past but want to give them a go too.
Is always a good Sunday when you get to see Rob talking about his new peojects, I got a Seaside last week and I cannot wait to ride it, base on all the reviews the boars is out of this world
@@firewiresurfboards I also want to give credit to Thomye and Noel from Surd and Shop. Their review are outstanding and thanks to all of the positive feedback provided every time I reached out to them.
Looks pretty nice actually (most boards don't these days - I got spoiled on Loehr boards when younger though). I'd like to see a thruster model personally.
I got the 6’0 and 7’0. Personally in love with the 7’0 as it has a ton of drive and very maneuverable for its size. The 6’0 I did not care for as much. Keep in mind I’m in Los Angeles and the waves have been smaller and weaker.
In the very beginning was that black and white photo of your old band sack lunch? I remember you played at soma and you rehearsed behind their breakfast café across from Cardiff. The Sunday 7’0 reminds me of a Larry Mabile
I am riding the poor mans version of this here in New Zealand - the Aloha Fun Division - and it goes bonkers in everything from 2 to 6 Ft. Mush and barrels. Super keen to give this tech a try one of these days.
Both boards are built to work in a variety of waves, but if you're really trying to dial in to junky beach breaks under shoulder high, go with the Sunday.
I am so intrigued in portions of those racks, and am lucky to have a father as a shaper. Unluckily, my wife does not share my enthusiasm on board design 🤣 Timeless, aesthetically and atomically engaging surfing. Plus hair! In Rob we trust.
ive been told to always do that because the tail is the most important part and every repair has the potential to change how it surfs while the nose barely changes anything so it is much easier to fix
Just a small question? When you store your boards on your surfboard racks; why put them on the nose of the board , instead of the tail; which would be more solid I think.
Because the tail of the board is more important than the tip of the nose. Over time the glass can crack from it standing up and nose is easier to repair and less important.
7'3 Sunday. More pivot and slide beneath your back foot in weak waves. The Sunday feels better in slightly more powerful waves for drive and turns on rail.
Yes, it does. Especially with big keel fins. But the Seaside and the Seaside and Beyond both have a higher range because of how thin the tail is in the back 12 inches of the board. If you're dialing in for really pumping surf, err on the side of Seaside and Beyond.
If you keep coming out with any more of these sick new shapes, they’re gonna have to set up a Rob Machado Hotline, for all of the surfer’s going into financial debt, trying to keep up brutha!!! “Hi, my name is .... and I’m a R.M. surfaholic.” 👋 Lol 🤙
Seriously! The next model should be called Easy Monday...after you had fun all day on Sunday and caught 100x waves... you are tired and want something easy to surf next morning.. Here it is... this board will paddle out for you 🙈
I know right. I’ve have all of his boards, besides the Midas. My wife is going to catch on soon 😂 It wasn’t really talked about much, but one of my favorite is the Creeper.
@@firewiresurfboards just picked up a 6’4 Sunday. Love the boards FireWire has put out over the years. Great collaboration with great shapers and surf legends.
Nice board! Is this one supposed to be surfed as either Twin or Single? Or 2+1 work too? Im curious because I have another 2+1 egg/mid style that works great as Single and 2+, but it doesn't work as a twinny

Southern NC here. We paddle out full wetsuit for thigh high days in the winter time. We take what we can get, but as long as you don't surf real waves on a surf trip too much, you got nothing compare to and stay stoked.
Just work more and save for surf trips to somewhere that it's good, especially to surf reefs and pointbreaks that'll make you lose all interest in beachbreak slop.
